Today at the Buzz Bake Sale, Anberlin played what they said was their first single from their new album Cities, due out in early spring. I didn't catch the title but I think they called it either "Hello Alone" or "Alone Alone" or something along those lines. We'll find out the real name eventually, I'm sure.
Anyway, the song was good but it's not as immediate as "Paperthin Hymm" or "Never Take Friendship Personal". I don't know how well it will do.

I really want to hear this. Is there anywhere you can download the live track?

There's about a dozen videos on YouTube from the AMAZING show yesterday, but none from Anberlin's set. Out of the estimated 35,000 people there, someone must have had to get it on video somewhere. My guess is to keep checking back in the next few days.

Thanks for the advice...I try to avoid youtube whenever I want decent quality of something. I usually just stumble on 37 second clips of a practically inaudible live performance because the dude and his friends are all yelling into the sh**ty camera phone! I guess I'll just see what comes up.

Yeah, while they're not incredibly amazing live, they put on a good overall show. If I learned anything this past weekend out of any of the bands at the Buzz Bake Sale, its that the Hawthorne Heights vocalist is absolutely painful to hear in person. I can't fault the guy at all though. His actual voice sounds like he's five years old, so I feel bad for him.

I was waiting for an opportune moment to mention that.
And then you went ahead and did it anyway! Aren't you ballsy?

I said he sounds, and no joke, no lie, like Fred from Scooby-Doo. "Hey gang, we've got another mystery to solve!" It is so hard to take.

Anberlin's new single is called "Godspeed", and it'll be released to iTunes the day after Christmas.

Anyway, is it possible that they just renamed the song? I slightly remember the word "god ____(something)" in the chorus, so could it possibly be the same song? I could be wrong, but I wish someone would have recorded the performance.

That website is pretty "ew". But anyway, Anberlin hasn't said anything on their MySpace or website about this and surprisingly nobody on their message boards is discussing this issue either. I suppose it is possible they changed the name, but it must've been a pretty sudden change.

Still looking for a damn live performance of this song. Yeah, it seems like someone recorded a video of every other band at the Buzz Bake Sale on YouTube except Anberlin. I don't think that many people there knew who they were by noticing at how many people left the stage area after Cartel, who was on right before them. However, after two songs or so the people all seemed to come back. I guess they liked what they heard.

Well, I took in both Anberlin and Hawthorne Heights live last month, and Hawthorne Heights' performance surprisingly impressed me. Anberlin, whom I only know from "Paperthin Hymn," bored me, striking me as just another run-of-the-mill, Crapperware, nu-school Warped/Fuse band.

The truth is revealed. AbsolutePunk just posted the tracklisting to Cities, which is as follows:
01. "Intro" 02. "Godspeed" 03. "Adelaide" 04. "A Whisper And A Clamor" 05. "The Unwinding Cable Car" 06. "Hello Alone" 07. "Reclusion" 08. "Alexithymia" 09. "Inevitable" 10. "Dismantle Repair" 11. "Fin"
This confirms that the title of the song that Idiot and I heard is indeed "Hello Alone". The odd thing is that there's also a song called "Godspeed" on the album.
Here's what I think: I think "Hello Alone" is the first mainstream single, and perhaps "Godspeed" is a Christian market single or something.
Whatever the case, seems like a short album. It's supposed to be over 40 minutes long, but ten tracks and an intro still looks disappointing no matter how you slice it.

A month from the album's release and still no word. >:( I've been playing the crap out of "Godspeed" in the meantime. They've never played Warped, so . (From a decidedly biased point of view: they aren't as good live as on disc.)

To clarify, my point was that their studio sound is better than their live performances, not the other way around. "Godspeed" is on their myspace now. They might as well go with this as the first single. It's hard enough for Alternative, and with some catchiness, too.

The album leaked. "Alexithymia" has a line that goes, "Addictions fill the table where the family used to sit and conversate, conversate to the sounds, to the sounds of a record player." I'm embarrassed for them. (The word "conversate" is technically in the Webster's dictionary, but deemed slang. I don't think they meant to use slang in this song.)

Adelaide (3:13) 4. A Whisper & A Clamor (3:22) 5. The Unwinding Cable Car (4:14) 6. There Is No Mathematics To Love And Loss (3:25) 7. Hello Alone (4:00) 8. Alexithymia (3:47) 9. Reclusion (3:21) 10. Dismantle Repair (4:18) 11. Inevitable** (6:17) **I also have a track called "(Fin)" that's the same song as "Inevitable". Not sure what's up with that. Length is about 41 minutes.
