FMQB is currently placeholding an untitled Chevelle single for adds in February. Their new album, currently tentatively titled Your Terrible Memories, is currently being prepped for a spring release, probably March or April. Songs currently confirmed for the album include "Humanoid", "Straight Jacket Fashion", "One Cell", "We Paint The Seconds That Flow", "Gucci Clan", "Saturdays Of Our Youth", and "Anti-Saint".
More information as it comes. I for one am incredibly excited by the prospect of new Chevelle.

Interesting. Two song titles related to fashion.

Those song titles seem to suggest they're continuing to move in a more eclectic direction.
This is quite interesting, because I was thinking of Chevelle Thursday, and wondering when they'd release their follow-up. "Vitamin R" was also humming in my head (and no, I don't take any, LOL!)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'm very excited about this new album. I was actually missing them a few days ago after "Vitamin R" popped on my iPod.

Hopefully the record label does a better job with single release choices this time. After two great singles, they killed the last album with "panic prone".

you can listen to a live version of the new song Humanoid here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcfhQX_Aghoit isn't the best quality sound but you can't complain too much. sounds like classic chevelle. not bad.

I am still blown away by the Wonder What's Next album. I still sing songs like "Forfeit" and "Comfortable Liar" aloud all of the time. Haha, Liar....Hence the title of my #1 song to your left, I have a soft spot for songs about lying...
And, for the record, "Panic Prone" is one of the best alt-metal songs ever composed. There, I said it. A travesty that it didn't do better on the charts, and that Chevelle fizzled after a few months when their last album was out - perhaps initially poor reviews were to blame there.
Either way.....
Cue the Chevelle...

Did anyone ever hear that softer version of "The Clincher"? It was called "The Clincher [Version 103" or something. I liked it better than the orignal. It was so relaxing and interesting. I wouldn't mind if they took their music into a softer direction.
I'm also a fan of "Panic Prone", one of their best.

Well actually, they've said that this album is going to not only be heavier, but also faster. Blast beats were mentioned.

I wonder how their fanbase will take to "blast beats" in Chevelle. Who am I to be skeptical of their motives, but 4 albums deep, adding blast beats into Chevelle rings a little like calculated band-wagon hopping.

I need a good example of a "blast beat" to know what you guys are talking about. What song should I listen to?

Any metal song that incorporates a passage with straight triplets on a double bass pedal.

Chevelle was always a heavy band. They're fanbase shouldn't be scared of them going a little metal.

i wouldnt mind chevelle going a little harder. Pete's voice is what turned me on the the band in the first place, Panic Prone took me in. i do like some softer Chevelle too, but im glad they are going harder rather than softer, i think that going softer would be selling out more. because going harder i think may turn some fans off IMO, but not me. cant wait to hear it!

I would consider Chevelle's harder material to actually be weaker. I mean "The Clincher" was by far their weakest single to date (not that it was repelling by any means).
In fact, I would love to listen to an all-acoustic album, maybe in front of about twenty people, the lights dim or turned out, candlelights around them. That's the Chevelle I know and love.

It's interesting how people have different opinions. Personally, I find "the clincher" (including its lyrical complexity of meaning) along with "closure" to be their best singles.
And again I find "panic prone" to be by far their weakest, and the single that killed their last album. Single #3 should have been "get some" or "breach birth".

That's the Chevelle I know and love. I don't see how seeing as how they've only had like three or four acoustic songs in their career.

You're right, I use the term acoustic loosely.
To me, "Closure" and "Panic Prone" are both MOSTLY lighter songs, and then you have songs like "Comfortable Liar", which is mostly very light. I guess I worded that incorrectly - basically, I've liked what I heard from the lighter side of Chevelle thus far in their career, but would still be interested in what this next supposedly harder album has to offer.
Bands like Dark New Day have made acoustic performances, and I would like to see Chevelle do something, whether make a DVD, entire album, or maybe just a few songs at the end of a particular album. Breaking Benjamin would also be very interesting to hear acoustically. Loeffler and Burnley's voices just fit that much better, while (now that we're on "similar" bands) guys like Ed Sloan and Adam Gontier would probably sound terrible on acoustic performances, but maybe I'm wrong.

I actually would like them to beef up their sound and go heavier. Hopefully they'll stake out some middle ground between where they've been and "metal(core?)," thereby keeping themselves apart from the likes of the Breaking Benjamins and Three Days Graces, and what have you, and continuing to be a band whose records I buy. Because if they stay where they are, I could very easily see myself not being interested enough in their new material to bother with buying their next album.

The Clincher did alright on the charts. panic prone sucked, i dont know why, it seems like it would do better also someone said that they would like to hear breaking benjamin aoustic. they have a diary of jane acoutic version. they are not an acoustic band. thier singer has a hard rock voice, it sounds like crap on a quiet set.

I think the vocals of Sloan and Gontier during their respective bands' "lighter" moments within songs is actually more or less filler (at least from the way the songs are structured), which leads me to believe that while the singers are above average screamers and have that gravely voice that makes their music so appealing to many people, they really are no better than your average "singer". Maybe I'm wrong.
Actually, I believe Burnley proves to be quite a talented vocalist on songs like "Forget It" and "Rain", and during the lighter moments on other songs.
It's interesting that people compare Loeffler's voice to Maynard Keenan. I really don't believe the two sound that much alike.

I think Chevelle has more than a few musical nods to Tool, but that's all. Loeffler sounds nothing like Keenan.

Album is now called Vena Sera and comes out April 3rd. Vena Sera roughly translates to "vein serum", probably meaning blood. I wonder how much will deal with their family issues.

This from Tunelab Music:
Chevelle have released the tracklisting of 'Vena Sera'. The album was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette. The album will be in stores April 3rd with the first single coming in February. Tracklisting is as follows:
1. Antisaint 2. Brainiac 3. Saferwaters 4. Well Enough Alone 5. Straight Jacket Fashion 6. The Fad 7. Humanoid 8. Paint the Seconds 9. Midnight to Midnight 10. I Get It 11. Saturdays
Even though I didn't like them the first time I saw them live, I'm excited for their next studio effort.

According to PRP, "Well Enough Alone" is the single.
I see "We Paint The Seconds That Flow" became "Paint The Seconds" and "Saturdays Of Our Youth" became "Saturdays", while "Humanoid", "Straight Jacket Fashion", and "Antisaint" didn't change. I wonder if "Gucci Clan" became "The Fad" and what became of "One Cell".
