The only one on that list that I know I'm going to get is Phantom Punch by Sondre Lerche.

I'm excited for this:
STOOGES RETURN: Legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees The Stooges will release The Weirdness, their first studio album since 1973βs Raw Power on Virgin Records March 20, 2007. The album feature three of the four original band members singer Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Ashetonβalong with ex-Minutemen and fIREHOSE bassist Mike Watt and original Stooges sax player Steve Mackay. The album was produced by Steve Albini in his Chicago studio and mastered at the Abbey Road Studios in the U.K. Tracks include βTrollinβ,β βGreedy Awful People,β βClaustro-phobia,β βMexican Guy,β βIβm Fried,β βATM,β βO Solo Mio,β βShe Took My Moneyβ and βEnd of Christianity.β (12/11p)
And, of course: The Arcade Fire's new LP will be out in March 2007!

On the subject of Mesh: they're now Modern Day Zero, so the point is moot. They've also got a new album coming out soon; it was supposed to drop in September but has been delayed numerous times. I am psyched for this one; the tunes they have on myspace sound really tight. I am amazed that this band is still unsigned.

Being from St. Louis, I'm not. Living in reality, I am. If I was a label looking for the next hard rock band to sign, I'd probably sign them. Catchy enough for radio, ultimately faceless enough to mix in with the lot. I like MDZ, but it's true. They're not much better than anything else out there. Which is exactly the reason why I'm surprised they're not signed, if that makes any sense.

Honestly, the thinking in your reply had crossed my mind, but just after I'd hit reply. It was a fleeting decision of whether or not to go back and edit something like that in.

I wouldn't expect a new Goo Goo Dolls album in 07 unless it was way at the end towards November/December, and even thats huge wishful thinking. Let Love In came out just eight months ago in April and they typically take about four years to make a new album if you look at the slight pattern in their discography.

Then again, Let Love In did so poorly that they might rush out a new album just to try to make a comeback. Although all the singles did pretty well, so I guess it's just a clear sign that radio play doesn't equal album sales anymore.

Or some "new" big artists like Evanescence, Killers! Next year?? i see only talk about NIN and Radiohead! Well, there are definitely more big releases than that, but why talk about albums that don't have a firm date yet? Linkin Park is due out in the spring, Metallica will probably come out next year, Ozzy Osborne has two albums, Foo Fighters are getting set to record, Korn will be in June, Modest Mouse is in February, Velvet Revolver is sometime in the first half, and if GNR comes out, the world as we know it may cease to exist. Then there's the Smashing Pumpkins, Candlebox, Jimmy Eat World, Queens Of The Stone Age, Marilyn Manson, Interpol, P.O.D., Static-X, Green Day, Sum 41, Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind.....it depends on what your definition of big is of course. I choose not to mention releases until a firm drop date is given. With the exception of Modest Mouse, none of these acts have given release dates for their albums. Considering the fickle nature of the industry, this could mean anything from it being out next month to it being put on a shelf and never released. But since you asked, there you go.
