artist: Brand New song: "Jesus Christ" label: Interscope director(s): Moh Azima production co: Ghost Robot
One of the most hyped up tracks on the new album. It could either be a huge hit or flop like "Sowing Season (Yeah)". I actually think this new album has more radio friendly songs than Deja Entendu and even Your Favorite Weapon.

Yay, but nay to the title being just plain "Jesus". Its like that on the album as well but most of us know this as "Jesus Christ" so I'll leave it the way it SHOULD be.

myspace.com/tlodThere's a great mashup of Brand New's "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" with Dashboard Confessional's "Screaming Infedelities" on the link above.

So this goes for adds today? It's getting quite some spins in LA now , let's hope the rest will follow.

Jesus Christ, Cerrano! [/Eddie Harris from Major League after Pedro Cerrano performed a voodoo ritual that caused an explosion in the Indians' clubhouse.]
Sorry, I had to get that reference off my chest at some point.

For those that called it "stupid," is that the song or single cover you're referring to? In the former case, not having heard it, why is it stupid? And if it's the latter, what's stupid about it?

For those that called it "stupid," is that the song or single cover you're referring to? In the former case, not having heard it, why is it stupid? And if it's the latter, what's stupid about it? The cover. I love Brand New, but honestly, it's just a very plain and pretty much nonsensical single cover that doesn't grab my attention in any way, and this is coming from a guy who thought the cover of the album was really funny and cool when a lot of people on punk message boards thought it was ridiculous. But jellyfish? And the "Brand New" and "Jesus" titles don't even fit on the cover! Or is that just the picture's fault? Either way, I've seen a lot of better ones. So, any reason in particular why you're getting a little defensive over this?

uhmmm... That's interesting... To penance: It's just not a picture that I expected to provoke any sort of strong reaction one way or the other, let alone two negative ones in a row. So that's why I wanted to clarify what it was you guys were talking about. For all I knew, it could've been the song. (I overlooked I Learned From You's earlier reply in the topic.) Yeah, that album cover was so bizarre, yet it was such a striking image that it was badass, because whose album covers look like that? I don't own a real copy of Deja Entendu, but I'd totally be into owning the new album just so I could own the recording that cover adorns. I mean, that's instantly among the top album covers of all-time, there, I thought...

I loved one person's reaction to Devil And God's cover on AbsolutePunk. They explained that they thought the little girl on the left was God and the two guys in masks on the right were the devil, and they were like, "Man, the devil is so relaxed right now that he can even fight in loafers."

This definitely doesn't sound like I thought it would. I was expecting something closer to "The Quiet Things..." -- but considering Brand New generally haven't had a lot of radio success, maybe it took a slower song like this to get PDs to notice.

I haven't heard their new album, but I've heard its nothing like their past material. Judging from these two singles I've heard and reviews I've read, I'd assume it has a very melodic and soothing sound compared to their old stuff which can be downright insane at times.

Insane is not the world I'd use, really. SOAD is insane. Brand New are just nice boys.

The only band that comes to my mind is Psychostick. Anyway, I meant Brand New isn't your typical pop-punk/emo/whatever band and I believe shows more of their own style and not sounding like many others out there.
