This song would fare better on Top 40, imo.

If I wanted to hear blink-182, I'd listen to +44. [/rimshot] Lmao its so true, all their shit sounds the same! Even though just like you said, this is a grower. This song would fare better on Top 40, imo. No it wouldn't. It's suited for AAA / Hot AC though.

Yeah, after listening to both of their albums now, I have to agree everything just sounds like one ginormous song broken up into small bits. Don't get me wrong, I like AVA a lot, but there needs to be some sort of variety. There is one song on I-Empire that the beat or tune just reminds me of the Reading Rainbow intro. I just can't remember which song it was.

I think you are both so wrong it's mind-boggling. (+44) first off has far better lyrics than any Blink-182 song and tackle things in a far more mature way than Blink-182 ever did, and the sound is not even really the same. I can't really imagine how you could come to that conclusion unless you're not really listening. In fact, I have a far easier time imagining Angels And Airwaves songs, minus the extended intros, as Blink-182 songs than (+44) (which shouldn't be a surprise since Mark said at one point a lot of the first AVA album was bits and pieces from Blink-182's post-ST sessions).

Funny, before seeing this thread I was under the impression that (+44) was generally more well-liked than Angels & Airwaves, but I guess that's not the case? In any case I still think (+44) is the better of the two bands. AVA just irritates me to no end with their awkward mix of bubblegum melodies, whiny "sensitive guy" lyrics, and pseudo-U2 "epic" flourishes. And of course Tom's cocky remarks don't help either. (+44), from the songs I've heard, are just sticking to the energetic power-pop that Blink did best, with more mature lyrics, and I always preferred Mark's contributions to that band anyway.
