Have any bands with female singers ever hit #1 on these charts. The only one I can think of that would is Evanescence

The Pretenders topped BB's Mainstream Rock chart twice back in '86 (Don't Get Me Wrong, My Baby). Their highest peaking alternative chart entry would be Night In My Veins which hit #2 in 1994. The Breeders almost did it with Canonball. There are probably some more.

Garbage holds the record for a female-fronted band with the most singles to chart on this format - 11 singles total, 5 Top 10s, including a #1.
Vow #26 Queer #12 Only Happy When It Rains #16 Stupid Girl #2 #1 Crush #1 (4 weeks) Push It #5 I Think I'm Paranoid #6 Special #11 When I Grow Up #23 Why Do You Love Me #8 Bleed Like Me #26

I think Elastica's "Connection" made it, didn't it? But I'd have to say Veruca Salt didn't. Texas might've made the Top 5, but Dubstar only made the Top 20, I believe. I don't know why I remember this so specifically, but Artificial Joy Club got to #11. In another era, Shiny Toy Guns and Morningwood would have probably hit #1.

No Doubt came close with Don't Speak and Ex-Girlfriend hitting number two on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.

If I remember correctly, Evanescence didn't hit #1 on Active or Alternative...although they'd come close with Going Under and Bring Me to Life.

With a little more research, I'll add these to the Billboard Modern list above.
Channel Z (The B-52's) THREE WEEKS Love Shack (The B-52's) FOUR WEEKS Good Stuff (The B-52's) FOUR WEEKS Here's Where The Story Ends (The Sundays) ONE WEEK
And since you added solo females for some reason, then I will add:
Blood Makes Noise (Suzanne Vega) ONE WEEK

LOL, I added solo females because they charted much more than nowadays on Modern Rock, and because I tend to include side info all the time when I do a bit of research...
BTW, I couldn't find "Here's Where The Story Ends" on Billboard's archive! ???
A complete list (at least I hope):

I never realized SATB charted so well at the format. You'd think with that record they'd give Siouxsie's solo material a better chance.

The Gods Are Crazy, that's a pretty accurate list. But Here's Where The Story Ends (The Sundays) spent one week on top of the Modern chart for the May 26, 1990 issue. It followed Forgotten Years (Midnight Oil) and was replaced by Policy Of Truth (Depeche Mode).
Since you expanded the list to top threes for Modern Rock, I would also include for your consideration . . . .
#1 : Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm (Crash Test Dummies) because of Reid's background vocals #1 : Return To Innocence (Enigma) featuring Angel as the female vocalist
Maybe? #1 Regret (New Order), their biggest single, had a female keyboardist. I'm not sure if she contributed to the singing of the song.
#2 : Look Who's Dancing (Ziggy Marley And The Melody Makers) which has Sharon and Cedella on vocals
#3 : Shiny Happy People (R.E.M.) has The B-52's's Kate Pierson on backing vocals.

^ I checked the Billboard charts again, and that single is nowhere to be found. The chart you pointed out is missing the #1 spot, and neither the BB archive nor the All Music Guide chart listings report it. It's pretty weird. I've added it regardless, thanks. :)
I'm trying to expand the list with all the bands with female members in the lineup, I'll post it later.

8, I think Just A Girl #10 Spiderwebs #5 Don't Speak #2 Excuse Me. Mr #17 New #7 Ex-Girlfriend #2 Simple Kind of Life #14 It's My Life #36 Whatever their new sound is, it will probably chart on interest alone, as long as it's even remotely "alternative". I think the 90s were the peak period for females charting on this format. The golden years. :'( Didn't Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" go to #1 or #2?

Mazzy Star peaked at #3 on Modern Rock according to Joel Whitburn's Rock Tracks book, also according to the book, The Sundays did spend a week at #1. I hate that i have an edition that only goes to 1995 though.
