"Rock Wit U" makes me mad because the beat is a complete rip-off of LL Cool J's "Luv U Better"

When I watch the video, I am totally reminded of one of Janet Jackson's videos (ugh, the name escapes me, but it is the one when she is on the beach and it is in B&W). Even when Ashanti smiles, she has that JJ smile! :o
Anyways, this song had a quick rise and fall on pop, and not surprisingly. It was not that great, IMO.

Especially when quality R&B songs by real vocalists, like Aaliyah miss the Top 10 and Monica & Mary don't even chart.

"Rock Wit U" wasn't that bad. I liked it a whole lot. :)

"Rock Wit U" wasn't that bad. I liked it a whole lot. :) Yes, it spent 6 weeks at #1 on my chart and is currently #1 for the year end. However, I expect Jody Watley's "Whenever" to steal that position from her by December.

It's my #2 of the year, actually.
It should've at least done as well as Foolish. I was disappointed that it never had a +2000 week.

I hope Rain On Me does just as well. It's a better song. I like Rock Wit U, but it can get annoying at times. If you hear it too much in one day.

I was surprised that this song peaked at #5. It looked like it would fizzle out at around #15 but with the amount of un bulleted songs she had in front of her, she sneaked by into the top 10.

At one point, Ashanti's Rock Wit U had a bullet of over +600 in the Top 10 so the reason why she peaked at #5 ant not #15 wasn't because there were a bunch of unbulleted songs ahead of her.

I'm not a big Ashanti fan but I liked this song for a little while.
The video wasn't very original but she definitely looked her hottest in it, since I have yet to see her look that attractive anywhere else.

Let me rephrase that so i won't have to get into an argument with shadowblue. The reason she picked up steam as she entered the top ten was because there were unbulleted songs in front of her, so stations decided to play her more. I remember one week she jumped like 10-5 or 9-5, which is very rare for a song that has a +500 or so. And the proof for that was that the song had peaked at around 5500 spins, which is pretty low for a #5 peak. Other songs that peaked at #5 like "Fighter" and "Family Portrait" peaked around 6300/6400 spins.

It seems that everyone that was popular in 2002 were only able to score one hit in 2003. Ashanti with "Rock Wit U", Michelle Branch's "Are You Happy Now?" and Nelly's "Shake Ya Tailfeather", all the follow-ups to these songs flopped really badly on Pop and these artists are nowhere to be seen on today's charts (with the exception of the new nelly flop), i wonder if this trend will continue as other artists from 2002 try to make a comeback (*ahem*).

Maybe it means that artists that release singles in the year after the year they were big will flop. Let's see, in 2004 50 Cent will flop and Beyonce and Christina Aguilera.

How is Nelly's "Work It" a flop? It was never released and it's heading towards the Top 20. C'mon now, get your facts straight.

I hope Vanessa Carlton has a nice comeback. Anyone know when her new CD comes out? It doesn't matter, she's from 2002 and she's gonna flop badly. The max might be right, i hope Christina doesn't release anything this year. And Beyonce not releasing anything is the funniest thing i have ever heard this week. Out of all the artists, you really think Beyonce is going to stop being in the spotlight? LOL.

It doesn't matter, she's from 2002 and she's gonna flop badly. So your claim to the argument is that she's gonna flop cause she's from 2002? please.

did "Iz U" even get a proper push from the label? I doubt it...
Also, Murphy Lee's "What Da Hook Gon Be" was performing very strongly on the charts at that time, so I think Nelly and his camp were more focusing on making that the hit, not necessarily "Iz U".

Oh please, Nelly is far from flopping who do you know has sold 15 Million Albums in the US in the past four years, besides Eminem and himself.

'N Sync (more for Justin) and Britney have reached 15,000,000 in certifications over that time (including their albums that were released later in 2000 than today's date).

Nelly's single after "Shake Ya Tailfeather" was "Iz U" which flopped. Yes, but radiorules referred to Nelly's current "flop", which is supposedly "Work It". The way it's going right now though, it doesn't look like a flop to me.
