Right now I don't think it has enough Alternative airplay to make a big difference. We'll see if it can get as much audience as "Lose Yourself" on Alternative. It has over 12 million Alternative audience, which is significant.

The big difference is that "Hey Ya" is a pop record and "The Way You Move" is a rap record. I don't think "The Way You Move" is really rap. My roommate who hates rap likes "Hey Ya!" judging from the SNL performance so it probably isn't rap either.

"Hey Ya!" is definitely not rap. Dre doesn't even rap in any part of the song! At least "The Way You Move" has rapping involved in it.

I think that TWYM would do really good on CHR/pop. It seems more radio-friendly than "Hey Ya!", if you ask me.

I think that "The Way You Move" is way more clichΓ© than "Hey Ya." "Hey Ya" is much different sounding which is what a lot of people want to hear.

The charts do not prove that people don't want to hear cliche. Do I need to elaborate?

No, but I still think "Hey Ya" will do better because it is less clichΓ©. Do I need to elaborate?

LOL, now that I think about it, even though people were looking for another Nirvana to make the pop chart, we got this instead. Probably the most innovative song on the chart in the past 10 years.

I can see one of two things happening. 'Hey Ya' having a gradual but still rather quick peak because of 'The Way You Move', which will go on to be a big hit, or both songs being big simotaneously. I see the second situation happening more than likely though, even if 'The Way' has a slow rise and 'Hey Ya' is still able to peak rather high.
In terms of total airplay (say the Billboard Hot 100 for example), I'd say they could have simotaneous Top 10s since both songs are tops on different formats. I think they could definately get two hits at a time this time around though so no, I don't think they'll be hurt too badly.

I just cant believe how successful both these songs are. I thought one would do way better than the other. But I think they are both doing great.
