Launch has the video. Why bother releasing another single?

Thanks for the info. FINALLY, it's about time... her site keeps saying the video is coming out soon.

I will go check it out now. The single "Trouble With Me" was released in August to AC stations. Only a few stations gave it a try. I don't think there was an adds date.

EDIT: I like the video. It doesn't look like they had a big budget to work with, but I liked what they did with the video for the song. It's better than cheap concert footage and stuff like Kaci's "I'm Not Anybody's Girl" videos.

Lucy was suppose to make a video for "Blindsided," the second single to hit Pop stations, but the song performed so poorly the video concept with scrapped and they went straight ahead to "Trouble With Me." I wished "Standing" was given a chance and released as a single.

Also, I mentioned how Jo Davidson (one of my favorite artists) knows Lucy and if they are friends, etc. Here is her response (I think she avoided my question of "Standing" being a single and told me to request "Trouble With Me" instead):

It's playing on a few stations, a lot of satellite and we just did a video for it so with the help of everyone's request, we can build it up!!! Anyway, Jo and I are friends from the NY scene . I think everyone wants their own Backstreet Boys, Britneys, Avrils, but that has been happening forever. Back in the day everyone had their Jackson 5, Temptations and Supremes. 10 years ago, everyone had their Alanis. There will always be fads and fashions, you know? I think the good ones will last and always come back with good records....that is the difference between fad and a true artist.

Yelpers, I did not know about the SF gig. Plus, I did not bring my Lucy CD with me to college, so I couldn't let her sign it. Also, I don't think she'll enjoy signing an Atlantic promo of her album (Amoeba only had the promos :()

Whoa! I heard this song today in the grocery store, found out what it was, downloaded it, and put it on a CD. Now I found out someone made a topic about it. How weird! Anyway, this song is easily better than "Blindsided," they should have released it second.

Is the Launch video in black and white? When I viewed it there, it was in black and white but when I downloaded the video from LucyWoodward.org, it's in color.

This just makes me hate Atlantic even more. I haven't seen one ounce of promotion for this poor girl ever since they signed her. Is Atlantic fucking stupid? The album isn't going to just promote itself, why do they want to continue to lose money on there projects.

Atlantic didn't have anything to do with the production of this video. The only part they had in it was approving the final edit. Some friends of Lucy's did the video. It was an independent project. Also look for the video to pop up on Apple.com/Quicktime.com soon.

I kinda figured that. It's similar to what happened to Angela Ammons with her "Always Getting Over You" video. The money came out of someone elses' pockets -- not Universal Records.

I think Atlantic gave a lot of promo to Lucy's "Dumb Girls" but after it underperformed, they didn't do scratch.

No, they didn't like Angela Via because she was a girl with high morals. Atlantic doesn't approve of chicas who are proud of their curves.

Angela Via didn't "underperform" with "Picture Perfect." I forgot the amount it sold, but it was TRUCK LOADS!

110,000! And you better believe it! It was in the top 30 of the singles chart forever! :'( I have a Billboard Magazine clipping of the singles sales chart in my famous/non-famous singer scrapbook. #24, I think! July 2000, four months after the single was sent to radio.

I can't believe Lucy is getting a third release. Wow. :o

LUCY WOODWARD responded to me AGAIN (in record time -- less than a day! :o):

I delivered the wonderful news of "More To Life" going Top 10 this week, but Lucy didn't really respond to it. Nor did she respond to my second inquiry of "Standing" being a single (Maybe she really doesn't want it to be a single even though she stated her record company loved it). Also, I asked if she knew Angela Ammons but no response about that lol. (Geoguy, be sure to ask her about her ex-labelmate Angela Via (j/k).)

Well, she told me she made her own "Lucy" shirts which I asked about (I want to make a "Ken" shirt during Winter Break!). I also told her the Launch.com "Trouble With Me" video is in black and white.

Kenneth, Thank you for writing! I did make my own Lucy shirts. I had this beat up old red one where I cut off the sleeves and slit the front and voila! Then people started making them for me in all different colors. Even this year while I was on a radio tour, my guitar player started creating his own shirts like Free Hugs and he even did a couple of my shirts for me. In New Zealand, they made Dumb Girls T shirts at a store called Glasson and when I went there in september, all the salesgirls were wearing them.
I'm glad you like the video! We had a good time making it and it is very different from the Dumb Girls video. Kinda gritty but still a little glam 80's. I must go to Launch.com and check it out - I wonder why it's in b & w....anyway, spread the love and check in with me soon. I love Jo Davidson, by the way!

What a great artist to dedicate time to her fans! Some artists barely even go on their message boards!
