How does this sound Arabic? It sounds like an old Prince production to me. ???

Not the music, just the beat. I can name tons of arabic songs from the early 90's until today that have that beat. We have hundreds of arabic casettes here
You don't see lebanese or egyptian artists ripping off Americans.
Each region have their own style... so americans run out of ideas and they go taking beats from other countries?

Maybe they want to be different by using styles from other countries in their songs. Something that hasn't been heard by most North American ears before. But I guess this whole concept applies to a lot of stuff, more than just music.

Canada and USA are pretty much the same. Cultures are pretty much the same and we mainly speak the same language. It's a completely different culture in Lebanon, different language, different everything.

rebirth, seriously don't question me saying it sounds like arabic beats.. sometimes you act like you know everything. I'm half-lebanese. 90% of my friends are arabic and they always listen to arabic music in front of me. same for my mom. We always watch arabic movies. I think I'd know what an arabic beat sounds like.

...and then Canadians take beats from us. I mean just look at Keshia Chante. Americans try to pass off Canadian cities as American cities because it's "cheaper".

This doesn't sound Arabic to me at all, not does it sound Arabic to either of my 100% Persian friends.
As for Americans borrowing, that's what America is supposed to be. The world's melting pot. I think it's great.
And let's not pretend the entire world hasn't ripped off hip hop, rock, pop, and everything else that originated with Black America.

just a side note, I am studying for my Sociology test and we have a chapter on Mass Media, and one of the key terms is Cultural Imperialism, when one society's media has an overwhelming effect on another society's culture, and since we were talking about US media having an effect on Canadian culture, just thought I'd share...

I first heard this song in September and it was instantly catchy to me and briefly made my chart but I didn't listen a lot for whatever reason. I kinda thought the song flopped. I'm surprised it has taken this long to catch on, even with the Rhythmic formats!

I just heard the song, it's catchy but it repeats itself too much!! I'll predict around #15, but I doubt Top 10.

Well, other than Hey Ya, it has the strongest bullet on the pop chart. It's 34 now, but I think it can hit the top 10.

"Milkshake" has a pretty good shot of going #1 at CHR/Rhythmic. That would definitely give it a major boost at CHR/Pop.

I could see this being a #1 song, but at the least, a top five hit.
As for what milkshake means, I was thinking of something that had to do with body parts. But with the line "I could teach you but I have to charge", is she advocating pimping?

Sounds like another one of those songs by a new Ryhtmic act that peaks at #3 (Sean Paul, Amanda Perez, Baby Bash) so i am predicting #3.

Kelis isn't new. She's been having international success since 1999. I urge anyone to seek out her debut album 'Kaleidoscope', it's stunning. Went gold in the UK.

Kelis tends to get some of their best work, from what I've seen.
