Is anyone else surprised at Someday's endurance? When it didn't exactly rocket up the chart upon its release I thought for sure they were history.

Not surpirsed at all. In fact a few weeks ago, there was a thread saying this exact thing would happen. A quick boost out of nowehere.
I'll go beyond that and say Top 5. It's a great song.

Oops. Didn't see the thread.
Still, I'm surprised, because I would've thought this would go into the top ten quickly, otherwise not at all. I guess rock songs on CHR tend to have different chart runs than normal.

Both "Someday" and "So Far Away" were kind of hanging around without gains. Now Nickelback have really picked up. Great news for this song.

It's weird because I had the same feelings about the song. I thought it was alright but then came late October, and I started loving it.

I loved "Someday" instantly, and felt it would become a huge hit. Looks like it'll make top 10

Not suprised one bit.
I was among the people who believed despite the lukewarm gains for "Someday" a month ago, that it would suddenly explode once more Hot AC-leaning tracks slid from the upper reaches of the chart.
Top 10 looks inevitable for Nickelback, and I am going to predict a #5 peak.
I also believe "Bright Lights" is not quite over and can pull a Stacie Orrico-sort-of move and despite being blockaded at #17 for quite a few weeks, the wait will finally pay off for them and they'll best their #16 peak even if Chingy, Christina Aguilera and Clay Aiken have to pass them first.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I predicted a #4 or #5 peak back on the R&R boards, right as the song was going for adds I think. Just wanted to let you guys know.

I think it's possible that this song could be #1 after Outkast (possibly Baby Bash) because there really isn't much else out there, I doubt Simple Plan will make it and No Doubt doesn't look too good right now. If so it would take at least 6-8 weeks to get there at this rate.

I don't think they will have another #1 hit. Although, they also may end up having a chart history similar to Three Doors Down.

I think Nickelback is going into the top 10 easily. Remember Nickelback is God's band because the lead singer looks like Jesus Actually at the rate they're going now, I can see it hit top 5 before it starts to lose momentum.

Nickelback may make #1, but are you forgetting about Clay Aiken and Christina Aguilera? "Invisible" and "The Voice Within" could easily make Top 5, even #1 aswell.

Yes, but "The Voice Within" is slowing down and I just don't see Clay Aiken making #1, come on if Kelly Clarkson can't make #1 with her first charted single, then why would Clay, he isn't even the real American Idol! I'd like to see "The Voice Within" at #1 though.

well, i liked (and still kinda like) the song, but i must admit that i'm beginning to get burnt on it... if it does get top 10 (standing at #15 currently) i'll be pleasantly surprised, i know it won't make #1 (that would just be a total shock if they do) but a top 10 would be nice.

I never really "disliked" it, but I never paid great attention to it
but being in Toronto, it is force fed to us on a silver platter, so the video is in high rotation on both MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic, and it seems like the video is on at least ONE of those channels, every time you switch to them. And let's not forget the radio, well the only station out of the handful I listen to on the regular that would play it (z103) doesn't play it to death, but they have that CanCon requirement, so I hear it enough.
It was in my head ALL day on Thursday :o so I had to come home, turn on 103.5 and hope it would come on so I could sing along, and get it out of my head, and sure enough it came on ;)
It has a great hook, and Chad's voice has a unique sound that is appealing

Good god, it is just a few spins behind second-greatest gainer. Very suprising run.

You've got to be kidding! Nickelback, Default, Theory Of A Deadman... And that's not all!! However, I think Nickelback does the most with the sound and has the best songs. Chad can write a mean song!

I am not suprised at all that "Someday" suddenly is among the airplay-gaining leaders.
Nickelback's album is full of radio-ready material, while also rockier than their previous album. They have their hooks, Chad's vocals (annoying to some nevertheless stand out) and songwriting which I find to be fairly empassioned. "Someday" truly has some unique couplets with lyrics you don't hear in your typical pop song, like the whole "paperback novel" and "Hollywood horror" thing.
It's all a winning combination. And at the rate it's going, I believe it may give Nickelback their second #1 hit on CHR/Pop. It's bound to leap Simple Plan before the final update to #8 this week, which has a bullet over +500.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Looks like this band will have the same fate as Three Doors Down, having Top 40 hits, but all their Top 10 hits go to #1.

Chad Kroeger has a terrible voice. When he sings, it sounds like he's simultaneously puking.

But this is Jesus' band . Come on, you didn't think it was gonna be any WORSE than top 10 didn't you? Just kidding. I like the video, I'm not too fond of the song and out of those 3 bands I don't know which one ripped off who.

It takes clips from this song, "How You Remind Me", and Theory of a Deadman's "Make Up Your Mind". You can't tell which song is which! www.geocities.com/matt4319/hyrmsomedaymuym.rm

Chad Kroeger has a terrible voice. When he sings, it sounds like he's simultaneously puking. Nevertheless his voice stands out. If it annoys some, then it proves that his vocals reach many and volume is what pays off for a lot of artists in their voices now. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
