Some people feel that the level of secrecy in warnings is not right.
So should we give warnings on the board, or continue to send PMs when we warn someone?
Please vote "yes" or "no".
Speak now, or forever hold your peace.

PM them to warn, but tell us if someone is banned. I don't know if that's what you did, but I'm just saying. I don't want to come to the boards and be like "where's Rob?"
Of course, that's just my suggestion.

You don't need to warn people on the boards. I think all we're asking is that you give explanations for why topics get deleted or locked or whatever. You can delete the posts and then add a post to say that some were deleted due to an argument. And when you lock a topic, say the topic was locked due to an overbundance of posting, please post in the topic labeled part 2, or due to an argument or due to completely gone offtopic (at which point it would have been moved to off topic, i would think). You don't need to say "Locked because so-and-so wouldn't stop arguing" or whatever.
And maybe if someone gets banned, I wouldn't leave it up to you guys to make the topic saying "X was banned" but not frown upon a topic if it were made by someone else. That's the way it was at R&R. If someone was banned, a topic would be made by someone else to tell everyone else that that person was banned and then if the reason was unknown, members would discuss it.

Well the member in question should definitely be warned by a PM. However, I agree that everyone doesn't need to know about it.
I think that an official announcement that someone has been banned is appropriate, along with the reasons without going into too much detail. That might teach others to also watch themselves.

On R&R, no moderator or administrator ever acknowledged a member's banning on the boards. We were just left to assume they were banned because they didn't post anymore. However, I wouldn't put that out of the question here if there was a lot of agreement that topics should be made if a user was banned. That's another question entirely though.

PM that person when warning, but notify other people if somebody is banned.

Just PM the person. It is none of our business WHY they are being banned, unless the accused party decides to tell someone.

I'm gonna say "Yes," because its wrong for "Yes" to get zero votes. I always root for the underdog.
