It looks like by tomorrow Outkast's "The Way You Move" will take out Simple Plan for #5. It could also pass up Nickelback and 3 Doors Down next week, so Outkast could begin the new year occupying #1 and #3 :o When was the last time an artist had 2 songs in the top 3 or 5??

I'm not sure, but it's definitely been a long time. The closest I remember was at the end of the summer last year when Nelly occupied the #5 and #6 spots in the same week. I think Avril Lavigne came close too but didn't quite do it.

Mariah did it with "One Sweet Day" and "Fantasy".

Yes she did. Ashanti did the same thing. It was not to the degree that Outkast has done mainly becuase of the way they did what they are doing, with the two albums and three different people singing the two singles. The marketing scheme deserves an A+

I hated both Complicated and Dilema. It certainly wasn't a good time in music to me.

Outkast sucks. "The Way You Move" is tolerable, but "Hey Ya" has got to be one of, if not THE stupidest, most pointless song I have ever heard. I totally do not understand what the buzz is about that song.

Also, for everyone discussing the last time an artist had two simultaneous Top 5 songs... Neither Nelly or Avril Lavigne did in the summer of 2002. They both had two Top 6's at some point, but never two Top 5's. As for who the last artist to do it... It was probably Mariah Carey in late 1995, which was mentioned already. I don't think it's happened since then, but I'm not sure.

i think the intresting thing about "hey ya" is it has such a retro sound about it .it has got a kind of 5o',60's r&b ,rock thing as well as an 80's new wave thing about it .it is one of those songs that just jumps right out at you because there is nothing out there right now quite like it.

"Hey Ya" is a winning combination clever yet simple, straight-forward lyrics as well as bringing back feel-good, sing along music of the 60s with the addition of synth sound effects. I can't see why anyone can deny the near perfection of this song. If an artist deserves success like this, let it be Outkast.

If I wanted a sing-a-long song I would watch sesame street or go do karaoke at some cheesy bar/restaurant.
