Hmn.. where's the topic for this? Well, it's right here now. Anyway I was right - Friday 9th is the day the chart pretty much goes back to normal. Outkast is once again gaining over 900 spins.
Staind is over 3000 again, and might reach a new peak of #19.
Trapt is back in the Top 10 and hopefully will stay there until at least Monday.
Recurrent schedule, anyone?
Stacie Orrico goes recurrent this week.

When does Fountains of Wayne and Michelle Branch go recurrent? Pretty soon... Michelle's only at 12 weeks as of 1/10. The rest of the recurrent schedule for the next few weeks: Recurrent On 1/16:Kelly Clarkson; Stacie Orrico Recurrent On 1/23:none scheduled (but, probably, Santana) Recurrent On 1/30:Matchbox Twenty; Staind (if back below #20) Recurrent On 2/6:Fountains Of Wayne Recurrent Whenever They Fall Below #20 (followed by weeks on as of 1/10):Santana featuring Alex Band (26); Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins (20); Trapt (23); Beyonce' featuring Sean Paul (19); 3 Doors Down (21); Baby Bash featuring Frankie J. (18)

Really..i thought she was up near 18 or 19. No...she debuted at #35 (or was it 37?) and after that, rose quickly to the 25-21 range, where she stalled forever........ Didn't these songs debut in two separate weeks?

Didn't these songs debut in two separate weeks? Stacie's over 20 weeks and is going recurrent because she dropped below #20. Kelly's just hit over 20 weeks.

I don't think I've ever seen the spins totals, the amount of bullets, and the total of all of the bullets so high. The top 9 are all over 5000, and the highest is almost 9300! Staind should've been gone 3 months ago! This song has been out for well over 6 months. By the looks of the chart right now everything seems to be very unpredictable, it's still nice to see Sarah McLachlan holding on and hopefully Switchfoot will pick up. I really hope the Twista song doesn't go very far, it's starting to pick up, I blame it on MTV, the LaLa girl on TRL told everyone to vote for it and get it up the countdown, maybe she should've specified which countdown, MTV seems to support hip-hop and rhytmic far more than anything else.

"Low" is Number 57 so how is Kelly going recurrent?

"Low" is Number 57 so how is Kelly going recurrent? Because she spent her 20th week on, and she therefore will be recurrent unless Mediabase does like they did with the Ataris and left them on after their 20th week because they were no longer top 50.

It was already posted that you need to spend a 21st week on the chart to go recurrent. I'd like to see "The Boys Of Summer" and "Low" go recurrent. I already proposed having two recurrent sections, one for songs that went recurrent and another for songs that didn't, or they could say whether or not the song went recurrent from 20 weeks on the recurrent page. Having songs that have been out for 20 weeks not going recurrent makes the peak positions worse for songs like "Forever And For Always" and "Never (Past Tense)" that did not chart. Weeks on chart is really the only thing I'd like that the magazine has that isn't available for free. I guess I could keep track of the debuts every week myself. The schedule means "Bright Lights" has one less week on the Billboard Hot 100 than CHR-Pop so Matchbox Twenty will have two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at once both of which already went recurrent on CHR-Pop.

I agree that Mediabase should move songs that didn't spend 20 weeks in the top 50 to recurrent (as well as moving old recurrents to gold) on a more regular basis. Wasn't it in January or February last year that they moved a large chunk of songs to recurrent at the same time (although they missed a few like Kosheen's "Hide U" )?

And then they did it again some time last summer I think. "Just A Friend" by Mario had fell 45-51 in its 21st week and still went recurrent though.

I hope "Suga Suga" loses its bullet soon. I'm about tired of that song.
Thanks, Ben

"The Way You Move" makes #3! Outkast will either replace themselves at #1 or have the top 2 positions for at least one week. Our next task is to get rid of that tiring "Suga Suga."
I really hate to see Limp Bizkit not doing will......I wish he would pick up along with Kiley Dean, Switchfoot, Jason Mraz, Hilary Duff, Mya and Alicia Keys. These songs could be in a future Top 10 (in my dreams.)
What do you think of Jessica Simpson as a surprise #1? I actually see this possible after Nickelback and Outkast have their stays at #1. Although she may have to battle significantly with Linkin Park (and hopefully Evanescence, because I'm sure they will go Top 3 ;) ;) ) I can't believe many people originally thought this song wouldn't beat the peak of "Sweetest Sin." I've been waiting a long time for people to discover just how talented Jessica is...and now might be the time.

I don't think I've ever seen the spins totals, the amount of bullets, and the total of all of the bullets so high. I wonder if, along with recently adding Jazz and Latin stations, MediaBase has also kicked in a few new CHR/Pop reporters, which would bump up the tallies?

For the 1/9 chart, there were 128 CHR/Pop reporters (compared to 129 for the 12/19/03 chart). Not sure if they've added any during this week, though.

Well many of the recurrents are losing a lot of spins thanks to the year-end countdowns a week or so ago, so naturally you'd expect the currents to be gaining more than usual.

"The Way You Move" makes #3! Outkast will either replace themselves at #1 or have the top 2 positions for at least one week. I wonder how R&R will treat this. I mean, really it is NOT replacing "themselves" at #1 because each song is a SOLO song by one of the members of a duo. In fact, some stations announce Hey Ya! as "Andre 3000 with Hey Ya!" and not Outkast, as the charts have. It will be interesting to see how the official record is laid down though. If it were up to me, I would not allow that to be the record because it simply is not true. I don't see how it is allowed that another member not even on the song gets recognition for it under a group name... ridiculous if you ask me and a sorry attempt to disguise the solo efforts of each artist.

Here's what it's looking like so far: "Hey Ya" holds onto #1. Not much action in the top 10, Trapt regains a bullet and knocks Beyoncé out. Next week, Christina, Jessica, and Linkin Park will be fighting it out for that final top 10 spot. Eamon enters the top 20, allowing Stacie Orrico to go recurrent. Evanescence will be up to #23 once Stacie goes recurrent... hopefully they keep their momentum up and make top 20 Sheryl Crow and Kelly Clarkson make the top 30. Britney Spears and Nick Cannon >:( enter the top 40. Jason Mraz and Limp Bizkit both fall out, but with bullets. Twista, Switchfoot, and G-Unit all enter the top 50. The top New & Active songs will likely be: 1. Kylie Minogue 2. Youngbloodz (when will they lose their bullet for good?) 3. Lucky Boys Confusion 4. Blink 182 5. Sarah Connor 6. Hilary Duff 7. Default 8. Lasgo 9. Black Eyed Peas 10. Kid Rock

Updates to Bry's post, as of the final Mediabase update: - Kiley Dean re-enters the top 40, beating out Jason Mraz by 5 spins for #40. -Kylie Minogue makes it into the top 50, moving 67-49, and pushing G Unit back to #51, denying them a top 50 entry. -Switch G Unit for Kylie, and the likely top 10 New & Active will be the same.

Mediabase removed Kelly Clarkson but still leaves Ataris on...what's up with that? Yeah I don't know either. Interestingly, the Ataris missed the chart by just 6 spins last week. I guess if they had made #50, R&R would have just kept "Low" at #50, but would Mediabase have sent it to recurrent at that point?

Or, it's possible that Mediabase decided to remove Kelly because even after the year-end break she was STILL charting (which translates to longer than The Ataris). --I just realized this now.
