So, what song will take #1 for 2004? Will it be "Here Without You"? "The Way You Move"? "Someday"? "My Immortal"? Or will it be a song that hasn't even charted yet?
I'm placing my bet on "My Immortal", but I think all four of those listed above will finish in the top 20.

I see 3 Doors Down at #37, Outkast in the 20s, Nickelback probably Top 10 and 'My Immortal' in the 20s also.
#1 for the year hasn't charted yet. ;)

I think it'll be either "Someday" or "Numb." Both songs will be around for awhile.

He predicted "When I'm Gone" as the #1 song of 2003 a year ago yesterday. I was actually thinking about this earlier today, and pinpointed "Someday" and "Numb" as the two songs with the best chance at this point.

For charted songs. . . only "My Immortal," "Numb" really have a chance to be number at the end of the year.

I don't see "My Immortal" staying around in high airplay come summer. It's a really wintry song.

Wouldn't it be interesting if "Someday" and "Numb" were 1-2 for the year? The same artists would be #1 and #2 two years apart (I think "In the End" was #2 for 2002 and "Complicated" was #3).

Actually Blurry was #2 in '02. ITE was #3. I liked Blurry "Blurry" peaked at #4, so it couldn't have been #2 for the year. And I liked "Blurry" too. In fact, it was the first song to hit #1 on my chart for at least 6 weeks.

It means nothing because it peaked at #4. It apparently had enough spins or audience to snag the #2 of the year position. Faith Hill got the #1 hot 100 song of the year without having been #1 on the hot 100 so I am not shocked at all.

They're not talking about the Hot 100.

I'd say right now "Numb" and "My Immortal" are the best bets; I'd say they'll be the top 2 for the year.
"Here Without You" will be around #20, "Someday" around #13, and "Hey Ya" will be around #9.

They're not talking about the Hot 100. The point I was making is that it doesn't matter what your peak is during the year when it comes to the year end R&R Pop charts. It goes by the amount of spins or audience (depending on which one you look at) that were accumulated throughout the year. You may get #1 but get to #1 with a low spin total and someone at #4 may have a very high spin total.

Cool... the top 5 songs all hit #1 on my chart. LOL, Complicated is all the way down at #7. I can see where you're coming from, but the reason I said that is that I knew the top two or three songs of the year on the CHR/Pop chart hit #1 (but I couldn't remember the order of the songs). I also knew that "Blurry" peaked at #4, so I put two and two together.

I may have predicted "When I'm Gone" but I seem to remember predicting "Clocks" as the number 1 of 2003. Oh well.

I think it'll be "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera. geez...im one of the biggest christina fans on the bored and im definately not holding my breath. The chances of TVW being #1 for 04, is the same chances of Hanson hitting the top 10 with "MMMBop 04".

Are your second and third predictions "I Drove All Night" and "I Showed Her"? I sure hope "I Showed Her" makes it! That song peaked at number 44 last year, and hopefully the time frame starts in March, 2003 or so. Actually, I do know of a year end chart on which "I Showed Her" was number one: my personal Top 30 in 2003! I don't know about "I Drove All Night", though. Let's not rule out "Stacy's Mom" either.

The chances of TVW being #1 for 04, is the same chances of Hanson hitting the top 10 with "MMMBop 04". On the last Mediabase update, that song debuted at number eleven. With all the points it's gaining, it should easily hit the Top Ten next week, maybe even the Top Five. Maybe it'll be the top song of 2004.

Perhaps they might have a chance with their new single, Penny and Me ;) ;) Anyways, apparently I suck at predicting things, so I am taking a break for awhile. I dont think it will be My Immortal or Numb however.

Oh that's the BDS Multi Format Total. It surveys over 900 radio stations from all formats. It's like the spin version of The Hot 100 Airplay year-end chart.

It's probably going to again be a song by a rock band, my first choise would "My Immortal," then "Numb." But it also could be something that has not been released to pop yet.

I really don't think either "My Immortal" or "Numb" will do as well for the 2004 chart as you guys predict, as much as I like both tracks a lot. Neither song will have the staying power of previous songs by the same band that reached #2 for the year (BMTL and ITE). Same thing with "Somday". Though I don't think it's likely, I'd love it if all three tracks make the year end top 10.
The #1 song of 2004 will probably come around late spring or something, like it normally does.
