:) :) x 1000 at Christina's fall. Watching her go down is better than opening presents on Christmas Day. ROTFLMAO! Thats definitely one of the funniest things I have heard in a very long time here. I couldn't agree more though. No one will understand the joy I experience every time something of Christina's collapses. JOYGASM!!

I think a peak of #12 for a 5th single is damn good, #11 on Billboard. :) All her singles performed better than her first single. While you are revelling in the fast fall of an already successful 5TH SINGLE, I am happy that Britney managed to score a hit, her record label had to shell out plenty of dough for it I'm sure. ;)

Payola has nothing to do with that songs success. And LMAO at Jimmy, I'm sure she knows exactly what its like

Well the bad news is that:
recurr CHRISTINA AGUILERA Beautiful 326 299 27 2.166
But still, that's a net loss of SIXTEEN HUNDRED for Christina's Stripped ballads, so I'm happy.

What I find funny is that "Dirrty" and "Beautiful" are getting around the same amount of airplay("Dirrty" was even ahead of "Beautiful" for a week or two recently) despite "Beautiful" supposedly being the 'comeback hit' after 'that big flop'.

Yeah. my station is all over " Dirrty" and won't touch "Beautiful" again. I guess it's just too boring.

Didn't TVW, the fifth single, outpeak Me Against The Music, Britney's comeback song, that not only had payola, but Madonna on it, as well as a record release? And Christina didn't even have to get married to hit the top ten. that's gotta BURN.

It doesn't surprise me that Christina is dropping like this, I haven't heard the song on my local radio stations for nearly a month in a half, "The Voice Within" sounds so "Christmas" to me. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did actually. Nobody has really mentioned much about the new Chingy song, it's now the 11th biggest gainer, +526, how far do you think it will go? I haven't heard it, but I'll say around #17. Also the Cassidy-R.Kelly song is gaining pretty fast, isn't this song really old, like last summer? This will be 3 Doors Down's 22nd week in the Top 10, 28th week in the top 40 (counting the 2-week break), they may make another week in the top 10, and still their only losing -371, and No Doubt may pass them allowing them to stay even longer, 24 weeks in the top 10! Is that in the top 5 for longest run in the top 10?? So is "Here Without You" possibly the biggest hit single since "Hanging By A Moment?"

...24 weeks in the top 10! Is that in the top 5 for longest run in the top 10?? Sounds like it could be. I know that the longest reigning top 10 to date is "Iris". If I correctly recall, that spent 28 weeks in the top 10. Anything in the top 10 longer than 20 weeks is certainly up there.

For as much as you all make fun of Christina's REAL talent(she has a GREAT singing voice), I'll make fun of Britney, as she has never had a #1 song that I can remember. Make fun of real talent, because it's REAL artists that prevail in the end, not superficial studio affects!

Didn't TVW, the fifth single, outpeak Me Against The Music, Britney's comeback song, that not only had payola, but Madonna on it, as well as a record release? Actually, TVW peaked at #12 and MATM peaked at #11. So no it didn't. I am a little surprised at Christina's super drop down the pop chart. It's a little reminiscent of "I Turn To You" in 2000. I would also like to say that I think people put way too much emphasis on the single number. Yes, it is a fifth single, but should that really matter to radio or to the listeners? I mean, except for AT40 (which probably doesn't do it anymore), the average listener probably could care less if Christina released 3 or 10 singles from one album, so long as the song appeals to listeners. Many times albums are made with only 3 or 4 radio-single worthy songs anyways, so that is why people are shocked when others release a fifth or sixth release. But I think people on these boards put too much emphasis on this fact as a way of (a) making an excuse for an artist's falter on the charts or (b) praising the artist's continued success. The fact is - TVW is appealing, but it is certainly not a longlasting song period. The song gets olds quick and listeners have heard the song since before Christmas. Plus, LOTS of new music is pushing its way into pop right now, so such a song will be one of the first to exit the station's playlists.

Make fun of real talent, because it's REAL artists that prevail in the end, not superficial studio affects! Of course, REAL talent is so subjective that you or I could claim that about our favorite artist and still be correct. Plus, you must not follow the pop chart much because artists with "REAL talent" like Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Josh Groban are not making the grade on pop radio and are even having problems on AC (except the latter), a format that should be open to these talents. And if REAL talent like Mariah's leads to the road she was on, I don't think we want Christina to have that sort of talent. Besides, what is REAL talent today will not be "REAL talent" a couple of years from now. That is way of music - popular artists rise and fall with the tide. Some persist, and others just fade away.

If superficial studio e[/i]ffects don't last, then why were Cher and Madonna able to prevail for so long?

Jive had to after the disaster that was "MATM" and her album falling short on expectations.

Hey... that sounds like exactly what several people said this time last year, except replace "Toxic" with "B*******l", and "MATM" with " D****y"! :o Coincidence? I think not! Edit: Oh and replace "Jive" with "RCA".

Back on topic agian, which I've posted 2 posts about the current chart which only one person since then has decided to get back on topic. Maybe the chart is picking back up where it did leave off in 2003, not the top 20, but the lower positions. All of the good songs are stalling out in the 30's. Poor Mya, "Fallen" was a great song, it at least deserved top 20! And Alicia Keys, this is a great song too, and now Switchfoot is slowing down really fast, below +100. I blame it all on the new rhythmic songs that are quickly rising, Twista, Usher, Nick Cannon and Nelly, and plus that bland Janet Jackson song. I'm beginning to wonder if Michelle Branch will even make the top 50 with "Til' I Get Over You."

Out of the immediate contenders for #1, I'd want Jessica to hit #1 more than Nickelback, since "Someday"'s got quite old to me now.
I'd rather have "Numb", "My Immortal", or "Toxic" hitting #1, and I feel that at least one of them will hit #1, but it'll take a few weeks.

Let's hope Jessica gets to #1 and then Evanescence. As much as "Toxic" doesn't deserve to be #2, I actually hope it peaks there behind Jessica or Evanescence. That would be sweet. Lol! Didn't TVW, the fifth single, outpeak Me Against The Music, Britney's comeback song, that not only had payola, but Madonna on it, as well as a record release? And Christina didn't even have to get married to hit the top ten. that's gotta BURN. On the Hot 100 yes, but one place lower on Pop. Regardless, my prediction for "The Voice Within" was #9, so I was close. Much closer (and realistic) than people who predicted it to miss the Top 20. :)
