The only two Mariah albums I own are "Butterfly" (the first Mariah album I bought) and "Glitter"
I do like "Glitter", it has some cool collaborations on there, but I'll go with Butterfly

Daydream, though her self-titled debut CD is also pretty good.

I bet almost all of the people voting are voting on singles alone. Then we of course have people who never even heard a Mariah song until "Fantasy". Anyway, my ranking of her albums is: 1. Mariah Carey 2. Butterfly 3. Glitter 4. Daydream 5. Emotions 6. Music Box 7. Rainbow 8. Charmbracelet

I'm confused; aren't we judging the albums by the singles from the album? If not the songs, then what---how Mariah looks on the cover? And about "Fantasy"--- judging by your age, wouldn't that have been one of the first songs you heard by Mariah? :) I'm not trying to say you don't know her earlier hits because obviously you do; just making a remark here. Something tells me you don't quite remember when "Vision Of Love" first came out! And yes, the debut CD had a lot of great tracks, many that had that '80s sound that was still popular at the time.

I was a Nirvana fan by the age of two, so don't tell me what my remembrance of music is.

Josh, cool it; I realize you have an extensive knowledge of music. Age two, I admit I can't beat that. Now about judging the album, what do you mean "the entire album"? When I used the term "singles", I meant the songs from the album, not just those that had a commercial release. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant. Obviously one has to consider all the songs, otherwise it would be a song poll and not an album poll.

Yes, you misunderstood me. "Singles" to me are the releases. "Songs" are the songs.

"Music Box", followed by 'Daydream" and "Mariah Carey".
Those three are way ahead of the others for me.

The albums are listed in the wrong order 'Music Box' should come before 'Daydream'. Sorry to be nitpicky. I bet almost all of the people voting are voting on singles alone. Then we of course have people who never even heard a Mariah song until "Fantasy". What's wrong with that? For me, I would have voted on singles alone and I own all of the albums above (except for 'Glitter') and the tons of times I listened to 'Daydream', I can still only recognize 6 of the songs from it. And people who didn't hear a Mariah song before 'Fantasy' shouldn't be talked down to either. Maybe they only heard what they wanted and weren't interested enough to go back?
Definately you should judge by the entire album but judge what you like from the album. I didn't get into 'Daydream' really a lot. I voted for 'Butterfly' because it's the album I liked the most when I listened to it. Although even still, I only got into like half of it, it's still more than 'Daydream' or 'Charmbracelet' or any of the other Mariah albums. So I admit that I pretty much voted on singles except 'Butterfly' had the edge because of the few album tracks that did stand out for me.
