Surprised OOTB wasn't another rap as apparently it's Ryan's genre of choice.
RST40 loses more credibility each week just based on one position.

You people act like 50 Cent is on the chart 10 times all with songs over a year old. It's not that big a deal. It kinda adds some fun to the chart!

$100 says if it falls off next week, itll re-enter the next. Or he'll play it as an AT40 Rewind. Y'know, because it was (will be) number one a year ago this week.

It kinda adds some fun to the chart! Yes, if by "fun" you mean "boring." And it's not just 50... it's all the other recurrents clogging up the bottom half of the show (50 is just the most extreme example). New music would be nice to hear.

Well 50 Cent might be gone within the next 30 weeks, but once he leaves, we have a whole new bunch of songs whom we can place our frustrations of RST40...
After 50 Cent (31 non-consecutive weeks):
#37: Lil' Jon f/ The Eastside Boyz & Ying Yang Twins: Get Low (29 consecutive weeks) #36: Nelly f/ P. Diddy & Murphy Lee: Shake Ya Tailfeather (36 non-consecutive weeks) #33: BeyoncΓ© f/ Sean Paul: Baby Boy (30 consecutive weeks) #36: Maroon 5: Harder To Breathe (36 non-consecutive weeks) #26: Trapt: Headstrong (31 consecutive weeks) #23: Simple Plan: Perfect (25 consecutive weeks) -------- Above #20: #17: Baby Bash f/ Frankie J: Suga Suga (25 consecutive weeks) #16: 3 Doors Down: Here Without You (34 consecutive weeks, likely to break 40 or 45 before they're done) #08: Nickelback: Someday (25 consecutive weeks)
This will never come to an end.

This makes me wonder what AT40's yearend countdown for 2004 will look like... probably a bit like Rick Dees', where songs that went recurrent before the start of the chart year still show up on the yearend chart.

That's what I'm afraid of--excessive amounts of recurrents.
AT40 always had some recurrents in the yearend shows, and Casey stated once (2002 yearend I believe) that some particular song charted the previous year, but had enough steam to pull it through on to the yearend chart.

AT40 always had some recurrents in the yearend shows, and Casey stated once (2002 yearend I believe) that some particular song charted the previous year, but had enough steam to pull it through on to the yearend chart. And those were songs that were on the chart within the chart year (which usually starts the first week in December of the previous year, due to deadline purposes). That's the good thing about R&R's year end chart; a song has to be on the chart for at least one week during the chart year to be counted for the year-end Top 100. If not, it would be full of recurrents and other songs that would have otherwise made the list would be shut out. I think that maybe the staff of AT40 might want to take that into consideration when computing the year end chart. But probably not; I'm sure we'll have to hear "In Da Club" again.

Hey, I'd rather hear any of those songs than "In Da Club". I just beef about that song like everyone else because I hate it so much. If it was a halfway decent song, I wouldn't mind at all.

I think that maybe the staff of AT40 might want to take that into consideration when computing the year end chart. Hopefully they do, but the staff doesn't really have much say over what goes on with the show anymore. I do like the fact that at least AT40's history is not ignored like it was in Shadoe's days. You can actually hear Ryan saying "That song spent 5 weeks at #1 on AT40..." or "AT40 was created by my man Casey Kasem and Don Bustany." If I recall correctly, in the first Shadoe show, he did an AT40 history walk, but after that nothing. The only reference to the show's creator was in the credits.

I should get back to writing down all the AT40s again. Or just continue my AT40 archives with using the new AT40 charts (all of which are on these boards but I hope they aren't getting deleted) so then we can see exactly how many weeks certain songs have on.

Shadoe probably wasn't allowed to mention Casey after the first show since Casey was going to be a competitor to AT40. That isn't the case this time since Casey "retired" from pop countdown shows.
