Ha this is my new favorite ghetto hip hop song of the moment.
Can't see it doing very well at pop though.

If "Get Low", "Salt Shaker" and "Yeah" could make the top 40(the first two without ever going for pop adds), there's no reason why this won't too.

This song is a great weekend play and night song. Great beat, and agreed, if Get Low could make top 10, this song can at least hit Top 40. I'll say this will peak in the lower 20's. Be Cheap, RK

I absolutely love this song! It is one of my guilty pleasures at the moment. The track is so 'stank'! 'Stank,' in a good way of course. I love to get down this track every now and then. I hear it so much on my local Urban and Rhythmic stations. I'll definitely bump this track when I visit the South this summer. My favorite part to the song is when Petey calls those 'signature' black girl names, "Shameka, Kiesha, Tara, Shawna..." It is so funny and commercial when he does that. I find "Freek-A Leek" to be one of those songs that have a great melody for pop radio but I don't think Petey deleted's rap vocals throughout the track is radio friendly enough for the mainstream format. I would compare "Freek-A-Leek's" predicted performance to the 2003 hit by "one hit" wonder rap artist Bonecrusher called "Never Scared." I think "Freek-A-Leek" will follow the same pattern as "Never Scared," which did well on both the Rhythmic and Urban chart and then subsequently made it to some Rhythmic leaning pop stations' playlists. At the time "Never Scared" was out, I felt it deserved to crossover because it did have an enjoyable pop melody. But some pop program/music directors may have felt that vocally the song was too "hard" for their playlists. It can be tricky to tell sometimes. :) I personally wouldn't mind "Freek-A-Leek" to be played at CHR/Pop.

I kinda like this crunk era when I go to clubs and stuff. But only if I know the songs.

Has this out-peaked "Raise Up" on the Hot 100?
It is #13 on the Hot 100 and Raise Up peaked at #15, I believe? Not sure
What about on Pop/Rhy/Urb, is this Petey's most successful single?

A trend I've noticed on this board is a lot of you are hip hop haters. You like to see some decent hip hop songs enter the charts but fall quickly. Like it or not, the trend of pop, which sells primarily to girls/women ages 12 - 30, is listeners like their "jam" to come on the radio and they like to get up and dance. People don't want to hear depressing songs about why so and so hates their dad (Perfect by Simple Plan) or other depressing stuff like that over and over. They wanna jam, dance, rhyme with the music. And I personally like Freak-A-Leek. I do think that the whole radio stunt at the beginning is going to kill the song as it gets more and more annoying the more times you hear it. But still, the pop trend is becoming more rhythmic. And I enjoy listening to the many hip hop songs which about a year ago, you'd only hear on Urbal Radio, on pop stations. Get over your "may this rap crap fail" philosiphy.

It's been said before: Only the same few people are the only ones who say that about rap. I honestly am okay with music that anyone listens to. I find a lot of country music too sappy or whiny (in an annoying way), so I generally tend to dislike it.
However, your post is a bit stereotypical. Some people who don't like hip-hop also don't like Simple Plan.
BTW, I never really liked this song. See the two quotes that Matt4319 quoted. Most songs like this sound the same becuz Lil' Jon is in them, but this is a mess IMO.

A trend I've noticed on this board is a lot of you are hip hop haters. If you're including me in that group, you'd be wrong. Almost a quarter of my personal chart is rhythmic, rhythmic/alternative, urban, or dance. People don't want to hear depressing songs about why so and so hates their dad (Perfect by Simple Plan) or other depressing stuff like that over and over. "Perfect" got to #4 on Pop, so I think that statement is at least partially wrong. But still, the pop trend is becoming more rhythmic. And I enjoy listening to the many hip hop songs which about a year ago, you'd only hear on Urbal Radio, on pop stations. Personally, I think the rhythmic trend peaked about a year ago. You'd have to go back about four years for there to be a real hip-hop drought on pop radio.

Personally, I like hip-hop trends the way they are now. Before the whole urban phase on mainstream pop radio, you'd be REALLY hard pressed to find a rap song to make the Top 10. It's good now because a rap song has an equal chance as rock or pop of hitting #1 so now the chart isn't so one sided. However, it did kinda get a bit one sided to "jam" music but it's now starting to sway back. This is prolly just a transition period but it's a good one.
