:o
It's a good song, but I would never have pegged it for a pop crossover.

Well, this isn't a band that I'd like to see have a pop hit this quickly, but if this or that Modest Mouse song get anywhere, they owe Jet a steak dinner. I knew a song like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" was eventually going to break through to pop, and I had a feeling that once it did, it'd open the door for other songs like this one.
"Take Me Out" rules, by the way.

This song is awesome, and one of the best Alternative singles of 2004.
However, I don't see this being a big hit at CHR/Pop. The video has very much eye-candy and that MTV attention may get the single past New & Active status.
However, I don't even think this could go Top 40. It's just too good for the format.
My Prediction: #48
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

as much top 40... but this is maybe too alternative for Pop radio. The beginning is fine for pop, but then the songs becomes more and more alternative... just an opinion

This song is so repetitive. As are most of the higher charting top 40 singles.

Franz Ferdinand need to release Michael to CHR.
It would be the greatest CHR single...

It is the catchiest song of the year, hands down.
It needs to stay out of the top 40, though. We don't need any more shitty dance remix's and appearances on Kidz Bopz cd's when you have a song as great as this one. It was bad enough hearing 'em do that to "The Reason", "Numb", and "Clocks" (to name a few).

That would be horrific...
Very horrific indeed.
If Jet released Cold Hard Bitch to CHR, how would the kids bop people be able to twist it around?

I guess I have to agree with the "perks" that come with having a hit song. I have to believe if "Clocks" is gonna get f***ed up (which was a great song by a great band, and it only peaked at, what, #28?), "Take Me Out" likely won't get spared. As much as I'd like to see "Take Me Out" go straight to #1, all the hoopla that goes with having a strong top 40 hit, most of which may butcher the song long after its chart run is over, I don't want the novelty stuff.

Well, for what it's worth, Daft Punk has done a remix of the song already.

This song is boring and repetative This song had the potential to be good, (sigh) but its not. :( I strongly disagree. Many songs you hear on mainstream radio nowadays seem to stay course in tempo throughout the whole track. But "Take Me Out" starts out with more of a single bass note vibration before all a sudden the tempo slows down and then kicks off with the suave signature lick. You just don't hear many artists nowadays that aren't afraid to speed up or slow down a track. "Take Me Out" has quite a catchy hook that is reminiscent to a blend of David Byrne, Depeche Mode or a number of new wave garage acts. It makes me happy to see Alternative embracing this type of rock again, and, moreover, finding its way into mainstream. It's refreshing. I do enjoy "The Dark of the Matinee" a bit more in comparison, as it changes tempo and speed even more, but "Take Me Out" is, to me, easily one of the best of 2004. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The Dark Of the Matinee is the better song in my opinion, lyrically and musically, and I think the video for it is better than Take Me Out, but that doesn't discount that (in my opinion for that matter), this owns anything that's been #1 on CHR this year.
