[EvanJ]This should be in Global Music Forum.[/EvanJ] Well if the Top 50 Canadian CHR Chart belongs in this forum, this topic certainly does.

The original rule of this board was that songs released to CHR/Pop and charts that discussed airplay could be discussed in the format forums. They can't go around changing how the board works because someone doesn't like a few topics about songs they don't like because they aren't american releases that get made.
YAY for Chantal and her two Top 100 appearances. Too bad Alanis didn't release a fourth single from her CD. Surrendering actually did quite well in Canada considering it didn't have a video or any real support behind it.

Parts 1 and 2 are up now. I know they normally do 20 songs at a time, but I hope it doesn't take them five weeks to do the Top 100. If they do 40 the first week I predict they will do 40 next week then 20.

Actually no, they did 40 songs this week and will be doing 60 songs next week. But each part is still 20 songs in length, so that's why I mentioned Parts 1 and 2 were up.

Yay for CanCon!
Not really surprised Avril would be #1. I'm surprised at how low some songs are compared to ours. The Remedy at #94 :o

Well "The Remedy..." never even made the Top 20 C3 Countdown, so it's not that surprising. I'm surprised at "Why Don't You & I" though, I knew it was played for a long time, but I didn't expect it to be #3.
Avril is now the first artist to have the #1 year-end song for two consecutive years. "Complicated" was #1 for 2002.

I'm just surprised at how popular the song is here compared to Canada.
Kind of like the Black Eyed Peas-Shut Up topic that I just made a post on in the Your Opinion Please forum.
And wow at Complicated. It made the chart 2 years in a row. There probably aren't all that many songs that have done that.

re. af18c, how many names does he log on under? Radiorules, rayromano... what up with that? Is he preparing for his latest banning?
re. songs making more than one year's countdown, this is quite common, no?

Yes, especially when some of last year's recurrents carry over.

Lol, this is ridiculous. 1) Why would you even care who's #1 in Canada? You don't live there. 2) And if Avril does spend more time up north, then her singles will probably do even better in Canada than they are already doing. Expect her to grab the Top 3 spots on next year's year-end countdown then. So what you do if that happens? Roll your eyes even more?

Why is yhis topic not in the global link??? Candian charts have as little to do with CHR/ Pop as the Cambodian Chart.

Yup, in fact I heard Cambodia is pretty nice this time of year. No snow, and Cambodian Idol Season 2 is starting soon.

I'm glad "Clocks" did so well. I wished it placed higher on the US charts. BTW, was this chart compiled for Jan-Dec? I thought Baby Bash would be higher than #100.

I'm pretty sure it was compiled from Dec-Nov, because otherwise there wouldn't be enough time to record the show.

No need to be rude. i was just saying why don't we post about every country that has CHR/Pop (which is more than just the U.S. and Canada). I was not try to disrespect Canada or Canadians.

I was not try to disrespect Canada or Canadians. Sorry. It wasn't meant to be rude to you from me. I was just reciting a saying used once in a while here by someone that says it whenever someone else disputed with a decision of his. ;) I'm glad you pointed out that it was rude and even disrespectful and maybe ignorant because I personally believe it to be very much so.
Anyways, personally I think CHR/Pop (and other format forums) should be open to radio charts from countries other than the US but that's just my opinion. Global Charts should be for sales/album charts.

Actually, the chart was compiled using airplay data from January 1st to December 2nd. As in the past, BDS always seems to use the first 11 months, the exact date ending around December 1st. Unlike past years however, this chart includes recurrents (possibly golds if we had an expanded list.)
From reading the earlier posts and after receiving two nasty emails, I'll start posting all Canadian charts in the Global section.
BTW, has anybody been listening to the new 91.5 The Beat/Kitchener at all? Are they playing some CHR/Pop or is it just Rhythmic? I can't seem to access any station that broadcasts using chaincast. All Corus and I guess Global now use it exclusively. Hopefully The Beat will report to the CHR chart soon. It's time C100 Halifax be added to the panel as well. Power92.5 Edmonton needs to be removed.

From reading the earlier posts and after receiving two nasty emails, I'll start posting all Canadian charts in the Global section. This doesn't make The Max very happy. I'm curious about the nasty emails. I can probably guess who they're from assuming they are related to the Canadian charts being posted in CHR/Pop. So I guess the US is the only country in the world with a CHR/Pop format that's worth talking about in a forum dedicated to the format.
