US iTunes: #27 - "All I Want for Christmas Is You" Literally, HOW? :rip: One must not question the obvious...because it’s time! And it’s actually at #26 now.

Didn't it rise up this fast last year at this time but then it fell back down a little bit before it rose again after Thanksgiving? It seems to be a similar pattern.

It would be nice if it would finally get to #1 in the UK, but it seems like the charts company does everything it can to prevent it so...

I expect it to hit #2 in the UK again this year. Doesn't their formula weight older tracks differently? So it not only requires "All I Want For Christmas Is You" to have a huge week but the charts to otherwise be relatively weak (no major releases) so that it can make up the difference.

Yeah the last couple years it had gone up and then stabilizes in the mid 40’s-50’s until Thanksgiving, then does it again throughout December until Dec 22-25. Last year was the first time since 2005 that it reached #1 on iTunes. At this time last year, it was in the 40-50’s. Last year, it reached #27 on November 11th! This year it’s ahead on iTunes, Spotify....and Apple Music (currently at #128!!!). I don’t think it charted last year inside the Top 200 on Apple Music at this point in time last year. EDIT: I see that it was #235 on Apple Music on Nov 1st and #181 on Nov 3rd so somewhere in the middle of that it was charting same time last year. Either way it ahead this year! p.s i love the data inside this thread.

Christmas Day is on a Friday, too, so its biggest day is in a separate chart week. Having said that, the week of Christmas is of course huge for it in general so I still expect it to have a huge total the week it peaks.

I’m still hoping it does it this year in the UK. But not counting on it.

I’m still hoping it does it this year in the UK. But not counting on it. I would love for Mariah to get a third U.K. No.1 with "All I Want..." but the Accelerated Chart Ratio (ACR) rule isn't going to help. It states that singles over three years old must remain permanently on ACR status and for every play that a current hit enjoys, Mariah's would have to manage two just to keep pace. Then there's also the lingering desire in the U.K. to honor George Michael by getting "Last Christmas" by Wham! to No.1, I fully support that idea too. Last year it stopped at No.3 and if it didn't happen last year, it is unlikely to occur this year. But one can hope either one of these lovely tunes get the next Christmas No.1.

I know it doesn’t reaaaally matter in the grand scheme of things, but it annoys me that Keith’s typo is getting replicated elsewhere

AIWFCIY is currently the only Christmas song inside Apple Music’s Top 200 songs chart at #122.
