"Santa Baby" returned to the Holiday 100 (Dec. 10 chart), at No. 79*. It previously logged two weeks in 2011, when the chart was 50 positions. Last year, it returned to individual-track availability, as the tracks on A Very Special Christmas had been album-only for a few seasons or so. Do you know if it's available individually this year? |

^Yes- it probably would not re-enter otherwise. It's currently No. 883 on iTunes.
It drops off this week, but we'll see if it re-enters again.

^I guess she was going for a Betty-Boopish quality, not to mention a nod to the whole "Material Girl" thing.
My favorite part remains "a ring... I don't mean on the phone!" Love it, and the attitude.

I much prefer the original but Madge's version has grown on me over the years when it (and the way she sang it) used to annoy me. It's playful and different!

I have no idea what Betty Boop is supposed to sound like, but to me, she sounds like the cartoon Harley Quinn in this song. Love it!

I never put my thoughts on it. lol Other than Eartha Kitt's version, this is the only other rendition which I find tolerable. Eartha nailed it and Madonna was... close enough. I really hate that there are so many covers of this song and none of them even get the song at all. Lol, totally agreed. |

Posting this here from the Madonna thread. Thanks to Holidayguy.
M's version of "Santa Baby" drops off the Holiday 100, though it climbs 46-43* on Holiday Airplay. Given its relatively low number of Spotify streams, I imagine it's not on many holiday playlists. Unlike, say, Kylie Minogue's more-faithful-to-the-original cover.
And, yes, that song fit her well, coming just a few years after "Material Girl."

Seems appropriate for Madonna do a cover of this song but nothing beats the original Eartha Kitt version.
