Well, it can't be any worse than her remake of Pat Benatar's Joan Jett's "I Love Rock N Roll"... can't wait 'til we get a clip of it. That was HORRIBLE. You say it can't be any worse, but if it's even close to as bad, we are all worse off for it. I think it will be much, much better, not that that's saying anything.

Thank you. Anyone know where you can read the lyrics and maybe even hear the original? www.breatheheavy.com has the song if you'd like to hear it. You can find the lyrics by probably just doing a search for the song

Here's the lyrics from several lyrics sites (I always thought it was "permission" though, not "commission"... oh well):
MY PREROGATIVE Bobby Brown
Everybody's talking all this stuff about me Why don't they just let me live? I don't need commission, make my own decisions That's my prerogative
They say I'm crazy I really don't care That's my prerogative They say I'm nasty But I don't give a damn Getting girls is how I live Some messy questions Why am I so real? But they don't undersand me I really don't know the deal about her brother Trying hard to make it right Not long ago Before I win this fight, sing
(Chorus:) Everybody's talking all this stuff about me Why don't they just let me live? Tell me why I don't need commission Make my own decisions That's my prerogative It's my prerogative (it's my prerogative)
It's the way that I wanna live (it's my prerogative) I can do just what I feel (it's my prerogative) No one can tell me what to do (it's my prerogative) 'Cause what I'm doing I'm doing for you
Don't get me wrong I'm really not souped Ego trips is not my thing All these strange relationships really gets me down I see nothing wrong in spreading myself around
(Chorus)
I can do what I wanna do (it's my prerogative) I can live my life (it's my prerogative) And I'm doing it just for you (it's my prerogative)
Tell me, tell me why can't I live my life Live my life without all of the things That people say oh
Yo, teddy kick it like this Oh no no I can do what I wanna do Me and you together together together together together
(Repeat chorus ad lib and fade)

The lyrics are TOTALLY something Britney would sing.
I always thought it was spelled "Perrogative" lol

I didn't think that remake was as bad as some people try to make it out to be. The whole Pat Benatar confusion with her was really funny though heh. I really liked her remakes of Satisfaction and You've Got It All.

I quite liked (and so did many of the critcs - read EW's review) Britney's version of "Satisfaction". She put a new spin on a classic which is the point of a remake.
"My Perogative" also seems ideal for someone like Britney to put a new spin on an old song.
it is sure to be a better remake than "I'll Take Your Breath Away" or "Angels" but then it would be impossible to do a worse remake.

This is the reason why Britney Spears shouldn't cover anything. Even without hearing it, a topic 3 pages long will have denounced it to be as bad as her cover of I Love Rock & Roll.
Also, a GH DVD wil lbe released in September? Shouldn't they package it with the CD to make the CD sell more?

Britney needs to slow down and plan her next move. She's destroying her career right now with the coming disaster marriage and the end of promotion for In The Zone. A lead single as a remake will not go far. I think she's making a bad move. Hopefully Britney gets her shit together quick.

I think a lot of people feel that Britney needs to re-focus before she does anything else with her music.
There's always a bias concerning everything Britney. Her fans think she can do no wrong and non-fans think she can do no right. lol
Personally I think choosing the producers that she has was an extremely good move! Before I was predicting she'd butcher this song. She still might, but it will be a lot harder now, lol! However, doing a cover just seems lazy to me. But given the time table for this Greatest Hits release, I guess they figured it'd be easier that way. I wish they had waited a little to release this Greatest Hits. Possibly re-scheduling her tour and then ending it in like March 2005 with a Greatest Hits release makes more sense to me.
I guess we shall see!

i dont get why she rushed through the in the zone? less than a year from it she is releaseing a greatest hits?
she did not give the singles from this album time to live up to their potential. toixic was still doing well at radio when she rushed released everytime. and then everytime was doing pretty decent too and then she released outrageous and then all of a sudden everytime stopped getting played. do you realize she released 4 singles in like 8 months? most artisits atleast stretch that over a year and a half period. maybe the album could have sold more if she timed out everything better.

I think it's a HUGE mistake for Britney to make this song and video a statement about her life. People are turned off by her tiresome antics and her appearance in "Fahrenheit 9/11" doesn't help matters.

First off the public is obsessed with Britney's life. My entire family (except me) HATES Britney, but knows every single detail about her life. Her releasing a song about "My Prerogative" may actually help people realize that they need to get out her business and get some of their own business!
I find it disgusting that the media and public are obsessed with Britney. So many celebrities have gotten married and the media didn't do coverage on any of them other than a brief blip about J.Lo/Marc, but they do entire articles and presentations on Britney's engagement! This means the public doesn't care about nobody else but Britney!!!

So the video hasn't been shot yet but they know exactly what it's going to look like? ??? They said they had a copy of the video treatment. They did the same report on the Everytime video before it was filmed. That's what led them to change the suicide angle.

Someone over at another message board I went to mentioned that this COULD be the surpise...
BELOW IS A SPOILER. . . . . . . . . . . . Highlight below... She's crashing her own wedding. The part that tipped it off is that she finds a DRESS on her bed. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Thanks, Ben

That spoiler is sooooooo cool! I like how Britney makes the most entertaining and creative music videos!
All rap videos are the same just showing women and cars and a club. All R&B videos are the same, the singing star trying to act with some stupid storyline. All rock videos are the same with the band just playing in a field or at school! All pop vides are the same with shots of a dance routine and the pop star walking around town!
