I've listened to the song a few times, and I'm going to make my official comment/opinion about the track. It's a fair song. It's definitely not Toxic and will not have the same success, but it's not bad for a remake...esp. a song from an artist named Bobby Brown. To start, the chorus makes the song; a very infectious beat. On the down side, the verses are pretty boring and Britney's vocals don't impress me. How will this song do at Pop? It's too early to tell. It will depend on the hype/publicity surrounding the single when it's officially released to radio. I predict a similiar run to MATM, but the track's a remake and is not coming off a brand, new album. Only time will tell. Overall, I like the song but I'm not overly impressed with Ms. Spears. She could have done something more daring and interesting, but she played it safe.
Pop prediction: 12

I like the song but I'm not overly impressed with Ms. Spears. Lol. You talk about her like you're her grade school teacher or something. I wouldn't say she played it safe. The song is more daring than I thought it would be, especially the chorus and production. If she had released a song like Outrageous, I perhaps would have said that.

Terrible. She sounds like a chipmunk. How does she manage to ruin every song she covers?

After hearing the whole thing- I don't like it. It might grow on me but it is to computerized. Toxic was wayyyyyyyyyy better.

The only thing that might stop it from being a hit is the fact that Britney has pretty much been all over the radio the last year and radio might be sick of her. She kinda released this whole Greatest Hits album too early.

At least I like this better than her travesty called "I Love Rock n Roll".

Now that I've gotten a full clip of the song, I have to say that this is one of the worst songs she's released to date.
Having said that, it's going to chart instantly.
I can't see it hitting top 15 though.
I predict 17.

Still loving this! This is one of her best singles to date for me. Can't wait for the video!

She kinda released this whole Greatest Hits album too early. All over radio? Toxic was #1, sure, and Everytime did good too, but that's about it! Radio overload hasn't seem to hurt Usher, R.Kelly, Alicia, and Beyonce. I think Britney will do okay with "My Prerogative". It's going to be ATLEAST Top 10, hopefully one more #1 for her.

This is a songwreck. I hope it dies a quiet undignified embarrassing quick death--it deserves nothing less. #21 ughhhh.

Oh my gosh! Just like I imagined. Britney's version is so whack. LOL!!! The song sounds extremely cornballish with extra cheese, if you ask me!!! For this reason, I will probably love it in a couple of days, LOL. It does sound like old school Britney and that's a good thing!

The more I listen, the more I like!! It sounds awesome on radio!! But it will definitely do a fast rise, fast fall scenario. But how high will it rise before it's descent?!

Saw the video this morning. Britney cavorting around in various states of undress...same ol', same ol'. Nothing ground-breaking, I don't think, but it looks good. I only saw it once, but my first impression was that she has the same kind of defiant glare on her face throughout the video, but still seems kind of expressionless.
I'm not sure if folks are staying spoiled for the vid, so, if you're "saving yourself," please look away now!
The only thing I remember well is that Britney wears black for her wedding. Her makeup is well done, as is her hair (at one point, it's sort of upswept, and looks fantastic -- I'm not so crazy about the sheer, black-patterned thing she's wearing, but the hair looks great). I remember being surprised that there wasn't more joy at the wedding, but I guess it wouldn't really fit. The video ends with her dancing at her wedding, but it seems like a club. The whole look of the video was kind of somber. Then again, I saw the video up on a projection screen, and it looked really dim -- I'm sure the actual colors are brighter.
I'm sorry I'm not being that specific. I'm not much of a Britney fan, so the video doesn't make me feel very enthusiastic, but it's well done, so her fans will probably like it. As for the song itself, the beat is great, but I don't like that it stops and starts -- I'd rather it build its momentum.

Wait where did you see the video? At the Inside the Music Upfront in NYC today. BMG also premiered the "My Boo" video with Usher and Alicia Keys there. You won't have to wait long to see the video, right? I thought the Jive SVP who was presenting there said it would premiere on TRL today, as would "My Boo"?

Does she drive a car into a pool, like the MTV article stated? Yes, at the very beginning. She is driving the car during the part of the song during which she is talking, then she asks, "But the question is...can you handle mine?," and then the car jumps, and lands in the pool. Britney then spends at least part of the first verse all wet, leaning back propped up on her elbows on the hood of the car. I don't remember how the transition from the car into the mansion works, though, sorry. As I think about it, I think it's the typical Britney Spears video, with good production values. So, yeah, I think Britney fans will enjoy it.

My Prerogative Breaks Out On Radio; Hits 200 Spins In 8 Hours
Though the official add date is on Thursday, September 16, 2004, with the much hyped video pre-empting everything later this day on MTV, 'My Prerogative,' the Bobby Brown Billboard No.1 Hit remade by pop megastar Britney Spears for her 'Greatest Hits' LP, due the 9th of November, is on its way to becoming a hit.
'My Prerogative' is now on normal rotation in the big markets of Cleveland and Chicago. The single jumps from #254 to #80 in 8 hours on the Mainstream Hits Chart. The track is also enjoying early success in Hot AC, as it scores double digit spins in that format. Total audience impressions for 'Prerogative' is currently at 2.98 million.
*** 'Prerogative' is projected to hit the 500 spin mark within the next 24 hours.
