Britney Spears' "Outrageous" also peaked at #23 with no video. edit-nvm I misunderstood you and the Uninvited comparison is so incredibly random and influenced by so many outside factors that it almost seems ridiculous.

Alanis Morissette. 'Uninvited'. No video. From the soundtrack (and only there) to 'City Of Angels'. Bad Comparision, espechally since this song was overshadowed by "Iris".

Both are songs from a soundtrack without a video. The City of Angels movie itself wasn't even that big!

But Alanis was at a COMPLETELY different part of her career at that time

But Alanis was at a COMPLETELY different part of her career at that time Alanis was coming off of a HUGE album at that time, yeah, but 'Uninvited' still had 'Iris' to compete with and it overcame that. Plus, Christina is also coming off of a relatively hugely successful album and we all know she's capable of having #1 hits since she's had four or five in the last few years.

But when "Uninvited" was relased, it was durring the "Golden Soundtrack" Era. During that Era radio would treat soundtrack songs with even more love than album songs. "My Heart Will Go On" "Iris" "Uninvited" "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing", etc. The last soundtrack single that i can think of that did well was Nelly's "Shake Ya Tailfeather" which had nothing do with "Bad Boys II" anyway. Soundtrack singles these days aren't taken seriously. It's just flop after flop. I wish soundtrack singles start doing well again because i usually like them a lot.

Yeah-Alanis was coming off a huge album where people were crazy for new music. Plus its a serious original song from a hot new artist/icon. Christina's song is a kiddie remake from a kiddie movie that is not being promoted at all and is coming out relatively soon after her last song and the same time as another SERIOUS song that is actually original. The two situations are so different its almost laughable.

I just remembered Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway". "Car Wash" should've done at least as well as that, but then again "Breakaway" was properly promoted.

Plus Breakaway is undoubtedly a better song as well as an original, serious song. Its success has still surprised people (and pleased me!)

Good Lord, this song tanked. What the hell happened? I haven't even been paying attention since I don't make it point to follow songs that I can't stand, but I'm happy to see this dying a quick death.

Well, even with the comparisons to 'Uninvited', I think 'Car Wash' should have at least made Top 10.

Christina single flopped! I don't know how I will go on!!
But really, I thought this was gonna be huge, then they didn't promote it, and then they didn't shoot a video, and I was like oh no! You idiots! I don't think this song was anyone's top priority, and it showed in the performance of the record.
But I am comforted in the knowledge that Christina is still the most successful artist on the format in the last HALF DECADE! And, I can always just look down a my signature to see how superior Goddess Christina really is!

Lets start adding up sales of all albums and see who is really superior. In the past, Britney was the shit. In the past, Britney dominated the album charts like no other woman was. In the past, Britney's cd sales murdered Christina's. In the past, Britney was a more successful artist. But that just it, in the past!!! Based on their latest releases, Christina rules the roost! Long live Pop Goddess Lady Christina Maria Aguilera!!!!!!

I hate this song. Very disappointed because I've been hearing about this remake the past few months. Christina has an awesome voice, but the beat of the track just sucks. Sounds childish and stupid. I still predicted a top 10 because it's Christina, but 23 was well below my expectations.

Why is Britney being brought up? Get back on topic.
You people are so insecure about your favorite artists. Grow up.

I hate this song. Very disappointed because I've been hearing about this remake the past few months. . you have?? lol.I am a huge Christina fan and I was surprised at how fast it seemed sprung on us. I remember hearing about it and then it leaking pretty soon after. Tilt seemed to come out quickly too. Maybe thats just me. I feel like I learned one day they did a collabo and the next it leaked. Maybe my sense of timing is off haha. But then again...my idea of being a huge Christina fan is loving her voice and owning her cds not obsessing over articles...knowing everything about her...or wildly kissing her ass and shoving her success down people's throats in a desperate attempt at...well something

It's not about insecurity. Sure it is. A Christina song flopped, and you went all off topic talking about how she outperformed other artists. It's nonsense, that has nothing to do with this song.

I'm actually glad it underperformed. Now people will be starving for Christina. And when RCA puts out the first single from her next album, it will undoubtedly go straight to #1!
