From Billboard:
Oct. 2, 1987
Happy birthday, Sting and Tiffany! Why group them together, other than that they share Oct. 2 as a birthday? Oddly enough, they've both scored Billboard Hot 100 hits with songs called "All This Time." Her ballad reached No. 6 in 1989, while his autobiographical single hit No. 5 in 1991.

Women, thus, monopolize the top five exclusively for a fourth straight week, matching the chart's longest such streak. The first such run of female dominance occurred more than 15 years ago (Feb. 13-March 6, 1999), when hits by Monica ("Angel of Mine"), Britney Spears ("…Baby One More Time"), Deborah Cox ("Nobody's Supposed to Be Here"), Cher ("Believe"), Brandy ("Have You Ever?"), Whitney Houston ("Heartbreak Hotel," featuring Faith Evans and Kelly Price) and Sarah McLachlan ("Angel") combined to keep men out of reach of the top five.
**************************
I so want Tove Lo to move to number 6 or higher next week and the one it dislodges to fall to 6 so that a new record is in effect.

What happens here is that, same as for 1990, the 80s, etc., Billboard froze the numbers for the last week of the year. From the Record Research books: "Billboard's year-end double issue combines the weeks of 12/21/91 and 12/28/91 to accomodate their holiday printing schedule. The next regular issue will be dated 1/4/92." :)

Right... Billboard froze the last issue from 1976-1991.

What's the top 10 longest reign of a song in the Airplay (Overall) Chart? I only know about Iris 18 weeks and Don't Speak 16 weeks reign, and a probably 14 weeks+ for We Belong Together.... Any link or anything? (I can't help but wonder how people back then feel when a song is "overplayed" for a straight four and a half month..... Iris and Don't Speak is amazing songs, but really? 18 and 16 weeks?)

I got bored, and I think this thread had been rather empty lately, so I make this.
Songs with the longest stay in top 10 without reaching top 5:
1. Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes 15 weeks (2005)
2. Lorde - Team 14 weeks (2014)
3. Phillip Phillips - Home 13 weeks (2012-2013)
3. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours 13 weeks (2008)
4. Imagine Dragons - Demons 12 weeks (2014)
4. Chumbawamba- Tubthumping 12 weeks (1997)
4. Brandy - I Wanna Be Down 12 weeks (1994)
5. Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me 11 weeks (2010)
5. Backstreet Boys- I Want It That Way 11 weeks (1999)
5. Hootie And The Blowfish - Only Wanna Be With You 11 weeks (1995)
5. Richard Marx - Now And Forever 11 weeks (1994)
5. New Edition - I'm Still In Love With You 11 weeks (1996)
Songs with the longest stay in Hot 100 and reach #1: 1. LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett, GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem 68 weeks (2010-2011) 2. Adele - Rolling In The Deep 65 weeks (2010-2011) 3. Los Del Rio - Macarena 60 weeks (1996-1997) 4. All of Me - John Legend 59 weeks (2013-2014) 5. Smooth - Santana feat. Rob Thomas 58 weeks (1999-2000)
Songs with the shortest stay in Hot 100 and reach #1 (since Soundscan inception): 1. Taylor Hicks - Do I Make You Proud 8 weeks (2006) 2. Fantasia - I Believe 10 weeks (2004) 3. Carrie Underwood - Inside Your Heaven 12 weeks (2005) 4. Clay Aiken - This Is The Night 16 weeks (2003) 5. Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me 17 weeks (2011)
There, I added some note and include some other song for the first one. I also added the years.

Another trivia: 2000, and 2001 is the only consecutive years where the Year-End #1 of either Hot 100 or Billboard 200 didn't reach #1 in the weekly charts.
2000 Hot 100 Year-End #1: Faith Hill - Breathe. Peak: #2. Weeks On: 53 weeks. Weeks In Top 10: 17 weeks
2001 Hot 100 Year-End #1: Hanging By A Moment - Lifehouse. Peak: #2. Weeks On: 54 weeks. Weeks In Top 10: 20 weeks.
2001 Billboard 200 Year-End: Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park. Peak: #2. Total Sales in 2001: 4,6 Million.
2001 is the only year where both in Hot 100 and Billboard 200's Year-End chart, the #1 didn't hit #1 in weekly charts.
I guess those are still the time where scoring 50 weeks in the Hot 100 is a quite amazing feat. Now? In 2014 alone, we have at least 5 songs crossing the 52 weeks mark and two songs broke I'm Yours longevity record.
The longest climb to top 20 is achieved by Sail. Sail reached top 20 for the first time in it's run in it's 55th week.
The longest climb to top 25 is also achieved by Sail, it took Sail 51 weeks to reach top 25.
But the longest climb top 30 isn't by Sail, Little Talks take that honor. Little Talks needed 33 weeks to reach top 30.
Alternative song just love to climb huh?

Does anyone have the list of the top sales weeks of all-time? Not just first weeks? I would love to see a list of anytime an album moved over 500,000 units in a week

How about songs with the highest Hot 100 debut with airplay point alone? ( no point from sales yet)
The record is Janet's All For You. It debuted at #9 Hot 100 Airplay and #14 Hot 100, right? Other songs to achieve these records?

For example, none of the 27 #1 hits from 1966 spent more than 15 weeks on the Hot 100. The Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" spent 5 weeks at number one in 1964 and only managed 10 weeks total on the Hot 100!

That's not surprising, it was rare back then for any song to spend as much as 20 weeks on the Hot 100, much less the top 40!

I only listed those after Soundscan inception since if I added the older ones, it will be pretty much pointless to list anything more than Inside Your Heaven. The charts is very very dynamic back then compared to the chart after the inception. If I missed anything from the inception, please add more, and for the top 10 longest stay without top reaching top 5 I only put those since 2000 since I just do it to kill some time, but not to discover the chart into the first day of it's creation, so forgive me for all the missing things.

I think you were confusing people by not saying that in the first place. If your lists are only since 2000, then it would be best to say so rather than say the Hot 100's longest this or that because people might think you mean since 1958

A little trivia time.
There's only two weeks where in the top 5, there's 2 version of a same song.
This happen in 09/07/05-16/07/05
This is the top 5 of that time:
09/07/05 1. We Belong Together - Mariah Carey 2. Inside Your Heaven - Bo Bice (Hot Shot Debut) 3. Inside Your Heaven - Carrie Underwood 4. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani 5. Don't Phunk With My Heart - Black Eyed Peas
16/07/05 1. We Belong Together - Mariah Carey 2. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani 3. Don't Phunk With My Heart - Black Eyed Peas 4. Inside Your Heaven - Carrie Underwood 5. Inside Your Heaven - Bo Bice
The only time that the top 2 song in the Hot 100 is a debut is in 28/06/2003
1. This Is The Night - Clay Aiken (Hot-Shot Debut) 2. Flying Without Wings - Ruben Studdard (Debut) 3. 21 Questions - 50 Cent 4. Get Busy - Sean Paul 5. Magic Stick - Lil Kim feat 50 Cent
There's only two song not from the Digital Era to ever reach top 10 in Digital Era whether as a cover or not.
The two songs were:
Don't Stop Believin - Journey (Glee cover) Peak in Digital Era: #4
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston Peak in Digital Era: #3
Michael Jackson would have put some of his songs in the top 10 after his death, but due to Billboard still not allowing songs to re-enter at that time, he couldn't.
We Are The World didn't count because it's a new recording.
Feel free to give any input.

If Don't Stop Believin from Glee is a cover then so is We Are The World. The artists singing the 2009 version are not the same as the 1985 version

How about lowest Hot 100 peak for a Digital Songs #1, and vice-versa (lowest Digital Songs peak for a Hot 100 #1...I know a number of #1's this decade peaked at #2 on the Digital Songs chart like GME and OMN)?

Hey Mark, There are five songs in total that made it to #1 on Digital Songs yet failed to reach the top 10 of the Hot 100. Keep in mind there are also two songs that did not chart due to meeting a recurrent status. The two songs I'm referring to are Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Jeff Buckley's rendition of "Hallelujah". 1) Out Of The Woods - Taylor Swift (#18) 2) These Boots Were Made For Walkin' - Jessica Simpson (#14) 3) Burnin' It Down - Jason Aldean (#12) 4) Just The Girl - The Click Five (#11) 5) Forget You - Glee Cast featuring Gwyneth Paltrow (#11) Only one song has topped the Hot 100 and failed to make the top 10 on Digital Songs: 1) Do I Make You Proud - Taylor Hicks (#18) With virtually zero airplay and a lofty digital sum (44,000), Hicks managed to debut at #1 with physical sales of 184,000. That may not seem impressive in today's terms, but in 2006 those numbers easily trump the download volume. The runner up in this race was "Let Me Love You" by Mario; the song peaked at #7 on Digital Songs and was the first Hot 100 #1 in the download era. With that said, most of the #1 digital sellers end up in the #1-3 range overall.

thanks for the info! Interesting how there were none in 2006 and 2003 and between 1995-1997...and a huge gap between 1983-1994 :O there has been at least one in each of the last eight years

So.... I just found out that the longest stay that a song has ever made in Adult Contemporary chart is by the very same act:
1. I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden 124 weeks 2. Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden 123 weeks (Note: 202 weeks on AC Recurrent)

Kinda random but here is what I can think of for the most weeks at #1 in Canada without reaching #1 in USA:
"Apologize" (13 weeks) :'( "4 Minutes" (9 weeks) "Payphone" (8 weeks) :'( "The Time (Dirty Bit)" (7 weeks) "Gangnam Style" (7 weeks) :'( "Stay With Me" (7 weeks) "Wavin' Flag" (6 weeks) [not the K'Naan version, though I would much rather have K'Naan to have been #1 especially with Bieber being in the Young Artist for Haiti version] "Bad Romance" (5 weeks)
Honorable mention: "On the Floor" with 13 weeks in the top 2 in Canada including 4 at #1; never was in the top 2 in USA.
Vice-versa:
"One More Night" (9 weeks) :'( "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" (7 weeks) "Whatever You Like" (7 weeks; never even made top ten in Canada! :() "Live Your Life" (6 weeks) "Rude" (6 weeks; never even made top five in Canada! :() "No One" (5 weeks) "Lollipop" (5 weeks) "Empire State of Mind" (5 weeks) :'( "Rude Boy" (5 weeks) "Someone Like You" (5 weeks) :'( "Harlem Shake" (5 weeks) though a lot of people know this is the one I don't count as legitimate lol but it was officially #1 for 5 weeks so I must include it "Can't Hold Us" (5 weeks) :'(
