Has anyone heard this song yet? I've heard the country version w/ Billy Currington, but haven't been able to find the pop version w/ Mr Sugar Ray himself. Any predictions on position? I'm thinking possibly top 20.
I changed the topic title to make this less confusing.

Shania won't do anything at Pop, and working with Mark McGrath to capture the Pop audience is a joke since he's even less popular than she is at this audience now. I wish they would play Shania but it's not going to happen.

I wish POP would give her a chance. I loved her UP! album. She really doesn't need a POP though because UP! sold 10 million copies without one POP hit.
Hopefully Country Music will like this one, and send it to #1.

Heard it 3 times. First time I thought it was cheesy but decided to give it a second chance. 2nd and 3rd times confirmed it's a cheesy song

Shania Twain should leave songs like this alone. They never work for her.

Wow, this is totally chemistry-free, as far as Shania Twain and Mark McGrath go. There is so much studio work on their voices that it doesn't even sound like they're playing off each other and having fun. Some of Shania's other hits have been as cheesy, but at least she has sounded kind of self-aware about it. This one just sounds like a tired attempt to use an old formula. It's totally dated. It's hard for me to imagine this going far on Pop.

The pop version lacks chemistry, but the country version is great!

The pop version lacks chemistry, but the country version is great! That is probably due to the report that Billy Currington actually went to Europe to personally record the country version with Shania in the studio. It is believed that Mark did not do that. I guess Mark's vocals were just added in. I have heard the country version with Shania and Billy. I think it is a great song. I have heard a lot of people say great things about it as well. I have not heard the Mark McGrath version. I was looking forward to hearing it but now I am not so sure. The positive reaction does not seem nearly as strong to the Shania/Mark [POP] version as there was to the Shania/Billy [Country] version. I hope that the country version can at least become a hit since it appears the Mark version will not have much of a chance.

I hope that the country version can at least become a hit since it appears the Mark version will not have much of a chance. Even if it's not a big hit on country, she'll still sell lots of albums. However, Britney is going to sell more because "My Prerogative" is really good. I heard Eminem's album also comes out that day. If so, I predict: 1) Eminem (1-1.4m) 2) Britney (700-1m) 3) Shania (500-750 K)

You really think Britney's unpromoted greatest hits will sell well over 100K to 400K more than "In The Zone"?

Remember that the CMA awards air LIVE on CBS on Tuesday, November 9 - which is the very night that Shania's "Greatest Hits" cd is released. :) Shania is not only Performing "Party For Two" on the the CMA awards; Shania is also acting as a "Guest co-HOST" for the show. The CMA awards are called "country music's biggest night" for a reason. They tend to score very high ratings. That has to help out her "Greatest Hits" album at least a little bit.

I think 500-800K is a reasonable number for her. I just think Britneys are a little high. I mean...do people really think MP is going to score her a million or above debut of her greatest hits, which she herself even said would not be promoted AT ALL except for the video Maybe Im wrong ;p

Britney and Shania are coming out on Nov. 9, a week before Eminem on Nov. 16
Shania will most likely outsell Britney, I'd think
but Shania's single sucks and probably not going anywhere while Britney's is already projected as being at least a Top 40 hit.
So maybe they will end up selling close numbers to each other, around 400k first week.

Here may be your chance to learn more about "Party For Two" - both versions. Shania will be featured on a new edition of CMT's "Insider." The "Insider" special will air on Saturday, September 25th. Some information about it from CMT.com: Host Katie Cook is back from her visit with supertstar Shania Twain in beautiful Switzerland, and she'll give a sneak peek at what the star's been up to and get the scoop on her new duet "Party for Two" with country singer Billy Currington and Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath.www.cmt.com/shows/dyn//cmt_insider/86131/episode_about.jhtml

Do you really think Shania's "Greatest Hits" will sell 'only' 500,000 on her debut week? ??? quote] 500,000 was the low estimate. I really don't think it will sell more than 750,000 in its first week out though. Usually greatest hits albums sell well for years. If it were a Shania album of all new material coming out mid-november, I think it could sell 800,000 or more. However, I think lots of people already have Come On Over and won't be rushing out the first week to buy it. Britney would be the same, except she has a better first single than Shania (in my opinion - I am a huge Shania fan, so I'm not putting her down, just stating my opinion). Both albums should sell 2-3 million before Chritmas season is done. I like the song, but I don't think it compares to unreleased material from Up! like "Nah", "I'm Jealous", or "I Ain't Going Down". I think it is more along the lines of the single "Up," which I thought was a poor mistake for a single choice. The only 2 singles that I thought were great from Up were "IGGYG" and "Forever and For Always." I also liked "Thank You Baby," which of course wasn't released in the U.S. I just hope that her next album is more like "The Woman In Me".

I think this'll be a minor hit at least (as in, top 60). She probably won't come anywhere near her success with Come On Over on pop again.

I love this song. For those that say it was cheesey, have you seen pop hits these days? They are all cheesey. Lets get on thing straight here, Shania is not considered country and she isn't considered pop. She doesn't appeal to anything specific but yet she still seems to sell well and be one of the biggest artists in the world still.
Lets get another thing straight, for an artist like Shania, singles really aren't a big deal, she is an album artist and her fans buy her albums and listen to the songs there. Shania is a brand name and as established herself as one of the most popular artist in history. No artist in history can keep up the pace of the record breaking COO, but Shania will be big for as long as she wants.
Having said this, I think this song would do very well on the pop charts and go top 20 if the video is played on MTV. Everyone knows who Shania is but we just don't know what genre she is.

JAZ, what evidence to you see of Britney selling anything more than Shania. The facts are that Shania has a bigger fan base and don't try and convince anyone that Spears remake of a horrible song will be a hit. It has already stalled in audience impression.
Shania could release no singles and still end up selling more than Spears. By the way, I love Shania's new single. It is fun, upbeat and the video will be great.

I just saw part of the video on E talk daily, it looks great. Shania and billy are smashing dishes and singing from the ceiling.
