I noticed the missing Pop Chart topic at the top of the forum so I figured the old one had talked itself out so I'll start the new one. Never started one before!
Maroon 5 is just days away from #1 now. Probably won't make it by this Wednesday's update but it's definately Ashlee's last week on top. Avril is steadily rising so Ashlee COULD fall to #3 for the next chart but for 9/24, it could be the same Top 3.
Usher is #25 (from 37) on the current update at Mediabase with 'My Boo'. Listened to it today and even 'Burn' is better.
Who's Nitty?
Ashlee's followup is already rising fast as it's Top 30.
Destiny's Child is bulleted with over +1200.
Avril is at #3 with fourth greatest gainer status.
Christina has collectively gathered over +1000 spins this week.
Going for adds this week: Britney Spears - My Perogative Christina Milian/Joe Budden - Whatever You Want Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama

Nitty's song "Nasty Girl" is a cover/samples the 70's hit "Candy Girl" by (???). I like it.
There are so many potential top ten hits in the 20's and 30's right now. We have Christina Aguilera, Alicia/Usher, Ashlee Simpson, Nelly/Christina, and Destiny's Child. And we also have music from Britney and Eminem coming in the next couple of weeks. I'm betting at least one of these songs will get lost in the shuffel and not make it into the top ten.

If Avril and Maroon 5 hit #1, this year's #1's will be great! Well, most of them.

What are the #1s for this year? I know thats probably listed somewhere I know Yeah, The Reason, This Love, Pieces of Me and Leave and I loved two of those, detested two and thought the other was just catchy generic teen music (not bad or good) If Maroon and Avril go #1 that will bring my tally up to love 4, hate two, and 1 eh.

Ok-then th #1s this year really have not been bad. Hoobastank and Ashlee are the only ones that annoy the hell out of me.

Goodies is top 10 now. >:( Ugh, looks like I have to listen to that piece of garbage for the next 15 weeks now on KISS.
Wow, Avril and Maroon 5 are really battling out for the #1 spot! Maroon 5 has the clear advantage this week and probably next week, but could Avril slip in a week later?
Too bad Destiny's Child debuted on last week's pop chart. It could have challenged for the second highest top 50 debut on the pop chart which belongs to either Sometimes or Give Me Just One Night.

I think 'My Prerogative,' could make top 50 by Sunday, if not then top 60.

I think "My Prerogative" will be in the TOP 40 by sunday.
I am kind of worried about Destiny's Childs song. Is it really that good to climb up the charts that fast? In the end that usually causes pre-mature peaks and fast falls (like Me Against The Music, A Moment Like This, Die Another Day).

I really want Avril to hit #1. Everyone thought that after the mediocre success of "Don't Tell Me" her album would drop off and her 15 minutes were already up. She's surprised me, the album is still doing well and MHE is doing even better.
Looks like Maroon 5 have another #1; I like the song, I just hope that it doesn't get massively overplayed like "This Love" did.
I HATE that "Goodies" song! It's so irritating.
Why does Ryan Cabrera's "song" got such a big bullet? ???

Im kind of starting to get irritated by the Goodies beat as well...I loved that song and still kinda like it but I think its losing steam with me.
Ryan Cabrera's song isn't too bad but it's kind of scaring me how it's still such a big bullet and basically Top 5.
I Like That is really old, too...Im happy it made Top 10 and it can get another week but after that it needs to GO

In the end that usually causes pre-mature peaks and fast falls (like Me Against The Music, A Moment Like This, Die Another Day). Pre-mature peaks? What does that mean? It's not like songs have a normal incubation period... Besides, AMLT peaked at #4. That was pretty good if I do say so myself. But I think I get your point - songs that fly up the chart sometimes don't last long or perform too well. But, there are always exceptions to that (Don't Speak, MHWGO (yes, it fell fast, but it still spent 9 weeks @ #1), LM (same as MHWGO), and others).

Those songs are from 1997! Things can change on the radio. I can so see "Lose My Breath" suddenly dying out once it hits the top ten and falling fast.
Can anyone tell me what position "Me Against The Music" was at when it was 8 days old on the chart and how much spins it had. I think it will be fun to compare it to "Lose Your Breath".

Can't tell you where MATM was 8 days in. I can tell you it debuted on the 10/10/03 chart at #58 with 513 spins. On the 10/17/03 chart it was at #26 with 2542 spins (+2022). "Lose My Breath" debuted at #41 on 9/17 with 994 spins (a significant lead). By 9/24, it should be in the top 25 with, at least, a 1500 spin gain.

A Moment Like This peaked at #4 on the CHR/Pop Airplay chart, as in spins?? Dang, that's news to me...
Wowww at DC's bullet...lol...dang
and Ashlee Simpson and Kelly Clarkson...both of them with very big bullets
I hope Linkin Park gets Top 10 with Breaking...
and it looks like Houston will hang on for 1 week in the Top 10, with nothing really approaching and still a decent bullet at #10. The song is hella old but it was a good summer track so it deserves it.
I'd like to see Sunshine hit Top 5 but I think it might peak at #6 because its bullet is dying out.
Ugh at Ryan Cabrera...looks like he's gonna get a Top 3 hit at least...wtf?? lol

I am shocked at Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway"! They might as well scrap the first single off of her upcoming album this fall and just use this as the lead single instead.

I'm happy to see Gavin DeGraw at #52 with a +165 bullet. Hopefully he will beat his original #49 peak.
