While Fergie may have had more hits on her album, Beyonce had one of the biggest hits of the decade with Irreplaceable. Furthermore, Beautiful Liar was really big internationally.

I would agree that Fergie is the new "it" girl of the moment, but pop can be a very fickle format. Beyonce has survived the test of time, despite a mediocre album. I am a Fergie fan, but Gwen and Kelly both faced difficult times with their follow-up albums. Especially with Fergie's gap, it will be tough to repeat her success. Beyonce, despite having a not so strong album, still managed to do extremely well. They both also cater to different markets, so can't really be compared. Beyonce's last album was not a pop album, it was a pure hip-hop album (with the exception of Beautiful Liar which she added in her re-release). Fergie is Pop.

I really don't like Fergie at all, and I really like Beyonce, but I have to admit this is true. Beyonce had a monster hit, but as big as it was, I don't think it was as big as BGDC seems to have been. When that song came out, I was like "I love this, why does it have to be Fergie!!"

Having said that, I think Fergie is much too nasty to ever really be the "it" girl. She isn't the "it" girl now either. Remember Beyonce wasn't just about singles and albums, there was a little thing called movie roles, endorsements etc as well. Not that Fergie doesn't have *some* of that, but she'll never be where Beyonce was at least at at one time.

Actually Fergie is not at all nasty IMO. The online bloggers have bashed her so much, but if you ever see her in person, or see her actually talk, she is a very nice, intelligent, sweet person, and she can act, dance and sing. She is just doing her solo project, she will do more things.

And sorry but Beyonce taleneted, fine and nice, but Fergie has her beat in being articulate and intelligent. Beyonce would never have made it on brain power. Pretty but not bright.

Although it is sad in a way, the one thing that prevents Fergie from being the "it" girl is that she isn't beautiful. Oh, some people may think she's hot or sexy, but she is not the stuff of glamour. What makes me refer to Fergie as being nasty, are things like the pee-stain, and some of her comments in interviews that sound somewhat like trash. Maybe she is cooler than my impressions have been, and maybe she's a lot nicer than my impressions have been. If so, she needs a better PR person.

Fergie is doing fine, but you know she is not trying to be goody goody and her photo shoots and her Fashion Rocks appearance sure had her as a glamour girl. She has endorsements from huge corporations for fashion and will be the Mac spokesperson too. She is not just know for her music, Kipping and Candies have hired her to be their person too.

And in person she is very pretty, as she is in many pics.
And beyonce also sang about her butt and the term "bootylicious" isn't exactly above being nasty! lol

And I did not see Beyonce invited to Diana's concert - Fergie was.

Not saying Beyonce isn't an It girl, but Fergie is too and corperate america and now even the Police with Sting have asked her to be their opening act in Feb, and so did Justin.

She is very nice and very pretty.

No one is getting carried away, she had small roles because she was touring and going back and forth, and she literally would fly f from her touring to film and go back.

And why is this comparision going on anyway. As I said, if you are going to do that, then Beyonce has a lot of silly sexual songs too, and sings about her own butt, and also has many dj's mocking her lack of brain power in interviews.

Fergie is doing a lot and in demand by corporations. There is no need to feel threatened that she and Beyonce can not both be successful.

Seriously! Beyonce's album was done after Irreplaceable. Fergie is still releasing singles from her original album. Fergie didn't need a re release to help her album. I guess it wasn't struggling for success the way BDay did. Beyonce's just going to have to release a record worth listening to for a change.

I do not hate Beyonce, she is pretty and talented, but for her fans to discount Fergie's success is a bit much. The Dutchess was in the top ten after a year and Fergie keeps getting more and more endorsements and opportunities.

BTW the Police were not selling out the concerts in Austrailia and NZ and the news there is saying that they added Fergie to help ticket sales, since she is very big there.

So she is a success, like it or not, and she is a smart, sweet girl too.
