Aw, that's poop. They've had some really great songs but to me, Audioslave did seem like a temporary band anyway. Too bad the new album only had two singles.

WOW !!! What a shame, but now it's official. Thanks for the find, audiogarden !
2007 is becoming a crazy year of $pending even more money on music- gonna have to put this Chris Cornell record on the growing list of highly anticipated 2007 records (Wilco, Kelly Clarkson, Metallica, ? GNR, just to name a few). I'm looking forward to CC'd record because he definitely is my most favourite male voice out these days- technically and emotionally.

I really liked their first album. Unfortunately, they dropped off a little for me with each subsequent album. So perhaps it was just time to move on. Does the split make a full-fledged RATM reunion more likely?

Does the split make a full-fledged RATM reunion more likely? Great question about Rage. Linkin Park says they will have a new sound, because the punk/rap style has faded. Whether Rage could revive it, or whether Zach de La Rocha can carry a tune, I don't know. Tom Morello has said in recent interviews that The Nightwatchman (his new band) is his main project for now.

I wish everyone in Audioslave good luck in their future endeavors. I doubt that many people are surprised by this announcement. Chris is doing a solo album and isn't Rage re-forming to play at Cochella????

Maybe something more will come outta that. Looking forward to Chris's album.

This band was one big mistake to start with, as are most supergroups anyway. Good riddance to them. It wasn't good while it lasted.

It does not really surprise me. It seems like Audioslave ran out of ideas a long time ago. It is time for them to move on to other endeavors.

I love Audioslave, and I will miss it. But, in truth, Chris Cornell can hire studio musicians and make great music. I loved Soundgarden, but I have to skip some of their songs. On three Audioslave CDs, I never skip any songs.
Tom Morello and crew are very talented musicians, and they will be successful whatever they do.
But a vocalist with Chris Cornell's range and emoting abilities doesn't come along very often. And, he writes fantastic lyrics.

I want that CD now. I suspect I am not alone. So, I think there are lots of 'nobody'(ies) that are sweating it.

Anybody have an idea how well his 1st solo CD sold? It debuted pretty high on the charts but there's no certification for it.
And has he changed the album title to self-titled?

Is this actually going to be released on June 5? Yes, unless something changes. It was originally scheduled for May 8, but got pushed back a month.

Damage, I am sorry, but you lost me when you said that Trent Reznor's voice is in better shape than Chris Cornell's.
Trent wouldn't even attempt those high notes that Chris hits so easily.
It is not strain that you hear, it is his rocker wail. He has sounded like that for 20 years. Chris' voice is like Jack Black label. It has a sweet, smoky undertone.
I saw the video for Arms Around Your Love, and I really think Chris could have a pop radio hit, if his label works the stations.
Chris Cornell and pop? Oh well. Why not?
