she really has blossomed into a beautiful young woman. She also seems hip to the latest fashions...on idol I always thought she dressed kind of podunk like.... now she dresses like all the young hollywood starlets do....very well put together.

ok...I wasn't going to do it because of the way I was so viciously attacked but I do feel I owe an apology for the grammy incident. I got heated about a comment I saw Carrie made and instead of taking a step back and realizing that sometimes things are taken out of context I went off half-cocked and commented. It's a flaw I have IRL too....I speak before I think...
I'm not apologizing cuz I really care what any of those who attacked me think...call me a hater or poser or whatever makes no difference to me....I'm apologizing cuz Carrie deserved her wins and I should've just let the comment roll off....and I feel I dampened the excitement for some really nice fans and for that I'm sorry. It doesn't change my overall perception of Carrie but it was proven last year with what happened to a certain girl in my avi that sometimes things get blown out of proportion and I had a hand in that so for that I'm sorry.
there I said my peace....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Carrie gets a mention in Junichi Semitsu's Grammy behind-the-scenes-with-the-Dixie Chicks article! For those of you who don't already know, Junichi Semitsu has been the DCX's "embedded blogger" for the past 11 months or so, reporting from inside their promotional and concert tours, etc. He's a really entertaining writer. The whole recap is well-written and really worth reading (whether you're a DCX fan or just interested in the backstage chaos of an awards show)...here's the Carrie mention:Martie is, of course, Martie McGuire, the amazing fiddler. I love it when my fandoms collide!!

LMAO....
I didn't have to apologize and I didn't do it for you or anyone else....I did it cuz I felt badly that I may have taken some of the excitement away for Carrie fans and I felt that wasn't right....it's called making a mistake and then taking responsibility for it.... mature adults do that...

Carrie Underwood: Grammy's Golden GirlCarrie Underwood walked into Sunday’s 49 th annual Grammy Awards with two nominations…and when the show was over, both nominations had turned into trophies. Carrie earned the Best Female Vocal Country Performance award for her number-one hit from a year ago, “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” But even more impressive—and seen on national television—was her win as Best New Artist. The victory in that all-genre category puts her in some very elite company—after all, it’s been 10 years since a country artist—LeAnn Rimes—has won the award…and you could count on one hand the number of country artists who’ve been nominated. Carrie’s name is now added to a list of previous Best New Artist winners that also includes Sheryl Crow, Mariah Carey, Natalie Cole, Bette Midler, Carly Simon, The Carpenters, Crosby, Stills and Nash…and even The Beatles. Carrie performed on the Grammy telecast as well, serving up the classic “San Antonio Rose” in honor of posthumous Lifetime Achievement honoree Bob Wills (The King of Western Swing)…as well as The Eagles’ “Desperado” and (with Rascal Flatts) “Life in the Fast Lane” as part of a tribute to Don Henley, who was being saluted as The Recording Academy’s MusiCares Person of the Year for his efforts on behalf of such causes as environmental conservation and artists’ rights. Carrie’s two trophies weren’t the only awards earned by her music—the writers of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” also received Grammys when the tune was named Country Song of the Year (an award that goes to the songwriter ).
1. Backstage at Sunday’s 49 th annual Grammy Awards, Carrie Underwood expressed pride in being recognized as part of the country music community.
“I’ve always hoped that I’d be a good representative for country music. That’s what I grew up listening to. And I feel so honored to be around all the people that I’m around in that genre of music.”
2. Prior to performing on the 49th annual Grammy Awards, Carrie Underwood talked about the songs she’d sing in a salute to Lifetime Achievement honoree Bob Wills and MusiCares Person of the Year Don Henley. “I’m part of two tributes to two people who have definitely made a huge impact in music—Bob Wills and Don Henley. You know, it’s kind of a…a way to showcase two very different artists together. Different people do different groundbreaking things, and they shape the way that everything goes from that point on. And then it evolves and it turns into what we have now. It’s just a really awesome way to get up there and honor two wonderful people—people [whose accomplishments] let us do what we do.”
3. Prior to Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Carrie Underwood said she didn’t expect to walk home with a trophy (she won two). “I’ve had such an incredible year, full of so many things that I never thought could happen, but I’m very excited about it. It’s just awesome to be considered. I don’t think I’ll win, but…nobody has to win their first time out.”

So that is just coolness! :) ETA: Finished reading the blog. That was a really good read.

RL has prevented me getting here before. I just want to do some of this...EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because of Carrie's THREE Grammy wins!!!!!!(Actually one goes to the songwriters)
She looked fabulous....she had quite a lot of clothes changes, she was voted the best looking female on the red carpet (I think it was E! Entertainment), she sounded fantastic on her songs (she got a LOT of singing time!),and she was so gracious in her acceptance speeches.
She is a class act through and through.
I especially liked how Carrie was true to the classic style of My Rose of San Anton (spelling?) both in her attire and vocals.
After your complete meltdown in the other thread and the viciousness of your remarks, I am glad you took the high road this time and apologized, Shannon. For future reference, I think all of us can take note that if we refrain from being obnoxious, apologies won't be needed.

If you wouldn't mind, sometime when you have time in between all the other Carrie goodness going on right now, if you could upload a lower quality version of it so I could like her, I'd be very appreciative (and so would she). You can just PM the link to me if you'd like.

Penny, you are so right! There is a lot of Carrie goodness going on...and it is not just here. The industry has really embraced her.
Glad to see her single is #38 on the Top 40 chart.

Here ya go. I've made the file small enough but the quality is excellent. "Before He Cheats" 2006 CMAs WMV - 15 megs (320x240) savefile.com/files/490446Let me know if this will do. If you wouldn't mind, sometime when you have time in between all the other Carrie goodness going on right now, if you could upload a lower quality version of it so I could like her, I'd be very appreciative (and so would she). Please do NOT mistake my apology for a retraction of my opinion. That's NOT what I'm doing. My opinion remains the same..I just used poor judgment in stating it on Grammy night. I should've allowed the nice fans to enjoy their excitement over Carrie much deserved wins and then, if I felt the need, expressed my opinions later. However, if those fans who attacked me hadn't done so, it wouldn't have continued, I'd have said my opinion and moved on...however that didn't happen and it turned ugly....that's as much the fault of those who felt the need to personally attack me as it is mine for not just stepping back and waiting til a more appropriate time to say what I wanted to say.

What Shannon means is that she should have given us a "Grammy Holiday" from Carrie bashing and that she reserves the right to continue the bashing at a more appropriate later time. At least I think that's what she's saying!

Guys, please don't try to police other people's opinions in the thread. Let people have their opinions and let it go. If it goes beyond opinion to genuine trolling, let one of us know and we'll take care of it. Otherwise, move on. A lot (if not most) of the fights on this board wouldn't happen if people weren't trying to make other people conform to their own opinions (good or bad) about an artist. So far this thread has been pretty good and I don't want to see it go the way of so many other threads.

Lets move on folks....this discussion is -DEAD-. She said her peace and lets leave it at that.
I hope Carrie comes back to Idol and performs "Wasted" if not do you think we have to wait til CMT Awards. Glad to see Wasted as a top 10 smash already, it should peak in about 5-7 weeks hopefully she can secure her 4th #1 with it. IMO, its so much better than DFTRM & JTTW. Maybe cause I'm not a huge country fan and Wasted, BHC, and SWG appeals more to me.

I don't know about you guys but this sounds a little Divaish if you ask me......NOT there were some concerns earlier about Carrie being snotty and ungrateful and also that she said "I Love Country music" during her acceptance speech to be in response to the Chicks, well this is a blurb from an interview by her weeks before the Grammys and it just proves Carrie in no way was being disrespectful to the Chicks.
Carrie tells Dial-Global that she's happy to be going to the Grammys, no matter what the outcome is. "The Best New Artist Award — I think it's really awesome that I was nominated, not just for me," she says. "Honestly I'm glad I get to represent country music, and I think that's something that's kind of getting lost among multi-genre awards shows. I'm really happy I can be there and have a face for country music in that particular award. For Best Female, that's really awesome. Of course, once again, stiff competition as always. It's my first time even going, so I'm happy to be there."
