I think she'll get to about 5.5 mil. I wish she had another huge single, but I don't think there is one. Don't get me wrong... I love most of the songs on her album, but I don't think there's another single on there that would generate sales as BHC and JTTW did. Of course, who gives a crap!??! 5 mil is right around the corner.

I still think BHC (now that's playing on Top 40) will help sustain her sales after the Grammys wave ends.

really?
I don't think I bash Carrie...I think my opinion just differs from the hardcore fans here. IMO neither of us are wrong...just seeing things a different way...
Do you guys think she'll actually appear on Idol to further promote this album since she's stated that she's heading into the studio now to work on album #2.... what would that accomplish? if she wants this era to fade so she can introduce new material I'm not sure going on idol is the way to go.
has anyone in the fanclub heard when she plans on releasing album #2? will it be around Christmas time again this year? or will she wait a full two years between albums?
I know many people are of the opinion that when you have a year as huge as Carrie you should go away for a while and let people miss you before you come out again with new stuff. I think Carrie should release her sophmore album in the Spring of 08....let a full cycle go by and then hit it up big time with a killer sophmore CD....
I think Carrie could easily hit 5.5 million by year end if not more....it'll be interesting to see her numbers next week that's for sure. she had a pretty nice bump this week just on the pre-grammy buzz.

If you asked me a week ago, I would have said there was no way in he*l that Carrie would make on appearance on Idol to promote her current album (even for Wasted) but after seeing who her date to the Grammy's was and after that acceptance speech (no judgements made in this post), I would not put it past her management to put her on Idol....we'll see.
As much as Carrie is thankful to Idol, I see her as far past Idol, as she has been selling records for the music and talent she has put out, far past the initial coattails that all Idols ride on the beginning stages of their debut records. So, I agree, for this and and since she will soon be closing the "Some Hearts" era, there seems to be no good reason to be on Idol, unless management wants it for even more ratings.

I am really impressed with BHC's longevity on the Hot on 100, thanks to ongoing digital sales and big country recurrents and a healthy pop bullet. Brilliant song, I must say....

I can't wait to see Carrie's increase next week. Imagine if she went back to the top 10?

The thing about Carrie is that she embraces Idol and in takes every oppourtunity to do so. Thus if they asked her to make an appearance, I wouldn't think her or her management would pass the chance up at a huge marketing audience. She doesn't have to worry about any consequences because she isn't perceived to have put idol behind her yet. Maybe in a couple years? But if anytime this year, she and Idol still go together.
As for album , think there was talk about starting to work with writers in March. It wouldn't surprise me to see a late year release of an album to sort of strike while the IRON's hot per say.
Country albums get released pretty quick one after the other (I think)

March 1st is when she starts recording. Mention in article on Gordie Sampson (co-writer of JTTW) "Carrie Underwood's making another record - she starts the first of March - so the whole month of February, the big focus will be trying to get songs to her." (There's another article where Carrie herself indicates March 1st, but this is the first one I came across and am too lazy to look for the other one :) ) Also, according to Joe Galante from an article a few weeks back, the lead-off single from the sophomore album will be released in the summer with album release in the fall.

Thanks for the article leila ;)
Wow- so soon ? I am really excited about new material but I also worry about burnout to her and overexposure...but like vinman said, maybe it is not uncommon for artists to release records back to back in the country world, I really don't know ???

Country artists do tend to release albums quickly. Allow me to use Rascal Flatts as an example, since their phenomenal success just keeps on going year after year despite constantly being on radio and releasing albums one after the other in quick succession.
fifth album to be released this fall Me and My Gang- April 4, 2006 Feels Like Today- September 28, 2004 Melt- October 29, 2002 Rascal Flatts (debut album)- June 6, 2000
Except for the gap between the 1st and 2nd albums, all others were released less than 2 years from the previous one.

I think what gives many that it might be too soon for an album is the number of releases singles back to back from SH. I'm not sure what the average number of singles that get released off your average country album but I think 4 would be pretty high. Therefore her cutting a new album this year may seem too early but on paper, I think it goes hand in hand with the country norm.

Four singles seem to be the average when a country album achieves a modicum of success. RF is already on their 4th single from Me and My Gang despite the album just being released last April 2006. Also on their fourth single from their latest albums: Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill (albeit her 4th did not perform well), etc. Bottom line, I think, is that country music is a different animal from pop. I do understand the concern about overexposure/burnout both on Carrie's part and her audience. She seems to be aware of it though and took time to rest and be low-key at the start of the year (and was now only recently visible because of the Grammys). She'll "disappear" again the next few months to work on her album. And there's also going to be a time gap of at least 2 months between Wasted's peak at country radio and the release of the lead-off single for the sophmore. Everything seems to be going along the right way.

Lots of new Grammy-related pics are now up at the fan club. I thought the group pic (and its caption) for the Soul of Country event was particularly interesting. LOL!

I'm not a fan of American Idol. If a former contestant appears that is great for the fans. As far as I'm concerned they don't owe the show a thing. The show is all about ratings and will use the contestants and former contestants as they see fit to keep the ratings high. From those they sign, they also take a cut of the money they earn and try to get songs from their stable of writers on to their CDs, where they again earn more money. It is a business relationship with those they think will make them the most money.
It would be wonderful to see Carrie on this show. I don't watch it but would try to catch her segment. If she doesn't appear, that is OK too.

Everything seems to be going along the right way. 4 singles is standard for the more established country artists, 3 usually for the newcomers since their singles spend a longer time on the charts. carries songs have zoomed up like the bigger artists so 4 is understandable. no worries about releasing another album too soon, its pretty standard.

I guess MTV just refuses to play her videos... did they play Faith's or the other lady I don't wanna bring up, back in the day??
and btw, that MTV interview should put to rest all Kelly's fans that were expecting some kind of compliment from Carrie...
btw 2, lol... watching the 1st hollywood AI round, Ryan said Chris is the fastest Idol do get to one million albums sold... any chance someone could post some kind of showdown fo comparisons, please??

Here is our resident chart guru at Carriefans (Cary)'s take on this: "The statement that was made about Chris' album going Platinum was a little confusing. I'm not sure whether they meant all Idol albums or just the ones from last season. If they meant for last season, then the statement is valid. However, Chris' album was not the fastest to ship Platinum or be certified Platinum if you consider all Idol albums. The debut albums for Clay, Ruben and Fantasia all shipped Platinum prior to the release date. And if you are talking certification, no album is supposed to be certified until at least 30 days after release. Besides Clay, Ruben and Fantasia, Carrie and Kelly reached Platinum in shipments before the end of that 30 day period and all these albums were certified Platinum very near the end of that 30 day period. In fact, Carrie's album was actually certified Platinum before the end of the 30 days (24 days after release to be exact).
Edit: I just read a thread on Pulse that said that Chris' album was certified Platinum on 12/14/06, which is 23 days after release. His album was probably certified before the end of 30 days for the same reason that Carrie's was. No RIAA certifications are done during the last half of December. So, to try and minimize the backlog in January, the RIAA probably does early certification for those albums that already qualify in shipments. So, technically, Chris' album beat Carrie's by one day."I guess MTV just refuses to play her videos... did they play Faith's or the other lady I don't wanna bring up, back in the day?? and btw, that MTV interview should put to rest all Kelly's fans that were expecting some kind of compliment from Carrie... btw 2, lol... watching the 1st hollywood AI round, Ryan said Chris is the fastest Idol do get to one million albums sold... any chance someone could post some kind of showdown fo comparisons, please??
