woo.... simma down now countrygirl!!! No need to get too defensive. Yes Shannon may have jumped the gun on Carrie not showing respect to other AI artist but she hadn't seen this mtv recap. Thanks Vin for the recap. Not everyone is going to say 100% positive things about artist they like. There are die hard fans, huge fans, & causal fans in an artist fanbase.I'm a huge fan of Carries, followed her on AI, didnt purchase the cd til Sept 2006( i know so late) but if I see something that I see as negative for Carrie I'll say it. Shes a diehard fan of Kelly(atleast I assume) and she felt Carrie somehow disrespected Kelly and she responded negative just as you may if you felt Carrie got disrespected. Now with Vins help we see this as not the case. I like Beyonce yet in the It Girl 2006 Thread I believe I said she didnt do anyting but show her armpits and got overshadowed by J-Hud. Now for a kelly fan that is snarky carry yourself over to Christina Aguilera thread, Im sure you'll pick up on who?

I wanted to say thanks to Vinman for the links to getting MP3 versions of Carrie's performances at the Grammys. I totally loved what she did, even the "Rose" song. Even though that wasn't the type of country music I enjoy much, the fact that she can appreciate and celebrate the roots of country and do it justice says a lot. She has never hidden or been fake about her growing up with it her whole life, so embracing it and it's roots is a great thing. She blew me away on Desperado. So now I have versions to put on a CD for music, and I'm making a DVD of many of my favorite artists performances from TV appearances. Hers are going it, along with the one Christina did during the Grammys. This was one of the better award shows (for me) over the last several years. Some years they are barely tolerable or pretty boring, but I really felt a lot of the performances were good this year and interesting enough to want to see again, with Carrie and RF leading the way.
I was so thrilled for her wins and she was again just as gracious and such a lady that she makes us proud. It has truly been a whirlwind for her since AI, and I can't think of anyone more adorable to watch every step of the way. To think it is still only the beginning is awesome. Congrats to Carrie and waiting for the next step.
Does anyone know if there is a You Tube up anywhere yet of Wasted?

Wowzers !!! Where was all that from ? I don't think anyone (including the mods) wants that silly Kelly/Carrie debate back in this thread. I still do not understand why a negative comment about Carrie or any other artist from ANYONE is considered valid grounds for personal attacks. Last time I checked, we are still free to express our opinions (within the rules of the board) without being silenced. C'mon now, let's chill out a bit....silly me, I thought forums were for discussions about the artist, not each other ???

vinman, a huge thank you for the vid. Carrie is a classy gal in every way. What a sweetheart!
As long as she tows the record label's line PH will not feature her in his slimey blog.
I sure hope a fifth single is issued for this current album. This is one album which I can truly say that I enjoy each and every song.

Sorry to any one I offended, It just gets frustrating to come on Carries thread and constantly see someone dissing her.

Take comfort in knowing, the bigger the star, the bigger the diss many times.
The industry and the public at large see Carrie as a classy, talented artist as do we.

That Opry performance of "Stand by your man" was only 11 months ago? My, how things have changed in less than a year!
And thanks vinman for the mtv.com video!

Hey guys, I found a karaoke version of "Inside Your Heaven" that has the key-change in it! It was made after the version she did on the show as opposed to the album version (in which she doesn't do a key change and just holds the note out). Here ya go: www.sendspace.com/file/pc2e22www.megaupload.com/?d=RLCD1NX8

Oh god. I just had a bad thought y'all If Carrie does have a new cd by the end of the year she will be in direct "competition" with certain other artists for holiday/yearend sales **shudders** I firmly believe that my favorite artists should not be able to release cds within 6 months of each other if there is a pending feud just so I do not have to sift through it -_-

I don't want Carrie to go away for the record...I just don't want her to suffer a backlash of sorts and have what some would consider poor sales ala Gretchen Wilson.
Carrie has had the most unbelievable year and when you have a year like that it's usually thought best to get yourself out of the spotlight for a while and let people have the opportunity to miss you...then they will be hungry for new material instead of still enjoying the last thing you did and therefore not as likely to run out and buy.
I personally have no fear of this years sales and who will sell more... I don't expect EITHER of the artists in question to have sales like they did with their last CDs. it's the nature of the beast if you will. Sometimes it should be about growing as an artist and not about how many CDs you can move....and I hope Carrie is able to grow as an artist and have more of her own voice on this next CD....which is why I say take it slow...find the songs that she wants on the album, perhaps sit down with some writers and try her hand at writing more of the songs on the album...all that stuff takes time...and time is on Carrie's side IMO....she's got the world on a string right now... and her next album is critical in her long term success.
LMAO...I'm always surprised when MY opinion seems to be the most important one...baffling...
country I wasn't offended at all by your post, in fact it gave me a good laugh so thanks.

There is no doubt in my mind but that the next CD will be bigger than this one. For one thing she will have more time and for another she just gets better and better. Go Carrie.

i dont think we have anything to worry about as far as carrie's sales go. i really think she is a "one of a kind' artist in that certain rules and restrictions seem to just bounce off her. i mean, she defied everyone that said no country artist would win BNA, and she did.
i actually see her next CD being biggeer cuz more people know who she is.

I just don't see that happening. you do realize how RARE it is for an artist to have two albums in a row sell over 5 million? hell it's rare for an artist to have ONE album sell like that these days.
it's not called the sophmore slump for nothing. A LOT of artists break big in their debut album and then poof it all seems to fizzle out on their second album. It's a real possibility, even with Carrie...
Carrie's success has set the bar SO HIGH that I just think some people are going to be disappointed if she can't achieve that kind of success with two albums back to back...and to me that's a shame. it's like catching lightening in a bottle....
one name says it all: FAITH HILL!! the lashing she took when Carrie fans thought she had somehow disrepected carrie was INSANE IMO... and it's still brought up to this day....

There is no way her 2nd will be as big as her debut... I do see it being a success 3 million, but Carrie's debut will go on to sell well over 5 million, her 2nd album, I see big 1st week, but I don't see it being the smash that is "Some Hearts"....

lol at comparssions with the faith hill incident - That was a joke but it looked bad and blatant
Carries "supposed" disrespect of kelly was only in a few kelly fans heads and has been shown to be crap by carries praise of her in the interview
As for the second album she should not have any trouble going double platinum and all though some will be disappointed anything over that is a bonus - I think with the way sales are slumping kelly will have just as much trouble as carrie at getting near the last albums numbers as the industry is in some dire straights!

Question about Carrie's new album:
I thought I read on some post, pages and pages ago, that Carrie will begin recording forher next record in March 2007. First of all, is that correct ? Next, is there any information as to whether she will be writing on the record or will it be more similar to 'Some Hearts' (or do we not yet know at all) ? Lastly, is there any preliminary month slated for release yet, other than 'by the end of the year' ?
I know that it is very early to expect some definitive answers to those questions, but just wanted to know because I'm wanting some new material !!!! Thanks to y'all in advance for answering.

Yes, she starts recording in March. As for songwriting, she said something to the extent that she gave her ideas to the writers, because she doesn't want to be one of the aritsts that thinks they're so good at writing, when in reality they're just not. She knows what she wants to sing about, she's just going to have people put it in song form. As for the release date, I'm going to assume they're shooting for late summer/early fall.

I would think late summer too. I'm glad she's willing to consider writing but is not in the mindset that it is the end-all, be-all of being a singer or performer. I totally agree with those that are smart enough and honest enough to admit that while they may have some ideas for a song, that they don't have to do it themselves, or that they may not be the best at doing it. It still amazes me that after decades and decades of fantastic singers who never wrote a word or note they sang, now people seem to think that is a requirement of being a singer. Such BS.

I agree completely. It should be more about the voice IMO. It's too bad it doesn't really work that way. Instead radio is polluted with garbage by people who can barely hold a note without going out of tune. It sucks that so few have found a happy medium (having fun lyrics AND a good voice). It's almost as if people are more attracted to the ones that can't sing lol.

Sorry but your comment is incorrect, Carrie said that she was not sure she was going to be a good writer but she has already had a 2 week writing session with writers and does plan on writing some of her own material. She did say if she isn't good enough to her liking then she doesn't want to be one of those artists that thinks they are when they really arent' so Carrie is giving her writing skills a run with the writers. If I Ain't in Checotah Anymore is any indication of her skills then I think we should see quite a few Carrie co-written songs on the album. that song was well done and really gave you a sense of who Carrie is.
