Thanks for that video Vinman, nice compliment from Carrie about Kelly. Sadly that probably won't be enough and people will find something else to biotch about.

While talking about the idols and their success she just said something along the lines of "And you know, Kelly Clarkson of course is the #1 American Idol..."

I guess MTV just refuses to play her videos... did they play Faith's or the other lady I don't wanna bring up, back in the day?? and btw, that MTV interview should put to rest all Kelly's fans that were expecting some kind of compliment from Carrie... btw 2, lol... watching the 1st hollywood AI round, Ryan said Chris is the fastest Idol do get to one million albums sold... any chance someone could post some kind of showdown fo comparisons, please?? Don't know if they are talking shipped or sold, but Chris crossed 1M sold in his 5th week. So did Carrie and Ruben. Clay did it in 4. All 3 had 5-week totals higher than Chris. FYI, Thankful took 9 weeks, Breakaway 6, and Fantasia was 13. Taylor might never get there

Thanks for the cap, vinman. Yeah, when asked by MTV.com's Corey Moss about now being the person people see as validating Idol (paraphrase, but I think it's close), Carrie replies that a lot of good things have happened for Idols in the past year and showed what the show can launch. She cites Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, and then mentions Kelly, as Mikey says above. That's pretty much consistent with her stance since taking the AI4 title, which is part of why I was puzzled that anyone would think she was suddenly trying to take credit for herself. I mean, I don't think she had a sudden bout of stupid.
The other part of my puzzlement is that, as a big Clay fan, it has never occurred to me to think that Clay is being dissed when other non-titleholding Idol alumni have talked about their successes proving that one doesn't need to win. All I take that to mean is that these people think their successes represent an example of something, not the only one that has ever existed. Similarly, though we still don't have Carrie's full answer (nor do we know the question that prompted her answer), I figured that Carrie was simply trying to say that her Grammys are an example of the kind of success that validates Idol. That's the interpretation that is consistent with her previous remarks, anyway, as well as her remarks to MTV.com.
Speaking of AI, Carrie said last month that she would like to meet this year's top-24, so I would imagine that she'll show up to at least watch a performance show at some point this season. I don't know about performing, though. My sense is that the AI producers are holding out the Wednesday performance slots as carrots for veteran artists to come coach this year's contestants. That's not something I see Carrie doing or getting asked to do, because she's still relatively new. It's possible that she'll get invited to perform at the AI6 finale, though, and if that happens, I imagine she'll take the chance to do so.
As for Carrie's next album, as leilamaurizia suggests, country artists seem to release new albums pretty soon after the previous album cycle winds down, so it's reasonable to expect Carrie to release her album this fall (as Joe Galante told EW). Heck, I remember Jimmy Carter of All Access' Rumbles from the Row complaining in a column last month about Carrie's album being as much as 8-9 months away! Overexposure isn't nearly the concern on country radio that it might be on the Pop and Urban formats because country radio doesn't accord nearly the number of spins to top songs that those formats do. I think there is going to be significant pressure on Carrie to have her new album ready for a fall release, even though the label also has the option of sending out a 5th single ("I Ain't in Checotah Anymore"!) if it looks like the album is taking longer than currently planned.

I think Carrie respects Kelly a great deal and is getting bashed due to some of her fans dissing Kelly.

Haha, it's like Carrie read this board. Even from people minimizing her award saying winning one of the Big 4.
"Everyone's like pinpointing you now as the person validating the show." So then the greedy Carrie sits there and talks about herself, haha yeah right. She mentions Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson (#1 American Idol).

seems that's what you're hoping for countrygirl That video was very nice indeed. and honestly all I hoped for was that Carrie would acknowledge the others who are also proving Idol is more than just a talent show, which she more than accomplished. as for MTV refusing to play her videos...well two points I'll make...one, CMT doesn't play Justin Timberlake LOL...and 2. MTV doesn't play videos hardly at all anyway.... there is like a two hour window in the AM that they play them but other than that Music Television is no longer about the music.... this leads me to believe that Carrie isn't very confident in her ability to maintain her success and I have to wonder why she'd feel that way. She's got all the talent it takes to have a career for as long as she wants one so IMO she should slow down a little and enjoy the ride...not worry so much about when it's going to end.... can I just be honest and say it's really comments like this that make me WANT to express my opinion, esp when it might not go over so big here. Let it go already. sheesh.... everytime someone said something seemingly negative about Carrie they got pounced on...Carrie's in the big leagues now.... wait until PH starts calling her a lesbian LOL....

www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?BRD=1725&dept_id=498331&newsid=17855555&PAG=461&rfi=9 -How on God's green earth is Rascal Flatts as big as they are? Frontman Gary LeVox looks like he just got done his shift at the Old Country Buffet, and I've seen local dive bar cover bands play The Eagles better than they did last night. Thankfully they were trading songs with Carrie Underwood, who was quite possibly the hottest woman at the event. I'm not prepared to choose between her and Scarlett Johansson (who looks like a completely different person these days).

LOL! It was just all that shit that people not only you had said about her comments, blown all out of proportion just to make her look bad, at least you took it back. It was more directed to all the other people who think she's a stuck up bitch due to made up fan encounters and random quotes.

I'd agree with that statement...Carrie looked stunning...even in that ugly green get-up she wore during San Antonio Rose LOL...

I'd agree with that statement...Carrie looked stunning...even in that ugly green get-up she wore during San Antonio Rose LOL... The dress was ugly but perfect for the old-time feel of the performance. It was something June Carter probably would have worn when she was that age. Although June also would sometimes wear some of the ugliest floor-length dresses ever seen.

I do know someone who met Carrie and said it wasn't a pleasant experience and she remains a Carrie fan....she just stated what happened is all. I don't think she was intending to put Carrie down...just how she felt after the meeting I guess. Granted Carrie might've just been having an off day, who knows. I've never met her so I can't say one way or the other.
yeah...and Carrie was a good sport to wear it that's for sure. LOL.

so, im planning to visit Nashville pretty soon so i decided to request a brochure from the Nashville Visitor's Bureau, and i got it in the mail today. I tore apart the envelope and the middle of the brochure opened up, as if a sign for me to take a look at it from the center. lo and behold, theres a reason for everything and this was it for those who can't see the words, this is what it said its one thing for us obsessed fans to love a carrie performance, but for one to be talked about almost a year after it happened in a publication is amazing, and this was the only ad using a country star for the opry in the brochure. looks like it wasnt only us who felt the magic of that evening. and they chose an absolutely lovely pic too :)

There will always be bashers... I like looking at the country critics... because in the long run, they mean more for her career.
In other news, I heard BHC on my pop station today... does anyone know if it's a different version, because it sounded a little different.

LOL @ the fact also that it was written by a CMT author, no less

seems that's what you're hoping for countrygirl NO IT'S JUST HOW I HAVE WITNESSED SOME PEOPLE ACTING. That video was very nice indeed. and honestly all I hoped for was that Carrie would acknowledge the others who are also proving Idol is more than just a talent show, which she more than accomplished. as for MTV refusing to play her videos...well two points I'll make...one, CMT doesn't play Justin Timberlake LOL...and 2. Let it go already. sheesh.... everytime someone said something seemingly negative about Carrie they got pounced on...Carrie's in the big leagues now.... wait until PH starts calling her a lesbian LOL.... HER ALBUM HAS BEEN OUT FOR AWHILE NOW BY THE TIME THE NEW ALBUM COMES OUT IT WILL HAVE BEEN 2 YEARS, IT'S TIME FOR A NEW ONE. YOU KNOW YOU ARE THE MASTER OF MANIPULATION YOU CAN TURN ANYTHING ABOUT CARRIE INTO A NEGATIVE, HONESTLY I THINK YOU ARE ARE AFRAID THAT SHE WILL HAVE EVEN MORE SUCCESS. SEEMS TO ME YOU HOPE SHE WILL GO AWAY AND PEOPLE WILL FORGET HER THEN YOU AND YOU CROONYS WON'T HAVE ANY MORE COMPETITION. ;) I'M CURIOUS WHY YOU CAN MAKE SNARKY COMMENTS ON CARRIES BOARD ABOUT CARRIE BUT NO ONE ELSE CAN COMMENT BACK WITH A SNARKY COMMENT. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CARRIE AND HER FANS GO BACK TO KELLY'S EXPRESS OR WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM AND SNARK ABOUT CARRIE WITH PEOPLE WHO AGREE WITH YOU.

I love chet Flippo of CMT!! This is the second time he has written a full column about carrie- and he really made carrie look good both times! :) gotta love that. As for the chics issue- I think they are super super talented and did deserve some awards- but not as many as they got. mary j blige or justin or someone else should have won some of those. The overkill of it all made it clear that it was a political statement and not fair to the other artists- as the CMT writer correctly said.
I sort of feel bad for rascal flats!! They are getting slammed everywhere for their grammy performance, while carrie is luckily getting mostly good reviews. But I really did enjoy their Life in the fast lane performance- gary did better on that song then hotel california. Did anyone here think they were as bad as people keep saying? I thought they were ok. not great- but not horrid.

T I thought they were good on Hotel California but not Great, I think the chemistry between Gary and Carrie was the best part of Life in the Fast lane, their voices go very well together and Carrie seemed to really come out of her shell and have alot of fun. I still think San Antonio Rose was her best performance, she knocked it out of the park.
