A FAN LISTENED TO THE ALBUM AND REVIEWED IT
CHECK IT OUT
.-Ordinary day: Maybe the best song on the album, very sweet, tender and calm. I love the vocal effects at the end of the chorus. At first it didn't impress me as a single but definitely a grower and one of the subtlest songs on the album.
2.-When we were young: The catchiest song on the album by far. A future single for sure. Lyrics are too simple for my taste, but quite enjoyable anyway.
3.-In the garden: I have never liked this song, nor the lyrics, nor the metal vibe of the chorus. I actually don't keep the first version which was leaked, so I am not sure if it is the same exactly. I think that some effects, backing vocals, a piano and a low and short strings have been added, but very few changes if there's any. If someone mail me the old version, I could tell 100% sure.
4.-Human spirit: I like the piano intro but not into Irish music. Personally I think I'm not going to hear it anymore.
5.-Loser: This is a funny song "I'm sick and tired of people like you", she sings. The song has a small Morrissey feeling, but rocker and more agressive. Its attitude can remind us to 'Such a waste'. Very catchy. My third favourite on the album.
6.-Stay with me: It starts very calm and acoustic but the chorus explode and becomes quite metal with Metallica-alike guitars, but it's mid-tempo, quite slow. Dolores' voice going up repeats "Stay with me ah-ha-ha"... Fans gonna love it.
7.-Apple of my eye: It's a ballad. At first I thought it was going to be my favourite track, because it has a similar vibe to 'Pretty eyes': heavenly and tender. I love the begining but it lasts too much, it is too repetitive and you get a little bit tired of it.
8.-Black widow: It looks like Dolores has tried a song with a similar structure to 'Daffodil lament', but muuuuch darker. First minutes here are calm, piano-driven whispers, with electronic effects on Dolores' voice. Second half of the song gets really heavy and gothic. Third part of the song is really calm again, kind of instrumental. If we are possitive it could work in a Tim Burton movie. If we are negative, it sounds like Evanescence, who I hate. It's gonna be a controversial song in critics terms. In fan terms, a favourite for sure.
9.-October: Here, my favourite of the album, in spite of the begining "October, October, the summer is over". The tune is so good it gets shivers to your spine, very Coldplay-chorus, specially on the guitars, while Dolores yodles. If you have ever liked Coldplay, prepare to love this one and hear it on repeat.
10.-Accept things: It starts like a bossa-folkie song, in the rythm. The chorus is much better than the verses, very poppy. It reminds me to a lot of Eurovision Contest songs in the chorus, cause there's a half-tone increase in the tune at the end, I think.
11.-Angel fire: I definitely don't think she says "champagne" on this song, but not 100% sure. I don't have any special feelings for this song, nor good, nor bad. Maybe it is too rock too pop or it is in the middle of nowhere.
12.-Ecstasy: If there's a song similar to this one it could be 'Fee Fi Fo', which doesn't mean it is the same exactly or something. As a matter of fact, one of the best things on the album is that any of the songs are exactly like any of the old ones, as it happened in 'Wake up' album. This song is a little weak but on the other hand it doesnt "explode", which for me is a good thing.
