Here's the full Entertainment Weekly 25 must-have CD's for the fall excerpt on Tasia. I love what she has to say and how she compliments Kelly.
19 Fantasia NOVEMBER Still Untitled
You might think you already know everything you need to know about Fantasia Barrino: the baby-mama drama; the underfunded gospel background; the long, hard struggle with illiteracy. It's all been well covered by the show (American Idol), the book (Life Is Not a Fairy Tale), the Lifetime movie (The Fantasia Barrino Story). But now you may need to get to know another Fantasia. "I'm feelin' confident, feelin' sexy, feelin' hot," she says in that raspy-Fraggle giggle of hers. "I'm feeling like a brand-new person, and I'm ready to sing about it!"
Though her debut album, Free Yourself, moved a solid 1.7 million copies, sales were largely confined to the urban and R&B markets, something that Fantasia would like to change with the follow-up CD. "I want to be a household name, and I want to be able to cross over and do different things," she says. "I'm like, let's do some stuff that will touch everybody, that everyone can groove to." To that end, she has recruited an impressive roster of big-name producers and collaborators, including OutKast's Big Boi (on the track "Hood Boy"), Swizz Beats (who helms "Surround You"), Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo, rapper Missy Elliott, and movie-ballad songwriting queen Diane Warren.
While her first album was heavy on cover songs, this time around Fantasia is trying her hand at co-writing her own material. It's all part of working hard to assert some post-Idol autonomy. She doesn't have a bad word to say about the cultural juggernaut that launched her, but Barrino and her American Idol advisers parted ways early this summer. And she talks admiringly of Kelly Clarkson, who made the stratospheric leap from a respectable first album to an airwaves-ruling, multiplatinum sophomore release. "[Kelly] had more imput on her second album," Fantasia says. "She knew what she wanted, she had the vision. You can work with a lot of producers, and you can have people give you songs and you just sing them, but it's a difference when it's what you want to do. You go in and you just kill it."

The EW writeup sounds sooooo good. She was one of the people who got the most text.
Now the picture, I really like the old school vibe of it. The tv with no reception to mimic back in the day when there was no cable. The old fan to mimic when there was no AC. The sweat on Fantasia with the look of being hot. That is cool, she's right, she is hot now.
Now I see why folks want her to disappear and are hoping that promotion is taken away, they are threatened. How are you going to take promotion away from a 4 time grammy nominated artist, who's cd is full of heavy hitters, who's getting great reviews about her sophomore album as well as just brought in tens of millions of viewers on her life story. That's nuts to even think much less say on a public message board that promotion would be taken away from a clear hit and winner.
Some folks are desperate.

I must say I can't wait to hear this CD. Really didn't like her first album. Thought the songs were boring and a waste of her talent. However this record sounds like it's going to be amazing!

It looks like Fantasia got a new management company i think this was a wise choice. myspace.com/violatoralready there doing there thing The Apollo 9/22 The African American Parade today in NY The Aretha Franklin UNCF The Black Expo in Florida 9/29 I agree, in looking at their website and roster, they have a great mix of grammy and oscar winners as clients. Plus, it looks to me that Fantasia is the most famous R & B artist, which I think will be a plus for her as they likely promote their most famous the best, couple that with her amazing talent and I think the combination will be great. Of course you have the superstar rap artists like Missy Elliot, 50 Cent, thee six mafia all of whom have won grammy awards and even an Oscar.....so it sounds great to me. Actually 50 cent hasn't won any grammy awards, but he's been nominated heavily everytime, not ot mention he makes huge money and is always on the rollingstone top money makers list. If the Aretha Franklin tribute is any indication of what's to come, things are looking great because Fantasia just did the UNCF Tribute last year and usually they don't have the same folks back as performers the very next year....they usually like to mix it up. I believe she was/is the only performer returning from 2006 for the 2007 telecast. Stevie Wonder, but last year was different, he was the honoree, this year he is part of the tribute to Aretha, plus he's a legend so he gets to do whatever he wants.

I don't think she left J Records. If she'd left J records that would have made headlines faster then her leaving her management compnay.
She should give J records a shot through the sophomore album then cut them loose if they don't also step up for her.

We got to preview 4 tracks off the album that are being considered for the lead single and they all are HOT!!
"I Nominate You": A smoldering and SEXY ballad about Fantasia and her man gettin it on!!! I don't think anybody expected Fantasia to get so sexy and provocative with her lyrics but it works!!! People would pay a lot more attention to her if she put this out. I think it would be perfect 2nd single material!!
"When I See You": It's a mid-tempo love song about infatuation that I think pop radio would eat up. It could crossover easily.
"Hood Boy" ft. Big Boi: This is the record she needs to get all eyes on her!! It would easily bang in every hood and car and on every major urban station all across America!! The beat is sick, Big Boi's cameo is on point and her lyrics and vocals are direct and to the point!! "I don't want no pretty n*gga!!" is just a sample of what to expect.
"Baby Makin' Hips": A fun uptempo track that could be a nice 3rd or 4th single released just for fun. It's catchy and the concept alone is worth some major airplay.

I didn't listen to 'em a bunch of times but I'm not impressed. The beats are dope - the singing style is okay. The lyrics are kind of garbage. Why would you go and sing some mess that brook valentine, monica, keyshia cole and every other r&b chick trying to be hood can sing.
Wack. And only because Fantasia can do so much better than this. I hate J Records brand of R&B. They're just dragging her down. What happened to real singing.
