I don't like NTWTID as a single. It will surely not go anywhere. Had she released Two Weeks Notice it would have been a guarantee #1. I wonder who's responsible for choosing the singles, is it really the artist?

Surround U might not be a candidate for the next single, but it's the best option. I agree. That song is HOT. I wanted that or "I feel beautiful."

NTWTID is her next single. Promo CDs are already out. They sent out promo cds without a radio edit? Because I have yet to find a promo cd with a clean version off this song. If this is really the 3rd single it takes the cake as the dumbest decision in a whole host of dumb decisions made in the "Fantasia era" Fantasia has the whole WISU, Color Purple, mature image going for her right now. She is about to have a big spread in O Magazine and I believe another appearance on Oprah, when the show returns for the season. And they decide to send out a single with her talking about n!gga's this and b!tches that?

I think Clive has it in for her or something, no promo for WISU and now this. He should be praising her to death after The Color Purple and the Tony performance but instead nothing and this god awful next single, if its true.
I do know that Fantasia wanted Two Weeks Notice

Not The Way That I Do huh... Well I like that song but it seems too raunchy now that she did When I See U. I think they should have gone for Surround U, that song is good and clean, very R&B pop with a good summer vibe!

All it needs is a radio edit - the song is fire and the beat is fire. Get a good, hot video.

she's a moron for releasing NTWTID. Last time I checked, artists didn't release songs personally. Now if this is true, the people at J are morons. ETA: I think "Surround You" would be ideal for the next single. Swizz is hot right now, and people are feeling his tracks.

I think so 2, i know the song would do well here in jamaica, and it's a different side of tasia, i wouldn't choose this as the next single but maybe they know something we don't, although i doubt that, i don't think i want another ballad by fantasia at this point, surround you or baby makin hips, but that's just my take on it

A hot video doing what? I hope not dancing, no offense but she just can't dance if the Hood Boy video was any indication, leave it to the other girls. :( The good thing about it is the CD is already Gold, so when NTWID flops, at least WISU brought the CD out of it's slump. I really hate that song. lol I think "Only One U" would have rode the Urban/Urban AC line just perfectly, or even Surround U.

OMG I instantly hated "Not The Way That I Do" when I listened to it. It just doesn't sound like Fantasia's musical style at all. The ballads/midtempos are absolutely perfect...I hope the label changes their mind.

A lot of songs you hear on the radio are heavily, heavily edited. I talked to jrecs 3 years ago and they stressed that people talk like that. So those folks can have it that way, and they can do a radio edit for the clean version.
This is nothing new in music. Remember luda's hit "move"? Well I was at an event in atlanta and had never heard it off the radio, when all of a sudden people started using the real words, lol. I was surprised.
Shockingly, the song did great, people sing it, and luda went on to star in films and win a grammy.
This song finds fantasia flowing. Basically rapping - so compare it to other rappers who have radio edits. I was more than a little distressed to learn jay-z's "can I get a what what" was actually can I get a "fuck you" when not the radio edit.
But that song was hot, a big hit and hov went on to be huge afterward.
"Gimme dat" - webbie & bun b, similar deal.
Feel me? I mean this goes back to ice-t and company.
Fantasia can dance her ass off. I don't know if you're judging off only that joint, but I've seen her live multiple times and seen her dancing on different shows.
All she needs is a radio edit and a hot video. Those tom toms hit hard. That beat bangs. If it was keyshia, mary j or even missy, nobody would blink.
Edit it, make a video and be gone with it (go 'head girl) ;)
I hope her next cd is cuss free, so that people can look past the language and see that she can flow. That's not easy to do - just ask madonna, lol.

Those songs were hits, but that doesn't mean NTWID will be a hit. It's catchy no doubt, but I skip it on the CD every time.
Surround U will be a success regardless of when it's released. It might sound too similar to When I See U for some, so maybe it should be a 4th single. Two Weeks Notice should be sent for adds next.

I don't want fantasia to put out a ballad for the next single, let a slow jam be the 4th single

I wonder who's responsible for choosing the singles, is it really the artist? In most cases, no, especially if the artist is not a producer or songwriter. Usually the producers or executive producer (in this case, quite probably Clive himself) decides.

Yes I know its the head honchos of the label that make the single decisions lol I was being liberal when I said she was a moron...but if she is going ahead with it then WTF? She should fight for another song.

BTW Surround U would be a HOT choice! With all the Swizz Beatz singles like Eve's and Beyoncé's it would fit right in. Especially for summertime.

Hmmmm...given the radio fortunes of "Hood Boy" versus "When I See U," I'm not sure I understand choosing "Not the Way That I Do" as the next single. It's a pretty good song, but why rely on Urban (and not UAC) when it seems more interested in Fantasia ballads? Not to mention the point others have made about this not fitting the Fantasia drawing so many kudos for her work in The Color Purple.
Putting my moderator hat on for a second...this thread is getting to the point that we should start thinking about starting a new one (because of the risk of the thread imploding if it gets too long). It doesn't have to be immediate, and it would be nice if there were a natural springboard event with which to do so. Or maybe someone could type up a nice introductory first post that summarizes the Fantasia era so far, and also notes some of Fantasia's accomplishments as Celie in TCP? Just one person, since we don't need multiple new Fantasia threads. ;)

I love NTWID!!!!!!!! but as a 3rd single especially with the fall and her Oprah appearances..not very smart but their is still time to change the decision..Their are so many hits on this album it's ashame!!!!!!!!...I just see "Baby Makin Hips" being a risk but I know it will pay off..It's incredible..all the critics who reviewed the album agree they love BMH...I know J Records are not ready for BMH as the 3rd single..It's hard..LOL I LOVE the album...I'll say go with "Two Weeks Notice"(radio edit) or "Only 1 U" or "I Feel Beautiful" either one of those would tear up the airwaves it would be a breath of fresh air to hear some actual R&B on the radio.

I don't think NTWID is a good choice at all for a single. Because Fantasia is more of a slow burner song kinda artist, J should go with that. I know that that's creating too much of a nihce potentially, but I would rather release all slow jams and have people to buy my CD than to release lame uptempos and there's no response because that's not what folks are receptive to from me. 2 Weeks Notice shouldve been released. For the official 3rd single, I'm thinking 2 Week Notice.
