Fantasia and Aretha ! Excellent pairing ~ hopefully the "yeah yeah yeah" of Fantasia's won't overshadow the great Aretha's talent though and Fantasia will yield to the more prominent performer. Don't misunderstand, Fantasia has a great vocal gift and uses it well, just my thinking she does go overboard on the "yeahing" bit. I'd bite on this one just for Aretha quite frankly, Fantasia is a bonus.

Aretha Franklin, wow! And Kanye, Missy, Ne-Yo--this is going to be good. Fantasia mentioned at the BET Awards that her CD was going to be something different, with an old-school sound. Can't wait to hear it.

Even without those big names I don't think she'd flop.
But one thing I do know for sure, she and Aretha are almost guaranteed an R & B duo grammy award. Fantasia has proven with Free Yourself that she can get nominations and Aretha Franklin has proven that when she's nominated she wins.
Early prediction!!!!
Nice the the first single and movie are both coming in August, perhaps it will be the theme song of the movie. I'll stay tuned.

Unfortunately, Aretha will probably sound like ass like she has for the past few years or so.

Aretha has not sounded that great in her last few performances is what she's implying.

benmcd2000 (thanks!) hipped me to this - Fantasia's on Sam Moore's CD, Overnight Sensational! I hate that she got the rook assignment and singing that song is going to be a hefty task given my negative connotations of it, but it's a Diane Warren joint and Diane has been wanting Fantasia to record her material, so how could she say no really. The CD is just packed with music legends. Tasia got it goin on.

It's that "Blame It On the Rain", as in the Milli Vanilli song?! . As much as I know I shouldn't, that song is a guilty pleasure to me and I really like it. Now someone with talent will actually be singing it, so even better! :)

I agree with you, ur predictions are interesting i hope they come through for both parties, the person who said this album will flop is just plain dumb because even without these big names tasia would still be a success people stop hating, but alot of people have looked down on tasia and i bet when this album blows up ur gonna see the wagonist acting like they loved tasia from the very begining, thank u lord and will u continue to bless my tasia an keep her. She is one of the best the world has to offer and i feel honourned to whitness such an awesome talent!!!! Haterz jump a cliff head way down ;)

I really, really want to hear what Fantasia would sound like in a full on rock track. I think she could wail with the best of them, maybe something Led Zeppelin like. Of course, I doubt that will happen any time soon, but I really do think she has the type of transcendant voice that would allow her to explore so many different genres of music, rather than just neo-soul/hip-hop.

I would like to here Fantasia sing different types of music as well. But I am also of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school. Her last album was R&B perfection, one of the best female R&B records I ever heard, flawless from beginning to end.
Whatever it is, add this to the list of 15 albums I'm looking forward to hearing. I think the is the most exciting 3 months in music history for me!

Mariah, Fantasia, Randy Jackson Set Out To Revive 'Soul Man' Sam Moore 07.11.2006 12:23 PM EDT Long list of stars have signed on to collaborate with soul legend Sam Moore on August LP. Randy Jackson has brought in some of his dawgs for his new pet project. The "American Idol" judge has enlisted Mariah Carey, Fantasia and Jon Bon Jovi, among many others, to collaborate on an album he hopes will revive the career of soul legend Sam Moore — of Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" fame — the way pairings with contemporary stars like Rob Thomas gave Carlos Santana new life on his 1999 LP, Supernatural. Jackson is producing the album, which will also feature such heavyweights as Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Eric Clapton. Titled Overnight Sensational, Moore's first contemporary solo album is due August 29 on Rhino Records. "[He's] the true original," Jackson said in a press release. "The phone has been ringing off the hook from artists wanting to get involved with this project; everyone wants to sing with Sam." Moore and fellow southern gospel vocalist Dave Prater signed to Atlantic Records in 1965 as duo Sam & Dave and quickly moved over to the legendary Memphis-based label Stax, which was affiliated with Atlantic. With guidance from songwriting/producing partners Isaac Hayes and Dave Porter, the pair released hits including "Hold On! I'm Coming" and "Soul Man," which was popularized in the late 1970s by the Dan Aykroyd/ John Belushi "Saturday Night Live" sketch and film "The Blues Brothers." Moore and Prater had already split in 1970, however, due to irreconcilable tensions, and Prater died in a 1988 car accident. Sam & Dave were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, the same year Moore appeared on Springsteen's Human Touch LP. For Overnight Sensational, Mariah sings with country star Vince Gill on a song called "It's Only Make Believe," while Fantasia is featured on "Blame It On the Rain." Van Hunt and Nikka Costa, who are both managed by Jackson, perform with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons on "If I Had No Loot" and Clapton is joined by pedal-steel guitarist Robert Randolph on "You Are So Beautiful." "Beautiful," as well as "I Can't Stand the Rain," also feature the final recordings from late keyboardist Billy Preston (see "Billy Preston, Legendary Soul Keyboardist And 'The Fifth Beatle,' Dies At 59"). Bad Company's Paul Rodgers, who most recently handled vocal duties for Queen, shares the mic on the Garth Brooks-penned "We Shall Be Free," and Sheila E. and Steve Winwood also appear on the album. www.mtv.com/news/articles/1536056/2...?headlines=true
