Although a lot of them were probably finished on VHS so they’re stuck at their current resolution but if the masters are available, a new scan wouldn’t hurt. The estate would definitely recoup that cost with the video and audio streams. Maybe even making some lyric videos wouldn’t hurt either. |

It's progress but I'm forever skeptical and her estate needs a complete refresh generally. Her latest branding / visuals really don't match her legacy and neither do some of the newer ventures like the Aaliyah app.

I really liked Aaliyah ever since I was a kid. I remember seeing the videos for "Are You That Somebody?" and "Try Again" (my favorite from her) all the time. I remember being shocked and so upset when my Dad told 8-year-old me that she died in a plane crash. It's so sad because she was so talented and I really do feel like she was just about to become a BIG superstar. Can't believe it's going to be 20 years in August.  |

I remember buying her first album on tape and playing “At Your Best” on repeat. I remember getting OIAM and turning the volume up on the stereo to experience ALL THAT BASS. I remember watching Romeo Must Die thinking she’s about to be actress. I remember playing the Red Album on repeat and running all over the house begging EVERYONE to listen to it. I also remember watching her MTV Diary and remembering her amazing spirit she had and how funny Eric (her makeup artist) was on that rollercoaster! I remember watching CNN and them announcing she had died. Awful awful day.

I remember going on the computer to check my e-mail and saw a message from an Aaliyah fan group that I was in at that time, saying that she had died in a plane crash. I thought it had to be some sick joke. It was just unbelievable because I remember seeing her on TRL not too long ago. I remember also seeing her death being announced on the MSN homepage. Also on that same day, they showed her MTV's Diary episode. I felt so sad. |

My stepdad told me about her passing early that Sunday morning. I remembered it so clearly because we were on our way out to see Rush Hour 2. I remembered being at the movies and couldn’t properly enjoyed it because my mind was trying to understand death and the loss of her. I was 12 at the time.

I've also been a fan of Aaliyah since I was a kid. I was 7 when she died and had just started 2nd grade. I remember that many of my classmates wanted to sing "One in a Million" in the talent show that year (and also "God Send me an Angel" from Angie Perez). Around this time, I would burn mixed CDs with music pirated from Kazaa and always include an Aaliyah song. I remember watching the making of the "Rock the Boat" video on Access Granted. I believe it was Fatima Robinson who took pictures of Aaliyah as she slept because she thought Aaliyah looked peaceful and beautiful while sleeping. I don't remeber how I found out about her passing. I may have blocked it out. I ordered the OIAM album from Amazon in 2009. As I got older, I've become an even bigger fan.
