NEWS! "Let It Go" is Missy Elliott's second feature in two years, with only Busta Rhymes' "Touch It" remix between this and her 2005 album, The Cookbook. So just where has Ms. Misdemeanor been? "I been workin' on my album. I should have a single out by the end of August," says Elliott. She is reluctant to give away details, but she does offer, "I don’t think it's gonna be any different from what I do. I just try to give the unexpected. As different as it gets right now, I would wanna do a record with Amy Winehouse, but I don't have her yet. When I go to the clubs lately I notice a lot of the music is real slow tempo. My main thing is to get the girls dancing, cause once you get the girls dancing the guys will always follow. When I go in the clubs now, the records are so hard it's like even the girls are like, [barks] 'THROW YA HANDS UP!' People ain't really havin fun with it no more, so that's my main thing - trying to get people back in the club." Elliott is also working on her autobiographical movie, which was optioned by Universal Pictures last year. " I'm helping the writer [Diane Houston] to come up with the right stuff cause I don’t want it to be watered down. I want it to be raw and uncut the way my life was," she says. "People gonna be shocked, cause a lot of people don’t know the background of Missy Elliott. They know Missy Elliott the character." Exclusive: Missy In The Mix With Doritos Campaign
Missy Elliott is adding flair to a new ad campaign for Doritos Collisions, Billboard has learned. In a TV spot that debuts Sept. 17, Elliott is seen working on a new track and then pausing to snack on Doritos Collisions chips. Inspired by the two different-tasting chips in the same bag, Elliott has an epiphany: her song needs two different musical styles. So, she immediately injects her hip-hop track with a little bit of country twang.
The multi-platform campaign was created by the Goodby, Silverstein & Partners agency. According to Rudy Wilson, brand manager of Doritos, the campaign's multi-million dollar media buy is the brand's biggest advertising spend of the year, outside of its Super Bowl ad buy.
Elliott's manager, Mona Scott of Violator Management, says the campaign offered her client the perfect creative outlet. "The whole idea of the mash-up is so prevalent and popular in music today," Scott says. "It's so Missy. And the fact that the campaign takes place in a studio means that Missy remains in her element, which makes the whole thing authentic."
But Scott acknowledges there was another important element that helped cinch the deal: "The TV portion is fine," she explains, "but the Internet element provides us with a great back-end." A link takes fans to Elliott's Web site, where they learn more about the artist and her forthcoming, new album (tentatively titled "The Countdown"), due in December from The Gold Mind/Atlantic Records. "We see this as a great way to further maximize Missy the artist and the new album," Scott adds.
Wilson calls the online experience "a bold, intensive experience for our consumers." Visitors logging on to snackstrongproductions.com will be encouraged to create their own mash-ups (or "collisions"), using Elliott's track as the foundation. Completed mixes can be posted and shared in a "gallery" on the site. Five winners -- with prizes still to be determined -- will be selected.
Elliott fans visiting the site can also "interact" with the artist, Wilson says. "If you press the 'help' button, Missy will give you a few tips and pointers." The online platform will also contain exclusive footage of Elliott.
The original track, created by Elliott especially for Doritos, will not be commercially available, and it will not appear on her new album. Still, it could be expanded into a full track, Scott says. "We've already started exploring ways to further Missy's relationship with Doritos," she says. "So, this piece of music could be developed into a full song for an upcoming Doritos campaign. The possibilities are many."

Missy has yet to make a bad album. I love all Missys records, except I wasnt as big of a fan of This is Not a Test. But I always buy her records! Shes my favorite female rapper/singer! Next to Lauryn Hill but shes gone now! lol |

I hope this better than The Cookbook. That was a waste of a gift card. Hopefully she's working with Timbo so she can create another gem like Under Construction.  I think The Cookbook is her best next to Under Construction! I still LOVE her first 2 albums! |

In August, a group named "Reunite Missy and Timbaland" popped up on MySpace. It was a response from fans who feared the duo had split up because Timbaland was quoted saying that Elliott's sixth album was too over-the-top for hip-hop. "He was saying it in a good way," laughs Elliott. "Like, I'm so far-left, people might not be ready for me." If the disc's hyper pace is too crazy, Timbaland is partly to blame: he and Nate "Danja" Hills cooked up its rowdy, "fun-for-the-club" beats. T-Pain also makes a cameo on the album, which Elliott cut in Miami, New York and Los Angeles. "I never want to give them another 'Get Ur Freak On' or another 'Work It,'" she says. "We're trying different stuff, just going in blind and hoping that people will be with it."
