Let's not get carried away here folks. And let's remember that this year is 10 years since Come On Over has been on shelves, and its quite possible that we'll see a re-release that would bump sales up for this year and next year. Mercury might do some cross-promotion with a new album, or just restock the shelves. It's my guess that when the next studio album is released that Mercury will decide to pull shipments of "Shania Twain", "The Woman In Me", and "Up!", and instead load the shelves with "Come On Over", "Shania's Greatest Hits", and the new album. Makes complete sense. And 2m is very right about the "Hits" replacing "Come On Over". And it'll be interesting to see in 10 years how much Shania's hits package sells. If there is an anniversary issue, it would have to depend on how it is promoted. And yes, a new album would also boost overall catalog sales. However, anniversary releases of big albums from other artists and spikes in catalog from other artists have historically only produced only short term sales spikes. After an initial burst, catalog sales tend to quickly return to historical norms. Creative marketing or staging one event or another could alter that of course. The initial success of 'Come On Over' owes a lot to creative marketing and Shania's management team has certainly proven to be capable of that. But, let's not forget, 'Come On Over' is now 10 years old. How much of the marketing dollar, in reality, will actually go towards making 'Come On Over' a hit again instead of pushing new product? What now you are bashing Shania's album by saying it was all marketing lol!!! You never stop, do you? The reason Shania's COO has had massive success all over the world is mainly because of the songs. It is the songs and the artist and how the artist sells the songs that makes an album big. It has to connect with people. Shania wrote, performed and promoted her album all over the world. The only people who deserve credit for COO's success is Shania and Mutt. Mercury Nashville is a complete joke.

Maybe you should read the posts more carefully next time.
Where am I bashing Shania's album?
Where did I say the success of the album was all marketing?
2 popular versions of the same album seemed like pretty creative marketing to me and it certainly helped expend the life of the albu.

That is garbage. I don't own the international version and it hardly did anything for the sales. Metallica benefited from many different cd releases in differerent formats like changing from cassets to cd's and people buying the album again and again. Usher and others have re released their albums 3 teams and it still doesn't do that much for the album. I could name thousands of artists or re release their cd's and it not help much at all. COO was already 16 times platinum and still in the billboard top 20 after 2 years when the international version was released.

Can you provide proof that enough people bought Metallica's album twice to make a difference in their overall sales? I doubt it. That would be hard to prove.
Usher's album was released only twice, wasn't it?
You know, I honestly think you WANT people to hate Shania so you can have a purpose to post half the things you do. You accuse people of hating her when really, most people actually like her. Personally, I'm TRYING to see a good side in your posting but you're really making it hard for me to do that.

There is a new Shania Twain Valentine's Day card[/url] on sale now that plays "You're Still the One" when you open it. HERE is what the card looks like. The card is available now at Publix, Walgreens, Hallmark stores, and other locations. (That link was provided by Awagner of the Shania Boards.)

In the March 20, 2007 issue of "Woman's World" magazine, there is a small Shania photo + caption. The Shania photo + caption appears in the "What Happened This Week" flashback section on Page 5 of the issue. Here is what the caption says: Shania Twain's "Come On Over" became the all time best-selling solo album by a female artist in 2000 after it sold 17 million copies. Shania was born Eilleen Regina Edwards; the name Shania is Ojibwa Indian for "I'm on my way."Source: Little Shania on the Shania Boards.

The language on the cover of the DVD is French, but the movie itself is supposed to be available in English and French versions on the DVD. THIS is the U.S. Amazon link for the DVD. THIS is the Canadian Amazon link. (The DVD was already released in Canada on March 27.)

Like I said in the Shania thread in the Country section: I'm shocked at how big the news of that sighting has become. Google even has a few articles on the Shania/Mutt sighting.

I'm not going to post the pictures because Shania likes to keep her private life, you know, private. But I will include a link to the article if you would like to view the pictures.. Exclusive photos: Mega star's secret $30m Kiwi mansion5:00AM Sunday April 08, 2007 By Catherine Woulfe The leopard skin leggings, big hair and country music were only ever taking her down one path, really. Music mega-star Shania Twain is finally living in a trailer. Well, a caravan. And to be fair, the Canadian star, who lives in Switzerland, is only roughing it for a year or two as she watches her multimillion-dollar Kiwi getaway estate take shape. Twain, with her husband, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, and their 5-year-old son Eja, bought the 24,731ha slice of Wanaka high country three years ago but secrecy has surrounded the massive amount of construction taking place. The building site is on top of a ridge, on the southern side of a knoll in the Motatapu Valley. It is about 1.4km from the original homestead and has stunning views down the Motatapu River to Lake Wanaka. Rumour has it Lange has taken to staying on the farm while his superstar wife is touring, but last week she was back in town. The couple spent $21.4 million on the station and are building a diamond-shaped complex on top of a ridge, just over 1km from an existing homestead. The property is now likely to be worth more than $30m. But resource consents have proved difficult. Some of the 17 conditions they need to comply with include having to immediately replace any dying plant or tree, have a good water supply in case of fire and plant the same grasses as those growing around the homestead. They are allowed to build a one-level house with two guest cottages, a garage and ancillary structures - it is believed Twain, a keen horsewoman, has included an equestrian facility in the plans. The family are still at the centre of bickering about a tramping track they agreed to allow as one of the conditions for building. But when Twain dons a baseball cap and mooches around town, the locals love her. Radio Wanaka owner Ed Taylor said Twain was not the diva type. "She doesn't come to town and get drunk... She keeps very much to herself. "Most people that come in contact with her just say she's lovely, she's so down-to-earth and so is her husband." Many locals thought it "tacky" that a fan took the singer's photo when she was shopping at a fruit and veggie store in Wanaka recently, Taylor said. Local contractors were working on the estate and the star couple stayed in a caravan on site, he said. The millionaire couple still used their private jet to flit in and out of town at will. A builder, who has been working on the site for about 18 months, told the Herald on Sunday everyone employed by the famous family had signed confidentiality agreements. "I can't really talk about it," he said. "It's pretty secure up there - no visitors... no photos... no information. They're pretty private." He said the couple were back in Switzerland at the moment and would not say when they had last been in Wanaka. But he was surprised to hear the rumour that they were on the site last week. "I don't know where you're getting your information from." Shania facts* Shania Twain is set to receive her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year. * Worldwide, she has sold more than 85 million albums. * After a slow-selling first two albums, her third, produced with the help of husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, struck gold. * The 1997 album Come on Over sold 34 million copies, making it the most successful female solo artist album of all time. * As well as the title track, it included megahits That Don't Impress Me Much, Man! I feel like a Woman, You're Still the One and You've Got a Way. * Since that stunner, Shania has released two albums - Up! in 2002, and Greatest Hits in 2004. New Zealand Herald

This is the Shania Twain YouTube profile:The Official Shania Twain YouTube Profile! Most amazing of all, Shania has reached beyond all feasible music boundaries with just three albums -- all of which have received Diamond certification by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales of 10 million copies in the U.S. She is the only artist to have three consecutive albums sell more than 10 million copies. More than 41 million albums sold in the U.S.; the top selling female artist in history; multi-platinum album sales in 32 countries including Canada, Australia, the UK, Indonesia, Holland and Norway; the sixth-biggest selling album of all time and 17 top ten songs, half of which reached #1. Shania Twain is a phenomenon. Source: angwags of the Shania Boards.

Shouldn't the title be edited? "In stores now" is kinda old and all. :)
This album probably should be certified 4 platinum soon.

Actually, certifications are needed for just about all of Shania's cds, including "The Woman In Me", "Up!", and the "Shania Twain" cd. ( "ST" received its last certification, Platinum, on April 15, 1999.) "Come On Over" is the only cd that doesn't need another certification yet.

It looks like Shania will be sitting in front of Carrie Underwood tonight though. Carrie is expected to win big tonight. I guess there will be a few shots of Shania in the audience. Source

New Album update: Shania was just on the GAC red carpet. Shania signed autographs for fans on the orange/red carpet and did at least 1 interview. I'm told she said that her new album will be out "next year." It looks like 2008 is the new target release time period. Here is Shania arriving at the 2007 ACMs:Head-shot photo Full-length photoSource
