New Myspace blog..she talks a lot about the album..should be out fairly soon.
Whew!
Current mood: determined
Okay, so I know I am not the best...I'm probably the worst at keeping up with things and letting you guys know what's going on, but I'm going to try again! I really feel like I can do it this time. I'm making a New Year's resolution to do better. And yes, I do know it's August...
So, here's what I've been up to lately....I'm going to try to do this in one breath...
I finished the Dreyer's Tour...had a blast and my ice cream won! Go Mint Karaoke Cookie!!!
Came home, got to see Janet (my best friend) in a show...she was amazing...did a private event for the Parseghian Foundation (please find out more about that, they need all the help they can get) in Reno, NV and then went straight from there to New York to start work on my cd!!!
We got 9 songs done in 5 days because Mike Mangini is the best producer ever! While I was there, I got to do another private event, but this time for Malaria No More. If you don't know about them yet, find out ALL you can!!!
I left NY and went to the American Idol finale and all the festivities surrounding that. Fun times...alot of press and work, but I still had a blast and the show was amazing! I should probably mention that I sat right in front of Janice Dickinson which just increased my enjoyment by about 200%.
I went back home after the finale to get ready for my next trip, but had to get some physical therapy for my knee...people like me should not be allowed to just walk around...I bump into walls and various things pretty often. (My knee is fine, i just pulled and stretched a few things)
THEN...I went to Tanzania!!!! Believe it or not, I was part of the Presidential Delegation to the Sullivan Summit in Arusha. Hence, the picture with the lion...for those of you that thought that was real....what in the world is your problem?!?! Anyway, the trip was awesome and I learned more and more about Africa and even got to go to my first African safari...where I did NOT get out of my vehicle and pose with a lion.
Sooo....I came back from Tanzania, took a day to sleep and then headed to Ohio for another private event. I even got to hang out with Scott Hamilton at that one!!!
I left there and then headed to NY again to be part of The League Event Awards Luncheon. The League is another great organization in schools that is really making a difference in alot of communities.
I got home just in time to go to Ellie's Run for Africa...you should read about that one too! This young lady has done so much to raise money for schooling in Africa...it's amazing.
Then I went back into the studio with Mike...he came to Nashville this time and we recorded 6 more songs in 3 days and we were finished with the record!!!!! Yay! I even had a day free to sing on a song for Habitat for Humanity with Amy Grant and Vince Gill and Mandisa...way cool.
Then I got to sing on the Today Show for my cousin's absolutely perfect wedding (Surprise!). That was such an amazing day to be a part of. Wow!
I then traveled to Chicago for another private event and then back to NY to be a part of the mixing process of the cd! I'm getting excited now!
So I come back home for a couple of days and then head to LA for the photo shoot for the cd. I have GOT to learn to enjoy having my picture taken. I had fun with the people though! AND...I got to see a rehearsal and taping of So You Think You Can Dance!!!! I met Will!!!!!!! I don't want to talk about him not being on the show anymore....WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!
Anyway, I finished the photo shoot, came home for a day and then headed out to do an artist cruise with Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant and Jeff Allen and the Sheasby's. It was work, but the fun kind (I will post pics of the crazy excursions we did...ATVs in the mud, zip lines, all that)...so I've been back from the cruise for a week and been to Indianapolis and back for my sister's birthday and now I'm getting geared up for promo, video shoots and fun things surrounding my cd release! YAY!!!!!!
So...all that to say, I have had a wonderful and eventful summer and I hear it only gets better from here. Therefore, I vow to keep you posted more often so you don't have to read 3 months worth at a time.
For those of you that continue to stick by me, even when I'm too busy to think straight...thank you!!! Please know that I am thinking about you and thanking God for you daily. I know that I could not be doing all of this amazing stuff is it wasn't for supporters like you.
To the amazing Backups...I LOVE YOU for being patient with me and always having my back! Back it up...back it up!
To Tyler and Alan...thank you for continuing to have amazing devotion to your sites despite my disappearing for the summer. I promise to come visit them soon! Please check out mdstreetteam.com and melindasbackups.com!!!
