I'm excited for this. I'm a huge fan of UK Grime anyway, and if anyone can make it crossover, it will be Miss Louise.
Her Vertically Challenged EP is great--pick it up!

Public Warning: Lady Sovereign Is On The Loose This London-bred bad girl is unleashing her rhymes on the world
By Cortney M. Wills Sep 20, 2006 04:00PM EDT
Standing at 5'1", Lady Sovereign is a small package that packs a big punch with her rhymes, style and attitude to spare. TeenPeople.com caught up with the pint-sized powerhouse while she was choosing outfits for her first U.S. music video, a clip for the spunky single "Love Me Or Hate Me." She would soon head back to her hometown, London, to film the video. "I wouldn't do my video anywhere else," she says. "London is me. It's gonna be a mad crazy video!"
As she's being pulled and poked with pins by her stylist, trying to fit the dozens of different, way oversized T-shirts on her tiny frame, Sov is scratching at the tight braids on the side of her head, fidgeting with her outfit, and getting into fake fist fights with her manager.
"I just feel like a walking bandana," she says with a laugh while trying on a white and black patterned shirt. After the third accidental pin prick to the back, it's time for some grub. Lavish room service spread? Nah. She's happy to pick over French fries someone else had ordered before she arrived. "Cold chips and mayonnaise," she says. "That's good."
That's decidedly down-to-earth behavior for an artist who packed her July performance in New York's Central Park to capacity before her single ever hit radio. But that's not to say that her normalcy means she's all sweetness and light. One listen to that single, "Love Me Or Hate Me," and it's apparent that Lady Sov is a pint-sized, potty-mouthed chick who's not afraid to say what she means and mean what she says.
"I'm always myself. I'm just real. That's what people will get from my music."
Her style ranges from hip-hop to punk to grime, resulting in an electro-rap sound that's sure to get you moving. The self-proclaimed "funky litt'l monkey" has fans all over the world, including some big names backing her here in the States. Missy Elliott jumped on her "Love Me Or Hate Me' remix, and being signed to Def Jam, her boss is none other than the best rapper alive, Jay-Z, who she shared some similarities with. "I actually don't write any of my lyrics down on paper. They're just in my head," she says (Jay doesn't, either). "I've always got music on my mind."
And her music is on the mind of others. You've surely heard "Love Me Or Hate Me" in the ubiquitous commercials for Verizon's new Chocolate cell phone. Two more songs will be featured on the new season of The O.C.. This is no overnight success, though. Sov has been working hard for years, posting her songs on facepix.com, an early version of MySpace -- so it's appropriate that now, the net-savvy celeb has more than 56,000 MySpace friends. Not only do they help spread the word about her music, but they entertain her as well. "I miss my mates," she says. "Even though the MySpace people aren't all my real friends, it's something I still like to do that I did before the mania."
Another decidedly non-diva quality: she doesn't love all the attention that comes from doing press. "I've already done the crazy media runs [in the U.K.]," she says. "Now, it's just in a different country, and it's not all fun. But some of it is alright." You know, like eating greasy french fries slathered in mayo!

I like Gatheration and Random. I think Tango is funny. And who cares if they are old. When Evanescence released Fallen they had My Immortal, Imaginary, and Whisper on there. All of those were old songs. Most people in the US might not know that those songs are old. So I don't really care.

Her video is really funny! Her song isn't that bad either. This video also already went to #1 on TRL.

Whatever, Lady Sov's "lame" video blows all the other trash TRL plays out of the water.
I welcome any sign of talent sneaking into the picture.

Saw her on Letterman! Hope she can get 30k+ in sales despite HDD predictions even if it's only Top 50, that's a watershed moment for a UK grime artist! The Streets & Dizzee Rascal, Sway, et al would never come close. M.I.A. will be lucky to hit the Top 100 when her new album comes out. Lady Sov's image in the US is quite different from that of the UK. No one understands the context she's coming from over here, so we dub her a cute 'lil tomboy Feminem. Perhaps it's a good move in terms her marketablity towards the teen demographic; however, I do wish people realized that she's actually quite respected as an MC elsewhere. She's not a mere novelty act. :) As Jim from Subterranean says...we can share her, the underground & the mainstream. We can be friends, as long as you don't just assess her based on her TRL success! Download: Fiddle With The Volume, Ch-Ching, A Little Bit Of Shh... & tell me she doesn't have insane MC skills!

She needs to release "Random", stat!
Not that I hold any hopes for commercial success for Sov any longer. The TRL achievements was a brief, deceptive fantasy. Oh well, misconceptions aside, it's probably better for her credibility in the long run if she's not associated with mass teen culture.

New York City Lady Sovereign, who ignored the gold dress code at the MTV New Year's Eve party, performed "Love Me or Hate Me" in a red and black baggy hoodie. The British rapper, who wore dramatic, smoky eye makeup, told TeenPeople.com her resolutions for 2007 are to wash her hair and to stop biting her nails. "I fall asleep biting them," she said. Meanwhile, her plans for the night were to "club hop."

She has flopped hard. Where is her next single? And she needs alot of performances and promo to help her album out.
I doubt if it's even still in the top200 album charts!
Better yet it isnt I dont believe!!!
