Thanks for the reply. Now I get it HA HA. Was it a good song? I think, knowing that Latoya is going after and fond of the Sade vibe, it might do her well to try and "hit" with a song like this, something classy that she's good at, instead of trying to "compete" with Ciara, Mariah, etc., etc. What do ya think? Also, are these "Advance" copies available, or are you in the "biz"? T

"I Can't Hide" is one of my favorites on the album. Actually I'm not understanding her single choices at all. I would have released "Anything" and "I Can't Hide".

Cool...........now you've really got me dying to hear it ("I Can't Hide") HA HA. So about the "Advance" copies? You in the biz, or could I get my hands on one?? However, if it means "downloading" one for "free" / "illegally", forget it! I just don't believe in stealing the music from the artists. Just don't think it's fair. Hope you agree!

Latoya's single is still in the top 15 for sales this week after three weeks, and the pre-orders for the CD at Amazon place it at #1,600. Not bad for a CD that hasn't even come out yet, or been publicised yet! T

August 24, 2005 Chirp Chirp.....
So I'm not naming names or anything, but a little birdie told me that I should get up early tomorrow morning and turn on the television to ABC. Actually I want to name him, I'm gonna name the birdie....Jack. He looked like a Jack. So, anyways, I think you all should do the same and turn your televisions to Good Morning America on ABC tomorrow morning ...or tape it or TiVo it...or tell your little sister to do it!
Be sure to tune in!! Joy

The music kind of reminds me of a slowed down version of Vivian Green's "Gotta Go, Gotta Leave". It's a nice song.. better than a few of the songs that did make it.

an interview with Latoya done sometime in august teacher.scholastic.com/scholasticne...arspotlight.aspStar Spotlight With her soaring voice and knockout performances, LaToya London first wowed audiences on the 2004 season of American Idol. She impressed super-tough judge Simon Cowell so much that he named LaToya as his favorite to win that season! Now, with her new CD, Love and Life, scheduled to be released next month, LaToya is sure to make even more fans. We caught up with LaToya just before her new CD drops. Read what she has to say about her CD, making music, and secrets from the set of American Idol. Q & A Q: What has happened to you between the time you left American Idol and the release of your album? LaToya: We went on tour and right after tour I signed with Peak Records. Then, I was in the studio starting in December and I just finished everything in about three and a half months. Between [then and now], I have been performing. I did some mall tours and correspondence for the E! Network on American Idol this season. Q: Was your recording process everything you expected it to be? Were there any surprises? LaToya: It all happened pretty fast because when they signed me they had a certain amount of time of when they wanted to put this album out. I was pretty nervous about how I was going to write and make a great album that fast. Usually a great album really takes time—some people work on it for years—so imagine three months! I am scratching my head like, "What am I going to do?" It ended up working out. I had some songs that I had before I was on American Idol, which also helped. Q: Did the business side of the music industry surprise you? LaToya: Not really. I have been singing since I was 7 and I have been doing studio work since I was 12. My mother would not let anyone take advantage of me. I learned about the sharks in the business. Q: You got your start singing gospel music. What is in gospel that you think prepares a singer? LaToya: The feeling that you give to a song. In gospel music you are singing to a higher power than yourself, so you have the utmost respect and thanks to that higher power, so you can't help but to sing with feeling because you appreciate this power so much. It is not acting; it is just coming through you. Q: What do you think is the power of music? LaToya: Music is so universal because you can't see music. Music is just a feeling that you get. It has sound waves and they make you feel a certain way. People are driven by emotions, so music is something that can't be controlled because it just moves us. Q: Have your friends been supportive as you pursue your musical dreams? LaToya: Oh yeah, my friends really support me, which is really good because friends can get jealous and not support you. I am fortunate to be able to say that my friends that have a regular life, they support me, and they are like, "You go girl!" I can tell them things and not hold back. Q: What is your favorite song on your CD? LaToya: My favorite song is called "Waiting for You," a song that I wrote. It is the inspirational song I was talking about that I made from scratch with the producer. That is my baby because it is a very inspirational song that grows toward the end. It talks about there is a whole world out there waiting for you. There is a passion inside you—just let it drive you and look inside and let your heart be your guide. Q: Your fashion style is right on the mark. Have you always been very conscious of it? LaToya: When I got on the show that is when my fashion sense really got to blossom, because I saw that you don't have to wear brown with brown. You can wear brown and red and you can wear brown with green. It all depends on how you coordinate it, but all kinds of colors go together, so I really got into it. Q: What is the one thing that you want your fans to know about you? LaToya: When I believe in something, there is nothing that can make me stray. I am very strong-minded. I am not easily influenced. I am a very loving person and always try to help people. I am a real person. —Interview by Marie Morreale

This girl really does deserve to become a huge star. She really has it all, the look, the talent, and above all, seems like an intelligent and compasionate human being! Don't know about anyone else, but September 20th, I'll be buying "Love & Life"!

first off i will say i loved this CD . as i have always said before Latoya is always best with the ballads but her jammin songs are still good as well.one of the best cd's i have ever heard idol or non idol.
SCANDALOUS; dance tune great hook .the sample in it reminds me of the TomTomClub song "genius of love" from the 80's a bit. 8.9
EVERY PART OF ME ; smooth midempo song .luv the jazz guitar vibe it has . 9.3
LEARN TO BREATH ; great power ballad where Latoya shows off her singing talents . nice melody as well. 10
APPRECIATE; great jammin song Latoya sounds like she had a good time doing this one .the BlackThought rap adds a real nice flow to the song as well . 9
STATE OF MY HEART ; one of the best songs .it has a nice blues, gospel like meloncholy feel to it . it really shows off Latoya's talent .10
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT; midempo and very pop sounding song for Latoya . i really like it. 9.7
MEET ME HALFWAY ;real nice smooth slow jam .9.5
WAITING FOR YOU; this is one of the songs i have been looking foward to the whole version and it does not disapoint .just a beautiful uplfting ballad where Latoya shows us what she has got.10
ANYTHING; we get the sensious, sultery and sexy side of Latoya on this one .nice little song. 8.6
NON A WATCHA DO ;catchy dance jam 8.5
I CANT HIDE ;real nice smooth slow jam 9.4
MORE ;a real smooth catchy midtempo jam 9.2
HOW I LOVE THE RAIN ; a real nice soft jazzy feel to it .love the piano background sound on it. 10
ALL BY MYSELF ; the song that started it all for Latoya is a great way to end this incredible ,beautiful cd that Latoya has given us . starts off soft and builds up as the real power of Latoya's voice kicks in. 10

a little article/interview with Latoya on the MTV site . www.mtv.com/news/articles/1510038/2...?headlines=true'Idol' Finalist La Toya London Says Women Should 'Appreciate' Men 09.21.2005 3:44 PM EDT Singer's Love & Life debut hit stores Tuesday. Latoya London Photo: latoyalondon.com La Toya London knows how to build up the male half of her fanbase: praise them. "I'm speaking for the ladies and talking to the men how much we appreciate you and what you bring to us emotionally, mentally, physically," the "American Idol" Photos, audio and video from this story Latoya London talks about her first single "Appreciate" Season 3 finalist said of her song "Appreciate." "There's a lot of songs out there talking about how beautiful we are and how much they love us. And I don't think we give that back enough. I think us women, we do a lot of complaining, 'You don't do this for me,' 'You're not doing that,' and I think [men] need to hear some positive input coming from us." London then proceeded to sing a line from the tune: "Even though we try to change who you are/ We really love it all/ Thank you for being who you are." "Appreciate" is the first single from London's debut album, Love & Life, which hit stores Tuesday (see " 'American Idol' Season 3 Finalists: Where Are They Now?"). The track features a guest verse from Roots rapper Black Thought. "We were looking for a positive rapper, and I love the Roots, always have," London said. "And when you listen to the song, it just it fits very well." London, who was widely considered Fantasia's greatest challenger on "Idol," wrote or co-wrote five of the 14 tracks on her album, including "Appreciate," which was a last-minute addition. "We had the album, it was great, but it was just missing a little something, and I think 'Appreciate' really brought it home for me," she said. "It's very young, very positive, and it's just a cute, fun, catchy song." It also fit perfectly on Love & Life, which is as aptly titled as albums get. "It's a collection of songs about different experiences involving love, experiences that I've been through, experiences that I've seen other people go through," London explained. "There's a song called 'Meet Me Halfway,' and that's something that we have to learn in life, that in relationships, any type of relationship, whether it's love or friendship, you have to meet each other halfway and you have to communicate. There's also an inspirational song that I wrote with Barry Eastmond called 'Waiting for You' and it's just saying that, 'Hey, anything in life you want, go for it. There's a whole world out there waiting just for you.' So love and life, there you go." London — who has been singing since she was 4, touring the Bay Area wedding/funeral/party circuit with her mom — is in the midst of a promotional tour that will include several TV appearances throughout the fall. "When you're singing to an audience you just have a different drive that comes through you," she said. "You connect more with the song because you're actually speaking to people instead of speaking to a microphone." Get "Idol"-ized on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

Very cool, you know it's really interesting, that the one song everyone seems to have praise for, and has given really high review marks, "I Can't Hide", she hasn't mentioned yet. Can't wait to hear her "take" on that one. Also, hope she's gonna do it in her live show. That would be the BOMB!!!!
