I've got to go but maybe you'd be more lucky if you went to Matchbox 20's forum.. that's how I got it. www.matchbox20.com go to the forum and ask someone there if you can't get it here.

Rob's moving on up in more ways than one! From the NY Post:
Smooth move
Blue bloods in bucolic Bedford, who first raised their highbrows when movie stars began moving in, not only have a felon living under house arrest in their community - now they have a (gasp!) rock star.
Martha Stewart's newest high-profile neighbor is rocker Rob Thomas. The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, for years the frontman for Matchbox Twenty, also wrote and sang "Smooth" on Carlos Santana's "Supernatural" album.
Thomas, whose solo album is due out soon, has already spent about $3.6 million of its possible proceeds for a new 15-room Colonial-style manor in the Village's estate area.
The five-bedroom, 4 1/2-bath home, with a two-story center hall foyer, a library, living room and dining room, all with fireplaces, is newly built on 6.24 acres. The professionally landscaped property, surrounded by stone walls, features a pool with a spa and views of the countryside to the Long Island Sound.
It is one of approximately 40 new residences built on a former 300-acre estate, which was developed, in part, by financier Carl Icahn.

I finally broke down and listened. I like it. But usually need to give it a good five or so listens to really take it in. The woman's voice at the end really reminds me of Pink.
As I listened, for some reason the thought that the NFL could use this song during the playoffs came to mind. Especially the part where it goes:
Well this is it now Everybody get down This is all I can take This is how a heart breaks You take a hit now You feel it break down Make you stay while I wait This is how a heart breaks
I can picture the various video clips of big football hits and dropped passes with this song playing over them. ;)
This would be an interesting video. So fast and rocking.
Hey, did you hear that Rob is going to be doing a Target commercial to promote his CD. That should be interesting. I read that he commented on Darius Rucker's (Hootie) appearance in the Burger King commercial the other day. Sounded like he was shocked when he saw it. I know some Hootie fans are probably still crying about it! So embarassing! Hope Target has something a little less degrading in mind for Rob.

This was on posted by MTV. I cannot wait to see this video now. Sounds really interesting!
Rob Thomas Ready For The Gravy After Testing Himself With Solo LP 03.11.2005 6:02 AM EST
Matchbox Twenty singer's Something to Be due April 19.
With Matchbox Twenty hits like "Push," "3A.M." and "If You're Gone" under his belt — along with those three Grammys for his 1999 collaboration with Carlos Santana, "Smooth" — singer Rob Thomas headed off to make a solo album with the hope that everyone would basically forget all that.
"It's like nothing I've attached myself to or written," he said of Something to Be, due April 19. "I like the fact that if you hear it, you might not know it's me. And that's really what I wanted to do with this record, to be something that kind of spanned out as much as the CDs that I listen to — from a little bit of funk to a little bit of jazz." Guest artists including John Mayer and Robert Randolph kept Thomas company on some of the tracks.
At first glance, the title of the album's first single, "Lonely No More," may appear to be a reference to being with his bandmates or maybe his wife of five years, Marisol. Not so, he said. "Sometimes there's 'the b**ch that left me' song, sometimes there's the pining song, but this is the 'don't jack me around' song. Everything has a designation and that's that one. I'm not sure how indicative it is of the rest of the record but it's definitely a good starting point."
Making a video without any other musicians with him was a whole new experience for Thomas. The dizzying treatment for the "Lonely No More" clip, devised by director Joseph Kahn (U2's "Elevation," Britney Spears' "Toxic"), at first drops the singer into a pretty solitary setting, but quickly changes the scene into something much more, well, not solitary.
The video starts out with Thomas sitting in a chair in an apartment with a crisp and post-modern design. Once he gets up, all the furniture flips and starts twisting. His solipsistic experience is spun into a nightclub full of gorgeous partiers and then switches back and forth between the two worlds, all the while rotating around Thomas. The energy builds to the point where he starts throwing the furniture and it enters into the club space and begins flipping with ease to the beats in the song. At one point Thomas walks out on a red carpet and falls, his body rotating until he lands on his bed. Eventually his two worlds meld and flip yet again as the clubgoers flood into the apartment. At the end everything has swapped, and he is left alone back in the club.
Thomas said most of the jitters he felt going into his solo project have now dissipated. "I was really nervous when I started to make the record because you're not sure how much of what you do is you, and how much is who you surround yourself with," he said. "Now I feel a little more comfortable. I made the record, that seems like the hard part, now playing it is gravy."
A solo tour is currently in the works.

Man this is getting a tongue bathing by radio. I heard on three different radio stations in the past 3 days that this cd is "spectacular" "The best of the year so far" "Brilliant" "amazing" and "the best pop cd in recent memory" Either we are a really Rob friendly state, or this is getting amazing hype

The video looks like it's going to be very "different." Hopefully, it'll air this coming week on VH1. It'll be interesting to see if MTV plays it at all. My guess is no but I hope I'm wrong just because Rob could use the exposure. In a lot of ways Rob is a new artist to many people.

This album is gonna have as much success as the first Norah Jones album Come Away With Me. It's about time we have a male artist that's popular and talented.. and I mean real talent, not just another nice voice with the moves or somebody that got shot 9 times like everyone that's out there today.

The blue is darker and the blue highlighting on his face is almost gone. You used to be able to really see it under his nose. Just a side note, my friend calls it the concentration camp picture. Yikes! She doesn't like it at all.

I would have hoped for a better cover but I have no doubt that the album will be great so I'm gonna get it no matter what. Maybe the dual disc edition will havea different cover.. who knows.

I have a friend that works for Atlantic Records and he/she recently got a CD in the mail with the entire "Lonely No More" and 5 clips of songs from Rob's album that are anywhere from 44 seconds to 1 minute 15 seconds. I thought you guys might be interested in what the clips sound like in CD quality. Has anyone heard any type of studio recording other than Lonely No More and This Is How a Heart Breaks?
Here are the 5 songs:
This Is How A Heart Breaks-Pretty much everyone knows about this one, this is the catchiest song on the sampler, IMO.
ever the same-this song is really great. I think Rob did this at his charity event so I won't post the lyrics, they have already been posed on the internet. has a traditional drum backing that is really sweet and slow in tempo, as well as a guitar...maybe what I'd consider the closest thing to a matchbox type song
i am an illusion-"take this confusion runnin round my head...take back my unkind words-lay that weight on me instead. i'm the place where everything turns south (sour?)--where you gonna run to now? wrong step-ya got off track, ya need someone to help us get back now...one thin awful state i was in <not sure if those are even close to the real lyrics>...i believe i was losin me, now i'm found...i am found, yeah...well i'm not real anymore...I am an illusion, i'm not real anymore...i am an illusion." those are the lyrics that i could understand--the song has a real angry tone to it and the music really creates a tension. some weird sounds here and there in the songs, especially when he gets to the "I am an illusion" part. maybe some type of brass instrument in parts.
all that i am--"I am the wondering bird for flying sinking quickly to the ground...see your faith in me subside...i give you all that i have. i am the sound of loves arriving echoed softly on the <something i cant understand>. lay your head upon my shoulder. lay your hand within my hand. i give you all that i am. and i breathe where you breathe....let me here stand where you stand <???> with all that i am." I really couldn't understand a lot of what rob was saying in this song. he sings in a style I've never heard from him before. throughout the song there is almost what i would call a xylophone gently playing and it's just his voice over this xylophone and maybe a really quite bass or something...and then a small cymbal crescendo here and there. rob sings the longest notes that i've ever heard him sing in this song...when he says "breathe" it is held out really long and "stand" he also takes a long time to say. if you HAD to compare it to a mb20 song maybe something like "you wont be mine"
something to be--"hey man...i dont wanna hear about love no more. i dont wanna talk about how i feel. i dont really wanna be me no no no more. dressed down...now i look a little too <something>. mixed up, maybe I should try to find a downtown whore--that will make look hardcore. i need you to tell me what they stand for...I've been lookin for somethin...yeah yeah yeah...somethin i've never seen. yeah yeah yeah...well i'm lookin for somethin...something to be...yeahhh yeahhhh." this is a fairly poppish song, and almost in a sarcastic/angry/fuck off type of tone. I can see why Rob chose to name his album after this one.
Sorry--i'm sure I got a lot of the lyrics wrong, but I just wanted to give you guys a general idea of what the songs sound like. Definitely sounds interesting. And, trust me, Rob is going in a different direction in these songs, but they aren't all "Justin Timberlake" like some fans want to claim based on ONE song that they have heard from Rob. There isn't anything in the other songs remotely close to "Lonely No More."

I'm wondering what the buzz is at Atlantic about this album. The first single has taken off better than their wildest expectations, IMO, but I keep on reading that the rest of the album is very different and surprisingly un-Matchbox. I would love to hear whether the rank & file at Atlantic are as excited about this release, after having heard it, as some of us are who can only wait with anticipation. About the video, I like it, but can't say I love it. The special effects seem kind of blurry and unpolished to me. I was hoping for a more crisp visual like Toxic since it's the same director. I've watched it a few times and try to make out the people and environment as it switches back and forth. I still can't seem to "get" some of the visuals. Guess I'll have to watch it over and over. Darn!
