Kelly's people really need to get the third single in line. While SURG still has a good bullet, it's going to start falling soon, and when it does, it'll fall a lot faster than Breakaway. If they can keep momentum up, this album could sell even more than the last. It's a matter of chosing the right singles and making sure they have some moderate success. Hasn't this been confirmed as the next single?

I think it's 90% sure it's BHTE... with a very small of chance of Walk Away. RCA is behing BHTE... so I guess that's the smart thing to go with. Walk Away is more fresh and different though... but that doesn't always pay off in airplay. I don't think they'll release a single until the SUBG is out of the top ten.

Hasn't this been confirmed as the next single? No, it hasn't. Kelly is still pushing for Walk Away. That song is being used in some radio ads for her tour, and it won one of those nightly battle things 3 nights in a row. Whether the next single ends up being Behind These Hazel Eyes or Walk Away, I can't see it going for adds until at least a month from now. Breakaway is finally going recurrent this week, and SUBG still has a bullet at #2, so some time needs to elapse before the old singles have dropped enough to make room for the new one.

My radio station has been running this Ipod ad where some guy kidnaps Kelly Clarkson... kinda creepy. Anybody heard this?

This has now been confirmed as the next single, and Because Of You will most likely be the single after it. Kelly will be shooting the video for Behind These Hazel Eyes the same week that rehearsals for her upcoming tour will take place.

If BTHE performs well... I hope we get a fourth single after BOY... I would like to see Gone, but I Walk Away would be nice too.
I wouldn't be suprised if something is released in BOY's place though... the song is a definate risk.

I'd say wait until the end of the month to push this. SUBG will be dropping at Pop and Kelly's album should still be Top 20. I'd also say this is a case where you hope stations drop the other single fast.

After BOY, Im hoping for a risky release, like Addicted or Hear Me.

I've pretty much come to accept that my favorite (Where Is Your Heart) won't be a single, but it would be a crying shame if neither of the songs you mentioned were released.

I maintain that "Addicted" and "Where Is Your Heart" - which I feel are the two best songs on the CD - need to be released. ;)

Well, Kelly needs to stop pushing (atleast for now)! Behind These Hazel Eyes just HAS to be the second single. It's my favorite song she's ever done! I love it! Grrr... I like Walk Away, too, but that can wait. lol.

Too similar to SUBG for my tastes as an immediate follow-up, but Love it.
It's not a good idea to fight with your label over single releases most of the time - somebody heard Kelly on Atlanta's Star 94 radio station, where she said she still talks to people like Clay Aiken. Maybe he told her where going against Clive Davis' wishes on a single selection got him:the momentum for the album completely stopped in its tracks. This album also deserves so much better than that...granted Kelly is now more of a pop staple, so anything she would put out right now would at least make the top 50 (even her "flop" The Trouble With Love Is still peaked in the 20s). But still.

Too similar to SUBG for my tastes as an immediate follow-up, but Love it. My thoughts exactly. Yeah, I don't know the extent of the debate between Kelly and RCA with the single choice, but judging from the fact that a bunch of new promotional appearances were announced today and that all parties seem to be in agreement about Because Of You as the next release after BTHE, I get the feeling that Clive isn't going to take it out on her that she was pushing for Walk Away *crosses fingers*Damn, it's pretty amazing to step back and look at how Kelly's singles have done on Pop thus far; out of the 6 she has released, 3 have peaked at 1 or 2, 4 have gone top 5, and only one didn't go top 20 (TTWLI peaked at #23).

I think this could easily go top 5. One thing that might stop it is the fact that Breakaway is probably still going to be a strong reccurent and SUBG will still be getting good airplay when this songs goes for adds. Lets just hope that radio doesn't get sick of kelly.

Lets just hope that radio doesn't get sick of kelly. Because the song isn't similar to Breakaway in terms of sound, I don't think Breakaway's recurrent play will hurt it, especially since SUBG managed to enter the top 10 while Breakaway was still in there. SUBG will be the bigger obstacle. I can't see stations having both SUBG and BTHE in heavy rotation, which could lead to BTHE stalling or SUBG dropping quickly.

I wouldn't mind SUBG dropping quickly at this point... but I think what is more likely is that Behind These Hazel Eyes will stall. Hopefully, they will wait till SUBG is falling out of the top 10. I'm gonna say this peaks at right outside the Top 10.

If "BTHE" could be a hit (which I think it will) I'd want "SUBG" to fall fast if it would help "BTHE."

The only danger lurking for Kelly is "too much" Kelly. They need to take their time releasing the next single - let SUBG run its course and when its out of the top 10 release BTHE because SUBG is going to get LOTS of recurrent play. One song on the chart at a time is enough. Every song on the album is good enough to be a single - ALL OF THEM! YFM and IHMFLY would make it to the top 10. I think its highly possible BOY won't be released as a single. The uptempo songs are all so good and I think both Kelly and RCA want to release some of the darker deeper songs like HM or Addicted to add some depth to Kellys image with the last single or two. The ballads are good but the uptempo songs are better and unveil an edgier Kelly.

They certainly seem to be giving it time to fall. Lots of managements would've released the next single around now. Considering we're only finding out which one it is now, we've probably still got at least two weeks before it gets officially released to radio.
Still think it's a poor decision to release this song, though. It may work out great, but it could bomb. Another song (not necessarily WA) could've stayed clear from the bomb possibility (Addicted, Gone, Hear Me)

I think that they're rushing the single on purpose. A single usually runs for 2-3 months right?
Breakaway was from Aug- present that was unexpected. SUBG is expected to run from Dec- Late March. BTHE is expected is probably expected From Late March late June, Early July.
That leaves enough time for BOY to be released in time for the grammy's. If anything I think that they're doing it so that Kelly can bring home, or at least be nominated, for that award.
Because we know that no matter how good the other songs are, BOY is grammy material. They're doing this to not only benifit Kelly, but to help her bring home awards.

I think this will peak inside the top 10, but will miss the top 5. Peaking between #7 and #9.

how does everyone think Because Of You will get nominated for a grammy? I mean I think it could happen, but some people act as if it's a for-sure thing.
