Amy Winehouse Diagnosed with Skin Disease

What's up with those bumps on Amy Winehouse's face? The singer has been diagnosed with impetigo, her spokesman confirms to PEOPLE.

It's a bacterial skin infection that causes pimple-like lumps – and is "is highly contagious, and scratching or touching the sores is likely to spread the infection to other parts of the body as well as to other people," according to the Mayo Clinic's Web site.

And yes, Winehouse, 24, had been prescribed drugs ... in the form of antibiotics.

As for how the singer's feeling, "She's fine," a pal tells PEOPLE. "She's not hiding away. She's never been one to care what people think."

Amy Winehouse doesn't let her recent diagnosis of an infectious skin condition slow her down on Wednesday. The singer headed out in London for a visit with her incarcerated husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

The troubled star has almost become a recluse since contracting an ugly skin condition and friends are terrified about her negative state of mind.

They say she has never been this low — and that she has been writing sinister song lyrics about death.

Again writing with MARK RONSON, Amy has played some of the new songs to pals.

They were impressed but disturbed by the moodiness of her follow-up to the eight million-selling Back To Black.

Some of the lyrics are so bleak that it is even being described as “suicidal music”.

A source said her skin complaint was dragging her mood down further and added: “Her next album is darker than ever. Amy’s got low self-esteem anyway but her skin has made her want to hide away from the rest of the world. And we have started noticing more and more cuts on her arms.

“Her problems are pushing her over the edge and she’s turning into a depressed recluse. It’s not good for her to stay in so much.

“People try to get her to leave the house and tell her not to worry about what people say. But she’d rather sit around her dingy flat all day writing about death.”

Despite the morbid nature of the new material, it’s sure to be a hit with fans. The source added: “She’s written quite a lot of the third album already.

“It is very, very dark but she produces some of her best music when she’s in pain — and the past few months have been hell for her.

“She might have all this fame and wealth but she’s never been so down as she is now.”

Divorce threats from husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL — in jail awaiting trial for assault and perverting the course of justice — aren’t helping matters.

Blake, who has been beaten up by fellow inmates, has been demanding Amy visit him in London’s Pentonville Prison for marriage crisis talks. A source said: “He’s having a hard time in jail because of who he’s married to and gets wound up because Amy keeps missing visits or gets turned away for being late.

“There’s no excuse for her to miss visits. We think she does it on purpose sometimes because she doesn’t want to see him.


“Amy’s real friends are hoping that he follows through with the threats to divorce her.”

The star has decamped to the home of producer pal MARK RONSON in Henley, Oxfordshire, to work on the Quantum Of Solace title track.

Meanwhile, it emerged Amy could appear at this year’s Glastonbury festival – controversial headline choice JAY-Z wants the Rehab singer to perform with him.

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has quashed speculation she is secretly writing the title track for upcoming Bond movie Quantum Of Solace.

The Back To Black star was rumoured to be working on the theme song for superspy's latest outing with acclaimed DJ and producer Mark Ronson - and was even tipped as the best artist for the job by former Beatle Paul McCartney.

But the soul sensation's representative has denied the reports, insisting the star is working with Ronson on her highly anticipated third album, expected to be ready for release early next year.

Her spokesman tells People.com, "Amy has been in the studio working on songs for her new album with Mark Ronson. Recording for anything else is pure speculation."

Amy Winehouse might well be working on the theme song to the next installment of the James Bond series, but her record company is downplaying the move.

Winehouse has been in the studio working with Mark Ronson, producer of her hit sophomore album "Back To Black," an Island Records spokesman confirms.

"She has been doing some work in the studio, but [the Bond theme] is speculation, basically."

Ronson told BBC 6Music that the pair had been working on a track for the upcoming Bond film "Quantum Of Solace." He told the digital station that there was no official guarantee that the fruits of their recording efforts would be included in the action movie, which is due for a theatrical release in November.

"It would be lovely," adds the Island spokesman, "but there's nothing to confirm at this stage."

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is working on a theme song for the forthcoming James Bond film, according to super producer Mark Ronson.

Last month the Back To Black star's spokesman refuted claims she was secretly writing the title track for the movie.

But Ronson insists the pair has recorded a song and hopes it will be used for the upcoming blockbuster, Quantum Of Solace.

He says, "They asked Amy, and I think Amy said that if she did it, she'd want to do it with me. So hopefully something will come of it.

"The demo sounds like a James Bond theme, hopefully. But I don't know if it'll get used."

"I'm sure there are loads more really famous people that probably we're competing with and we don't know about. But hopefully I'll still be alive for at least 12 more Bond themes. If we don't get this one maybe we'll get another one."

Amy Winehouse has been arrested in connection with alleged drug offenses and is being questioned by police in East London, her rep told the BBC on Wednesday.

A statement to PEOPLE from the singer's U.S. spokesperson said, "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

In January 2008, after being caught on camera allegedly doing drugs, the soul diva, 24, entered rehab.

Late last month, she spent a night in police custody in London after being cautioned for "common assault," a law official told PEOPLE.

The pair have both had drug troubles and recent battles with the law- but will now be matched musically too.

Babyshambles man Pete- who was released from prison last week- apparently told reporters: “I have always wanted to do a single with Amy. She is just so talented.”

Wino has been spotted recently hanging out with Doherty’s bandmate Mick Whitnall and Pete revealed they’ve been writing new songs.
