I have no idea if this will be sent to radio, but AbsolutePunk posted this: The Presidents of the United States of America have shot the video for their new single, "Mixed Up S.O.B." with Weird Al Yankovic. The video will be out soon, and you can check out the song on the band's myspace page. These Are the Good Times People, hits stores March 11th on Fugitive Recordings.
I know they don't get much play anymore since their days of "Lump" & "Peaches" which were the anthems from my 6th grade days, but my local station played "Some Postman Is Grooving" quite a bit a few years ago.

Well, they're guaranteed to get about 100 spins a week from KNDD, who've already started spinning this. They absolutely love these guys, and for good reason, of course, since they're from Seattle and have been a pillar of Seattle's post-grunge music scene. (Not "post-grunge" as most of you guys use it, but as in "after grunge ended.")
I heard this last week, and it sounded pretty good, much better than "Some Postman."
"She's a mixed up son of a bitch." *chuckles*

"Not only is it completely acceptable to abbreviate United States of America as "USA" when it pertains to this band, but there's already a topic for this as well."
"Or remove the "The", at the very least.
I assumed this one would be closed because it was an "assumption" single with no source. About half of mine and others of that nature were closed. No, it's not acceptable to remove "The" or any other words from a bands name. I'll keep the full band name and abbreviate the song like we talked about in the Black Kids song topic. Like I said earlier, the rules do not matter unless somebody complains. Let's keep it to music.
But I'll just rephrase what I said in the official one and bring it over to this one. It's catchier than the Postman song from a few years back. But it doesn't fit well with the harder rock stuff nowadays.
EDIT : Added Quotes

I'm the founder of Pulse Music Board, and I say it's acceptable to abbreviate whatever you like, as long as the subject line sufficiently describes both the name of the artist and the song's title.

If that works for you, awesome. But when bands start getting abbreviated here in topics like "Days Of New" or "Red Jumpsuit Apparatus" or "Panic At Disco!" I think you'll change your story.
Maybe you can talk to your superiors at Proboards.com about making the entry boxes long enough to cover the exceptional song titles and band name? There doesn't seem to be anyway of compromising this problem. Although the title getting abbreviated perfectly to "Ho" was pretty funny for the Black Kids topic.

OK, this is ponderous. Anyone can tell exactly what the subject is from this topic title, even with the band name in an established standard abbreviated form. You actually had me thinking the Presidents had a new song coming out called "M" because of your ridiculous topic-making format and how you used the space constraints to cut off the middle of the title rather than the end.

Just for that, I hope M makes a comeback song called "The Presidents Of The United States Of America".

I actually thought the same thing. Actually, I semi-forgot about this song and that I even made a topic for it back in February.

Unfortunately, M was the only character of the title to fit. But (guessing) 98% of the songs and artists do fit in the title boxes, so having an unlimited entry would help those exceptions. Still a fine idea, but I do get it that making a larger text box for those 2% may not be worth it.
As for our song, I can see why they'd put Yankovic in a video. When I heard this a while back, I almost thought it was a new song by him that accidentally got played on my station.

No, it's not acceptable to remove "The" or any other words from a bands name. I'll keep the full band name and abbreviate the song like we talked about in the Black Kids song topic. Like I said earlier, the rules do not matter unless somebody complains. This is why I hate you. Right here. You absolutely refuse to comply with anyone's wishes, even when it's a moderator or admin telling you. I mean the damn founder just told you, but do you listen? No, you're like "well the rules don't apply to me so I'll just do things my own way and you guys just better learn to like it". And then you use the whole "Oh why can't we just talk about music" defense. Well if you won't play ball with anyone, why should anyone play ball with you? You reap what you sow. You act like a jerk so people are jerks to you. It's a cycle and you're the source. Do you do this in your everyday life too? Are you a rebel? Do you wear jeans at your job because "the rules don't matter unless somebody complains"? Do you speed and pass through red lights because "the rules don't matter unless somebody complains"? I'm just trying to understand this whole thought process here. It's ironic because EVERYf**kINGBODY has been complaining yet nobody seems able to get through to you. What has to happen? Does God have to come out of the damn clouds themselves and poke you in the eye with his big finger? EDIT: And "like we talked about". You mean where everybody told you not to and you said "to hell with all of you, I'm doing it anyway?" That kind of "talked about"?

OH NO THEY LEFT OFF THE "THE" IN "THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS"! GOD SAVE US ALL! HOW WILL I EVER KNOW WHAT BAND IT IS WITHOUT MORE OBVIOUS HINTS! I AM SO DUMB I CAN'T PUT 2 AND 2 TOGETHER AND MAKE 5! Seriously, you really think people are going to have trouble with that? Not knowing that Panic At Disco! is Panic At The Disco!? I mean, so far it seems like the only one who has trouble with that is you, because so far everyone else has been getting along fine.

I fully complied to the rules, nothing was broken, except the part about starting two threads on the same song, which I did not know I had done. This topic itself was started illegally, but I don't seem to hear you crying about American Idiot. Strange. But it's dropped, move on. Do you ever talk about the songs? I did find the rules. Please stick to #12: pulsemusic.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=announcements&action=display&thread=44026

And I didn't argue with Idiot because, again not that you'd probably notice, but he has a source: AbsolutePunk. That is a source. A very good source too. It's the leading website on punk news and a lot of other news as well, and the founder, Jason Tate, has a hell of a lot of influence in the punk scene.
