Ethel today played this as the next The Offspring single. I'm happy they are staying away from their annoying comedy-rock sound, but this is simply following the pop formula that Papa Roach has tried to do. This once-promising group continues to diminish in my opinion. I'm so glad your opinion means squat to me. This once promising group, as you put out, has put out more quality material in their career than 99% of the flash in the pan groups that come and go every year. oh and grab a sense of humour on the way out.

I can't have an opinion about this song, not having heard it. And I would agree with Artie in that Papa Roach has gone way downhill. But, I mean "Hammerhead" rips. This is probably the best single they've put out since AMERICANA, and it's about as good as any of those. Though I did like that song off the Orange Country Soundtrack they did. I forget what it was called. You may have a point though Artie, as Papa Roach kicked ass with "Getting Away With Murder" and then followed it up with one of my least favorite songs of all time, "Scars." I don't think the Offspring are capable of doing anything that cheesy.

I edited in the artist name. Please choose topic titles with both the artist and the song name so people will know who/what the topic is about. It's really not that hard.

I edited in the artist name. How disappointing. I wanted to join as "Kristy" and post a thread called "I'm doing fine, thanks".

Oh god no. This has to be the worst possible choice on the new album that they could use as a single. Quite honestly, this sounds like a Simple Plan song than anything else.
I couldn't find the "Hammerhead" thread, but I wanted to post my thoughts of the new album after hearing it for the first time at work today. Overall, I think it kicks freaking ass and was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I love how they incorporated a lot of their old school aggressive punk sound with songs like the single "Hammerhead" and "Rise And Fall" and mixed it with some of the material you'd typically hear from since "Americana."
I immediately thought "Trust You" could make a great single since I remember it being very catchy and "Fix You" and "Let's Hear It From Rock Bottom" are others that I could see being almost perfect for radio. However, "Kristy, Are You Doing Ok" to me sounded horrible. No offense to Dexter, because I admire him a lot and I am a fan of most emo bands that I hear, but his voice just is NOT AT ALL right to a completely emo sounding song like this one. I'm hoping Ethel just played this just to play some of the album tracks and not because it is indeed the next single.

Dexter's voice is just grating on a soft song like this. I really hope it's not the follow-up to Hammerhead, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite Offspring songs ever.

It's a pretty shallow barrel that they have to choose from. I love the Offspring, but this album is pretty disappointing. That's not because it is nothing compared to their older stuff and they've gone mainstream and other reasons that people tend to use, but because there were hints that they were going back to that. It's like the album is half Offspring, half parody. I would have preferred "Stuff is Messed Up", mainly because from talking to people there has been a fairly positive response to it, and it falls into the catchy radio friendly tracks that Offspring tend to release as singles.

I don't hear the half parody part. Splinter, now that was half parody. This just feels like the real deal all the way through. "Kristy" is the only song that deviates, actually. Everything else just sounds like it could've been from their older albums as near as I can tell.

Jay, you have the best avatar I've seen in a long, long time.
Did you crop the text off the top, yourself? 'Cause I didn't seem to locate that picture without it, just now.

After listening to the album five times already, I'm agreeing "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" would be one of or if not, the best choice for a second single. It's easily one of the most memorable tracks on the album and seems to have been in my head constantly over the past few days.

Magic eraser in Photoshop. I just forgot until now that I actually own that single. I guess I forgot because I haven't listened to it since I finally bought the whole album in 2000.

"Stuff is Messed Up" is awesome. Listen Buckcherry/Kid Rock/ToaD, you wanna create a fun, vulgar tune, this is it.

Well, you're right, but I was mostly referring to the chorus (which you should sort of expect from its sarcastic title).

But even the chorus...I mean, "Crazy Bitch", "So Hott", and "Bad Girlfriend" all have something in common that this song is lacking.

But even the chorus...I mean, "Crazy b***h", "So Hott", and "Bad Girlfriend" all have something in common that this song is lacking. True...guess I was just being ultra-conservative.
